Need advice on setting up my new SSD with a HHD

I want to transfer my win7 OS and some of my software highly used to my new (500 GB) SSD. My old HHD (500 GB), I like to keep my user files.  When I say userfiles is the designated My Documents, my pictures, my videos, etc.

I'll use "Acronis True Image" to copy my HHD on my SSD. Then I was going to reformat my HHD call my D: drive and move my Userfiles to this HHD.

Can someone tell me if this is a good way to put my userfiles on one disc while keeping my OS win7 on my SSD. Should I know, things to watch?

Thanks in advance.

I now want to put all userfiles who don't get a lot of use on my E: Can anyone advise how I can do?

-> Mobile only some of the files is not a good idea. You end up with a confusing system. Much better to move the complete user libraries. You can do it like this:

  1. Make sure you have an external backup of your files to the user. Important always files must be at least two independent media. See here what can happen when you ignore this rule.
  2. Format E: drive.
  3. Create the folder E:\Mettam\Music.
  4. Click the start planet, and then click Mettam to open your libraries.
  5. Right click 'Music', and then click Properties.
  6. Click on 'Move', then enter E:\Mettam\Music as a folder target.
  7. Check if your music files have been moved to the E: drive.
  8. Repeat the process for your remaining files Documents, pictures, videos, downloads. I let the other folders where they are.
  9. Be sure to check your backup process engages the moved files.

Your new SSD must be in the format GUID extended journeled using disk utility. Boot into Recovery (R command).

Install OS X and use the Time machine to restore all your data.

  • I can't set up a new account with T-Mobile 4G

I have recently buy a slate of 10 HD 3600 us with Android JellyBean and I was just the initial game upward. Instructions to set up a new account 4G with T-Mobile seem simple enough in the tutorial:

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/ads/free-mobility/overview.html?JumpID=va_r11260_go_freemobility

BUT THEY DO NOT WORK ON MY TABLET! So I unplug my Wi - Fi tablet, went to Chrome, and that's all I ever get:

    You are in offline mode

A Wi - Fi connection and mobile data are turned off.
This page can be loaded once you connect to a network.
    Error code: ERR_Internet_DISCONNECTED

I tried different cities, just to check if the T-Mobile signal was weak, where I live, with the same results. Could there be a problem with my SIM card?

I saw in Amazon.com that I was not the only person having problems with implementation of this 4 G with T-Mobile account.  So I finally got a hand on Amazon and HP technical support, and the later explained to me that:

"As you use the SIM card that is T-Mobile, you must activate the mobile data connection. You can enable it from the setting of the notification. In the top right drop-down menu panel. »

So if you go to home page main of your device and make your finger down on the upper right corner, there is a menu with different options in the device settings. And of course, there is a T-Mobile utility that allows you to transform the mobile data. I did know about this because I'm all new to Android, and this is my first tablet. I could follow the tutorials to set up the account 4G T-Mobile after that.

  • Help setting up all new SSD

    Hi guys

I just installed a new Samsung 850 EV0 SSD in my iMac in early 2009 and now I'm confused on what I should do next.

I have a time Machine backup that I would use it but I don't know how to start the Setup program.

I tried to hit command-R, but it did nothing. Instead, I got the grey screen with a flashing folder.

I have the Snow Leopard installation DVD, but I prefer to begin by the latest version of OS X which I believe is El Capitan.

I'm not too sure if I can use my Time Machine backup that was on an older version of OS X Snow Leopard should install a new version of OS X of El Capitan.

Can someone spend on certain instructions or practical information, so I can start again?

    Thanks in advance.

Start with the Snow Leopard DVD and partition and format the SSD drive. Partition GUID, format Mac OS Extended journaled scheme. Install OS X and restore from your time using Setup Assistant Machine. Run software update to get to 10.6.8 and access the Mac App Store, where you can evolve to El Capitan.

It is essential, you left some needed information. In my setup, I replaced the optical drive with an SSD and hard drive has left in place for storage. I have my operating system and the Applications on the SSD and my folder on the drive hard because I only installed a 250 GB SSD.

But when I try to watch my TV and access the video from my computer, TV says no file in this list. I have checked video files to share. The network recognizes that the TV is set up. I uninstalled Norton and disabled the windows firewall temporarily, without help. I think I open the appropriate ports. I can look at my pictures on the tv from my computer. Any ideas?

  • Need help to set up: 2 different wireless with SSID 2 routers on the same network

    Hi all:

I read on the forum trying to find the answer to this question, but have not found a very clear answer that satisfies all my requirements autour.  An explanatiion more in depth.

I have 1 IP coming via cable modem.  I want to configure two wireless routers (one secured with WPA-TKIP and a non-secure network - a 'guest' If you want to) each with different SSID.  The secure network would be for my server, PC home, webcams IP, DynDNS, update; While having an unsecured wireless router that friends and family can access.  Ideally, I don't want any person who accesses the router unsecured wireless to access my secure network.

Is someone can you please tell me if this is possible.  I think that it is based on some posts, I've seen, but specific details about how to do this would be appreciated.  In addition, my DynDNS must always be able to be updated with the IP of my ISP so that I can access my server and webcams home.

    MATERIAL

    2 WRT54G

    1 EZXS55W

    1 WVC200

    1 WVC54GC

(all my stuff - webcam, dyndns, server, etc. - working on my secure network.) I just need to add the non-secure network)

I know it's a lot, but I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

You must be connected to the modem router WRT54G main. Set up the network secure on the main router wireless. Connect all of your computers or wireless devices for the main secure wireless network.

Consider that the IP address of the main router is 192.168.1.1.

Now connect a single computer to Port 1 on the second router wireless.

Open the second wireless router configuration page. Settings wireless SSID, unsecured.

Change the IP address of the second router 192.168.2.1. Save the settings.

Connect the cable from the Ethernet port on the main router to the Internet second port router wireless.

The second power cycle wireless router.

Now the host computers connected to the second network unsecured wireless Wireless will be able to access the Internet only. They will not be able to see the computers or devices connected to the first router.

  • Cannot set up my new E4200 with Verizon FIOS on my Mac

    So, I bought an E4200 today. I don't know if it's v1 or 2. The box does not say v2, so I guess it's v1.

I'm putting in place so I have the latest version of the operating system Mac OS (10.8 Mountain Lion), the installation CD is not compatible. I'm doing a series of manual upward, and it seems that step 1 is to go to 192.168.1.1, which is the same IP that my FIOS router use, so I have everything go right instead of to the E4200.

Someone else did this thing works with Cougar and FIOS router?

    Excellent. You have an e4200v2.

You can look down to a few threads and see that on the issue of e2500 wireless access point. It has a link to how your linksys router cascade.

You can also google "e4200 Cisco support." to find your support page. Your support page will have all sorts of info including how to upgrade your firmware and how to connect your router.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 on new SSD after failure of hard disk, damaged, incomplete product key

I have a HP Pavilion.  The HARD drive recently failed completely, no possibility to recover data at the moment.  I ordered a set of HP recovery disks, but they seek the recovery on the HARD drive partition; There is no such partition that I replaced the HARD original with a new SSD drive.  To make things worse, the place that HP has chosen to put the Microsoft product key sticker resulted in the product being partially faded key.

So, to summarize: HP not Pavilion with a corrupt OEM HDD and so far no data recovery possible. a new SSD with no partitions on this subject; a set of recovery disks from HP that don't just work; a sticker with the product key with the first two digits of the product key (as well as some of the barcode, etc.) rubbed off because they have chosen to place the sticker on the bottom of a working computer instead of, say, under the battery, it can be protected.

If someone in the community has a suggestion as to how to install Win 7 (must be 7 on this system, cannot be an iteration of 8 or 10) from scratch, without having to buy it and with a corrupt OEM disc and a partial product key, I'd love to hear it.  Maybe it's time to install Debian on it?

Ahh, this is the crux of the problem... the bootmgr is missing.

To restore the windows off the factory restore DVD, you must configure the BIOS to use the DVD drive as the primary boot device. The machine will then start on the first DVD, and you will not get the above message.
