  I think you can install the drive and use your recovery disk to reinstall Windows.

  You can change the hard drive of your computer with a WD one Pavilion, just keep in mind that you need a 2.5 inch drive.   If you can still boot into Windows, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click on management of the disks in the left pane and when loaded partitions, make a right click of the recovery Partition and mark it as 'active '.  Close all open windows and restart - if it worked, the laptop boot from the recovery Partition during the restart.
