Need to change default domain/user for logon in Windows 7 and Vista guest...

I need to be able to change the default user domain\username login prompt. Team members where I work must be able to connect to a PC users perform a routine check, repair or warranty matenance etc and then reset the 'last loggon' to the user. This allows HIM to be able to hide our having been in their computer, a very important tool when doing security checks and looking for signs of use inappropriate computer, etc.

In Windows XP, we could use the hack Reg next to reset the default journal, prompt the user and the domain, we need.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DefaultUserName"="name of user.
'DefaultDomainName '=' domain name '.
"CachePrimaryDomain"="domain name".

These settings are in the reg of Win 7, but they don't seem to do anything.

What should I do so that these rule parameters and take control of the journal prompt?

Thank you

PS... In my humble OPINION News groups were better...

And now in recent years is the answer to my question... Where it should be in the group I had in there.

I found the following .bat file will allow you to set the user name for the next log in Windows 7. (Copy the next lines of text in a text file and give it a .bat extension, then run it as a local administrator).

Beginning of the .bat code to change the default name for the next journal newspaper in Win 7 *.

REM echo off

appeal reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI" / v LastLoggedOnSAMUser /t REG_SZ /d "Domain\Username" /f

appeal reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI" / v LastLoggedOnUser /t REG_SZ /d "Domain\Username" /f

pause

End of code for Win 7, log name *.

For Windows XP, the following .reg file can do the trick... Do the same as above, but use extension .reg...

Beginning of. Code REG to change the username by default for the next log in Win XP *.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DefaultUserName"="name of user.
'DefaultDomainName '=' domain name '.
"CachePrimaryDomain"="domain name".

End code .reg for Win XP login name *.

Hope this helps,

Ralph

As others have said - if your copy of WIndows came pre-installed, then they are OEM editions which cannot be transferred to another computer in all circumstances.

You can buy a license to upgrade to WIndows 7 for use on your desktop - but I suggest that you run upgrade first Advisor to ensure that the material can support the operating system properly.

Insofar as your laptop is slow, it's usually because of too much loading at startup, or malware.

Check what programs are loaded at startup - and which are loaded as Add - ons for Internet Explorer. Use the options in the program to stop everything you must actually run at startup (you can test temproarily using MSCONFIG, but use the options of the program for more permanent effects.)

  • Sharable desktop to any number (say up to 50) of users in Windows XP and Vista when all are connected to a wireless ad-hoc network? Or is there a limit on the number of users that can be shared? ___Thanks

Need to have this configuration in a classroom environment.

I don't know what you mean when you ask a desktop or sharing users.

A network computer can share files and printers with other computers, but there are limits that might make it unusable for you.  Windows XP and Vista allow 5 or 10 concurrent connections by other computers, depending on the version.

You need an operating system of Windows Server or Linux server to allow for more concurrent connections to shared files and printers.

I also fear that an ad - hoc network does not work well with 50 computers.

    Hi, CPC,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community!

You must install Flight simulator on vista as well as Windows Xp and vista are two different operating systems.

You log in to vista, you may not use any of the XP application and vice versa.

  • "No preview available": there are several files that I need to be able to preview and search for text that Windows 7 (and previous Windows) does not.

    original title: "no preview available".

There are fixes for older versions, but not Windows 7, I can find.  When I search the forums, the answers are pretty useless - along the lines of "well go on the forum of office" just because someone questioned the .doc files.  It is an old problem, old with MS and covered needs in a reasonable manner.

    Hi Jrawie,

If you want to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7, you won't lose iTunes music library. However, there is a chance of losing the music of iTunes library if you choose custom installation.

You can see the Microsoft article for more information on the upgrade:

  • Windows 7 and vista limit the number of files to select and print or open to 15. Need a work around to push this limit.

Windows 7 (and Vista) when you select more than 15 files in Explorer, the 'Print' and 'Open' selections under the 'File' menu disappear.  This is very annoying, because I work with a lot of text files and selecting them 15 at once is heavy and prone to errors.  I need a work around to raise this limit to about 60.  I never had no problem to do under XP or previous editions of windows.  I have a fast computer or memory but windows 7 won't let me use it: it of like buying a ferrari and the merchant sends a padlock on the accelerator and said "...". you will son... This is for your own safety! "It's very frustrating.

Maybe, it's a limitation of the program that you use to open the files. I use Windows Live Photo Gallery, and even if I select more than 500 files at the same time, the open and print commands can be used.

By the way: the number of places of a Ferrari is very limited. ;-)

  • Create a disc of the Encyclopedia Britannica, which is designed for up to Windows XP with Vista work. Is this possible?

Create a disc of the Encyclopedia Britannica, which is designed for up to Windows XP with Vista work. Is this possible?

    Hi Silas Martin,

I have not used Britannica for many years now, but I suppose there is a program of "installation"? If so, try compatibility mode.

1 / locate the setup.exe (or install file) for the program of Britannica

2 / right click on the file setup.exe or install.exe, and in the drop-down menu, select Properties.

3 / in the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab

4 / on the Compatibility tab place a 'TICK' in the box beside the box "run this program in compatibility mode for", then select the operating system Windows XP (Service Pack 3). This should automatically appear in the box under the run this program in compatibility mode for option. If Windows XP is not visible, then click on the arrow down to see a selection of the available operating system options.

    5 / click OK

6 / the installation program will now begin to install the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP

7 / once done, you should be able to run the program as if you were using Windows XP

  • Impossible to logon to share the folder with "User must change password at the next logon" in Windows Server 2003

I use Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 as a file server.  I create new user 'A' in Windows Server 2003 as well with the option "user must change password at the next logon" selected and give way under the group users and users in the domain for this user.  I then share an output folder.  User 'A' is using Windows XP SP3 to connect to this shared folder.  However, when I try to connect, Windows reappear to enter user name and password.  I think it is the limitation in Windows that the user 'A' will be unable to change the password at the next logon or change password at any point in time at all.  Correct me if I heard wrong.

If possible, can someone enlighten me what is wrong or what I need to do for user to access folder and change the password on the first logon.

If what I described is not possible, is there another way for me to configure for the user to access share folder so that the user doesn't have to join domain or user of the AD?

  • How do you determine the steps to use when they need to change the info in the diaglog box "WINDOWS SECURITY" of win 7, which asks the user and the password?

My background: I can only see this dialog box titled WINDOWS SECURITY when I want to access my log to router with my office router connection. The dialog box refers specifically to my router, and asking a user and a password.

A long time ago that I asked to remember and, of course, I forgot it and the location that I wrote. Now I am unable to determine what I thought, would be a simple reset and the steps that allow me to perform a reset. After a series of search phrases on Bing, and in the community of the SP as well as Win 7 Pocket administrator index I can't find the steps because the dialog box, it seems with the title of the WINDOWS SECURITY is too general.

I need to install a new router and need to change the user and password. I don't know if user and password are unique to the company of router or Microsoft Win 7. Nevertheless, I can reset thinking them they are unique to me and Microsoft because there is no query such as, "you forgot your password?', whereby get you a temporary.  These steps are already stationed in the community and I just can't get into the research phase right? (What is related to IE 11?) Thank you.

    > I need to install a new router and need to change the user and password.

Do you want to connect to your old router?  If Yes, most routers have built-in switch you tripping with a paper clip or similar to force a reset to the factory settings.  You can then access the default connection.

If it's the new router, it should be accessible with the factory default login. If you don't know please post that make the exact and the model of the router.

  • Logged in as admin. Cannot change the domain users group to the domain administrator

My domain administrator is defined as a domain user and I want to change it to domain administrator. The groups gathered outside the account > users > Admin > groups section.

    Hello Tripline,

Please provide number and firmware version of your ReadyNAS model.

What's your ReadyNAS built-in AD? The ReadyNAS will simply copy the accounts of the ADS in your ad. Existing domain user, 'Administrator' should be adjusted to have administrator rights. I guess you should change everything first, and then integrate the NAS again to the AD.

    Kind regards

  • Page numbers need to change automatically when users add a new page to a form fillable

In the headers and footers, I chose < < Page 1 of n > >. My form is a long page, but I have a button that allows you to create a second page if the user needs. However, if a user decides to create a second page, the footer does not '1 1' '1 of 2' on the first page and then "2 of 2" on the second page. "" Instead, the two say just '1 1'. How can I change this so that when users add new page, it changes the numbering?

    Thank you!

This would require the use of a script that generates the page numbers

automatically whenever the file is loaded or saved.
