  Hi Matthias,

  Password, you can protect the form in the designer of the LC. This means that a person opening the form in the designer of the LC will need the password, but users opening the form in Acrobat will not have the password.

  

  Check the permissions (green) password. If you check the (red) from the top, then the user with Acrobat/Reader will also require the password.

  This goes someway to protect the form, but it is not completely safe. Someone with a little know-how and tools can potentially ignore this.

  With the second option, the user always sees the PDF and buttons can show/hide sections. However what is back is just the data in XML format. You must then re-import this XML data in the form to see.

  Just a point in what concerns the script. It seems that you have an object or a subform called "hidden". I wouldn't recommend this as 'hidden' can be a reserved word and Acrobat can get confused. Something like "hiddenSF" or similar is preferred. So if you use the first option (which is preferable), all objects could be attributed to a normal/name of the object binding > binding tab and you have script before the submission script:

  Needless to day, I installed the latest version. I even reinstalled using the link in the message, but nothing helped. Whenever I click on the link to go forward, I get the same message. Question: (i) is it my PC/software (Vista), (ii) is the site where I'm trying to submit the form, or (iii) is it the software acrobat reader. Note that I used successfully the last version to fill out and sign forms.

  It is none of them. It's Chrome, which is ignoring Adobe Reader and showing the message.

  Solution: just save the document (with the message) to your desktop. Then open it in Adobe Reader. The 'real' should then display.

  You can configure a data connection with an Excel spreadsheet. However, for the data connection caring for users of Reader, you need to activate Reader with LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2.5 (server component) form. See here for the summary: http://assure.ly/etkFNU.

  However, if you just try to get existing data into shape, you should have a look at some of the posts by Stefan Cameron: http://forms.stefcameron.com/ (try a search). You can start a new form by using the wizzard and select import into Excel. This will allow you to paste your spreadsheet to a new form. This should help to put in place the structure/data schema, which you can then reproduce in a new form. I've not done this before, but it should be possible.

According to this condition, the user must provide more information before proceeding with the application. The idea is a popup window and force the user to include the information in this window. I have two questions here:

  Hi Kanu,

  These issues concern some fundamental concepts in CVI, you need to study or refresh.

  As you may know, the simpler you have a modal window in CVI is to use InstallPopup after loading the Panel: is the guarantee that the user cannot access other panels before closing the popup panel (Finally, there are other ways and a few caveats to my assertion, but let's first passing the simplest).

  When the user clicks OK, close or no matter what button place you on this Panel, you need to retrieve the value of the relevant controls with GetCtrlVal, validate them some way according to the nature of the control and your needs and only if it is valid, close the Panel with DiscardPanel (or RemovePopup if you need to reuse and don't want to reload).

  Passage of the second round table data is done via SetCtrlVal.

  As you can see, these are very general concepts, which may or may not apply to your application. In case you have doubts please add some details to your question.

  There are basically three approaches to do this:

  1. use adobe contribute. This isn't a very good program, but it might be your best option. Easy to set up.

  2 build the site on a platform like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal CMS, etc - it's more work for you (if you have never worked with these software) and also more work for your friend, but the result may be good enough.

  3. write a custom CMS (content management system) using PHP/MySQL technology or similar. But you need to know how to program for it. This may be the best solution, but it requires programming skills.

  This will allow to create the user interface using HTML5 and use your scripts for the conduct of AE.  It is quite a bit easier than the use of cocoa for the construction of the UI panel.  Thoughts?
