  • Recovery DVDs reformatted partitions 'SYSTEM', 'RECOVERY' and 'HP_TOOLS '?

My laptop is dv3-2313tx, it works Windows 7 system. I got the HP recovery DVD.

I decided to use DVD factory restore my computer, of course, this erases my data on the 'C' partition, but I wonder if it will also format the entire hard drive and restore the other three partitions ('SYSTEM', 'RECOVERY' and 'HP_TOOLS')?

Frankly, I really wish that the DVD will be ANY FORMAT, I like a new laptop clean. is this true?

Booting from the recovery DVD formats the entire hard drive and recreates partitions.

    Hey @happypouch ,

These options will wipe your HARD drive and data. I create a back up of your documents by using the Windows backup and restore options. Unfortunately, most people think to back up their files, after that it's too late, it is better to ask for now rather than later.

Please tell us exactly what you mean by "system recovery." And exactly how you did.

If you mean the system recovery provides the manufacturer of your computer, what it does is to restore the computer to the State it is in when it left the factory. Yes, all your photos and anything else put you on the disk is gone.

    Hello

"What to do if you forget your password Windows 8/8.1"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-do-forget-Windows-password#1TC=Windows-8

If you have forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to recover or reset:

    • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.

    • If you use a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more information, see the Web to reset your password page.

    • If you use a local account, use your index of password as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still unable to connect:

    • If you have Windows 8.1, you will need to reinstall Windows.

    • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your PC.

  • My office has just done a repair XP after a hardware change and now all user accounts have disappeared and he asks the administrator password when connecting!

We have a unique system of Windows XP that run the software of engineering for certain calculations. All other systems running Windows 7, but what a XP system because it's the only thing that our calculations software runs on.

CPU of the XP computer died on us and we had to replace the card mother and CPU. After the change of equipment, following Microsoft's OWN guide on the running an XP repair, we ran the system repair and got all the way to the login screen (no blue screen not as before repair). However, none of the accounts are there and he asks an administrators password. The system has NEVER had a password to our knowledge, it was built in the House, and all simply by clicking on the Administrative login asks for a password.

What can we do? We needed this fix before today and wait for the repair of the system to do. Is it possible to enter the system to run the software? We tried the SafeMode (all forms) and they all will ask a password after Windows loading.

    It's so frustrating.

(PS I have been building computers for nearly 15 years and have never had this happen)

Thanks for the quick response. I looked into the system with a "start-up" program All original profiles seem to still be there. I don't know how to make them appear well. Can you direct me or tell me, how to make profiles see the place?

The biggest problem, outdoors is not be able to sign more, is that the engineering calculation software is locked to this PC. It can be installed anywhere else without having to pay for a VERY new (I think that thousands of dollars) expensive key or a new version of the software.

    :(

    Yes, it's a problem.
I believe you can use a UBCD4Win CD or Hiren Boot CD to locate and right click on the files you want to change. And then, if you properly in your repair facility, you change the attributes after you're done.
Some guides are better than others. And here's one that I like:
If necessary, hire a PC Tech. It's much cheaper than buying a license that is thousands of dollars!
  • I need your help. I forgot my administrator password.

Please I need your help.  I'm not knowledgeable enough to solve computer problems.  Is it possible to recover or reset a new administrator password?

  • I forgot my administrator password and I have no disc reset!

IM on a desktop computer I typed my password it didn't work I tried all my passwords I always knew before didn't work am I stuck with a guest user? and im also on windows 7 Professional

    Hi Marcus,

    Please contact the Microsoft Community.

I apologize for the delay in responding to your request. You have a problem with the admin password is not eligible not on computer. It must be difficult that you can not connect to the computer. I appreciate all the efforts you have put in institutions. I'm here to help you solve the problem and guide you in the right direction.

It's in the Microsoft Policy to provide a work around for this problem. Here is what you try-

    (a) click on the indication of password and try to remember the password.

    (b) suddenly look at the paperwork or records. There is a possibility that you might have written it down somewhere.

    (c) ensure that the CAPS on the keypad lock is disabled in case your password has not all characters that require the CAPS LOCK feature.

If the suggestions do not help, then I would have you look at this article.

  • Qosmio G30 - need two Windows operating systems: Vista and XP

    Hello

can someone help me on the following application procedures:
I need two operating systems on my Qosmio: Vista and XP
I have two drives RAID inside my Qosmio and I installed Vista on the first.

I tried to install XP on the second hard drive and I did (I have inserted XP installation disk and sellected second disc for installation), but after installation I got just the XP startup option.

I can see all the files of Vista on the first disc, but allows boot XP only. Directory Windows XP was intalled on second drive, but boot.ini and some system files have been at the root of the first disc.

I liked Vista and I repeated the procedure (with my recovery CD of Vista) and now I have Vista on the first disc and all files of XP on the second disc. I do not study how to get full XP on the second disk bootable system.

    What I need:
Vista on the first hard drive.
    XP on the second disk

I would have completely independent Windows System. This means that I have to start selection of BIOS, not Vista or XP.

    Hello

It's very strange. If you have installed the first Vista and XP as a second OS then the Vista boot manager must exist usually.

Please note that Vista uses 2 partitions. A partition is not visible. I hope that you have installed XP on this partition.

In any case, I recommend you to create a new partition on the first HARD drive and you could install XP as second operating system.

After this installation, you can use applications freeware like EasyBCD or VistaBootPRO to change the Vista Boot Manager.

  • just do a system recovery and it got slow

    Hello

I assume you mean checkdisk found no errors, if it's very good.

Avast! 5 and malwarebytes should not cause problems. Are there others on the
