Need Windows XP Service Pack 3 CD to scan sfc

The original title: Service Pack 3 disk

has ran sfc/scannow and it asks for service pack 3 disc.  do not have SP3 disk; one has been downloaded.

Here's the deal. SFC/scannow is essentially useless. Yes, it is possible to use the slipstream process and create an installation CD bootable XP which will be integrated into SP3. And Yes, it is possible to use it with a system at the level of the SP3 and then run SFC/scannow.

But...
It will probably not help you a bit!
If you've hung around this forum long enough, you will see a number of people well intentioned (the technical support engineers often so-called MIicrosoft!) suggests that users run SFC. But it is almost always the bad advice. Even if one can understand how to move through all of the hoops to make it work, it probably won't resolve the problem is to have the user.
That being said, assuming you're the curious type...
If you want to run SFC/scannow, SP levels must match. So if you have Windows XP installed on your hard drive and it has been updated to SP3 level and you want to run the SFC, it is better to have an installation CD of Windows XP which is at the level of the SP3. Yes, it is possible to copy this CD i386 folder to a location on your hard drive (usually C:\i386) and modify a registry setting:
There are a lot of hits on Google using the slipstream SP3 into a Windows XP installation CD (and Yes, this will result in a new bootable CD):

  • Compatibility "run this program in compatibility mode for" not showing "Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

    Hello

I have multiple copies of Windows 7 Pro x 64.  Click with the right button on a program and select 'Properties' and then click on the Compatibility tab, most of them under "run this program in compatibility mode for" a ton of options going all the way back to windows 98.   Several have only options for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista.  I need "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" as an option on all computers.  I don't see where you install.  My research are presented only how to install a Windows XP virtual machine, I must separate environment, I need this option so that the program works on computers (it can change the routing table, and makes to the virtual machine is not useful).

What must be installed to the "Windows XP (Service Pack 3) option appear?

    Thank you

    Charlie

If the program in question can be run in compatibility for a specific version of the operating system, then the option will appear in the drop-down list.

Not all programs can be run in compatibility for all versions.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hello world
    "I have a ' Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4 - M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB / 768 MB.
I have installed Windows XP Service pack 2 in my book.
After the update to Windows XP SP2, the only way to start my computer after putting in "sleep mode" or "hibernation mode" is witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver", but nothing came of it.

What can I do about it?

    Kind regards
    Krasteff

Obviously the Service Pack 2 does not match current preinstalled saver.

First installation, you have is to wait for an updated version of Toshiba Power Saver, which is XP Service Pack 2 tested. But so far, you have no "Standby" or "hibernate".

Installation of the second. If you need to "Standby" or "Hibernate" feature, uninstall Service Pack 2 and wait until there is a solution to the problem of energy saving.

The two sounds is not perfect, but I think the second installation is the best way. Toshiba will surely bring a new Service Pack 2 tested Power Saver version.

    Good bye

Another way to look at this question is to get information of the event viewer on the failure that occurred.  To review event viewer / click on the ORB Start / computer right click / Select manage / select event viewer.

Find the information in Event Viewer on the failure of the update installation and provide this information on the forum.  As well as if there is an error, you receive what it is and ID # is.
