Network keeps reconnecting on Satellite A80

I have a network problem on my Satellite A80.

I am connected to the LAN in my student dorm. Right after that I start my computer, I am connected to the network. After some time (2-5 minutes) I am disconnected (my computer continues to send bytes over the LAN, but does receive all the bytes). Then after a while (also 2-5 minutes), I get again connected to the local network and can surf the internet for a while, but I eventually disconnected again. And so on and on.

300 students on our local area network do not have this problem.

When I run Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool, my computer has failed the network test.

I have updated to Microsoft XP Service Pack 2.

What could be the problem?

Hello

You have the same LAN settings as other students? I guess the IP address must be set on automatically.

As far as I know this device comes with SP2 and don? t need any updates. Try to remove LAN card from Device Manager, and then restart the device. What is the status of network card device in the properties?

  • Re: Satellite A80 PSA87E - need network drivers

I reinstalled XP Home on my satellite (A80), using the drivers from the Toshiba site (Archives), that I have everything working except the 'Network controller' and 'Ethernet controller'.

I installed the network utility, the Config Free, utility Chipset, etc...

But they still appear in devices such as manager having not installed drivers. I tried a couple of drivers from other laptops, but these don't work either (because of inaccurate previous searches for drivers)

Can someone tell me exactly to the correct drivers that I can not go further with it until I can connect to the net.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can make.

    Hello!

I searched on the Toshiba site but I didn't find any network or WLAN driver. I put t know why but that s the reason why you get n t network and working Ethernet controller.

I think you should search on external websites for drivers.
As far as I know you have card LAN Marvell so site search of Marvell (http://www.marvell.com/) and for your wireless network card, you can search on the Toshiba WLAN (http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/) Portal

  • Satellite A80-116 is online, but IE cannot display Web pages

    Hello

I have problems to go on internet with my satellite A80-116.
I used to go online via a cell phone, which has been slow, but it worked.
I tried to get online wireless via a router and also the State of the connection said that the computer is connected to internet, internet explore do not open, the same thing happened when I tried to connect via LAN.

Internet Explorer is opening for a split second then the message came, the page cannot be displayed. Unfortunately, now, it doesn't even work with the cellularphone anymore...

does anyone have any advice for me?
    Greetings from the Jamaica,
    hotinja

    Hello

Believe me; It's not easy to give you a precise answer of 100% and the solution.
But I'll try my best ;)

From your description of the LAN or WLan card is unable to assign the IP address correctly. You should try to verify the State of the connection. To do this, simply right-click on the network icon in the taskbar. Also, try to repair the connection.

If you use the WiFi network, please make sure that you use the encryption of law and that the MAC address filtering was not established on the Wlan router

If this doesn't help I would recommend refreshing WLan LAN drivers.

    Good luck

  • W LAN Chip for Satellite A80 121

    Hello...

As I have a Toshiba Satellite A80 - 121 (PSA80E) configuration for a client, I've found that when you enter the description of the model to the Toshiba driver download area, you get no WLAN driver but a link to a how-to page. Here you have to choose between four different driver files... unfortunately I do not know the name of the integrated wireless LAN device, then... What can I do to find out which driver is the one I should install?

Check the Device Manager or network settings did not help get all necessary information. operating system is Windows XP Professional SP3... any idea?

    Hello

I think you have a WLan Intel card!

Relative to the European Toshiba driver page you will also find a social driver WLan manufacturing/name and the page said an Intel.
It also provides a possible Intel WLan driver versions; 11.5.0.32 / 9.0.4.37

So download Intel WLan driver from the Toshiba page and choose the 9.0.4.37 or version 11.5.0.32

  • Need help for installing the drivers on Satellite A80

    Hello
I just reinstalled windows xp and have some problems to install my windows drivers. I lost my original cd and downloaded the drivers from your site. I followed the instructions but when I tried to find the driver for example the controller drivers network, windows can't find them. I placed them on my desk, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I have a toshiba Satellite A80, with an nvidia card. If you would like more information just ask and i´ll try to give them, thank you for your effort
    Greetz Mex

    Hello

The compatible network driver is placed on the page of Toshiba. I know, I checked the page.
More like in the post above suggested, you must decompress the folder of the driver first before you start the installation of the driver.

What you should also know, is that the proper installation order is necessary. Installation instructions, you will find on the Toshiba site. Download this document and follow the guide line.

    -Bios: v1.50

This isn't a laptop problem, but certainly something wrong with your Microsoft software.
In addition the Toshiba laptops are not delivered with Microsoft Office software.

I think you should contact Microsoft technical support for more details.

A hint; I recommend reinstall the MS Office XP again. Do not update from Office 97 to Office XP, but perform a new installation.

After the new installation, refer to the MS Update site and install all belonging to Office XP updates

  • Satellite A80-115: reader of DVD Multi not closing

My Satellite A80-115 multi DVD player has problems of closure; I sometimes try up to 10 times before locking the drive in place.
    Everyone knows about similar problems?

    Thank you

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

As you will understand, the CD tray use a mechanical lock to hold it firm when you use. The latch is locked to prevent opening while the disc actually rotates the drawer.

If you have problems closing the drawer, then it will probably indicate wear or damage the physical locking mechanism. Access to the lock will be the degree of disassembly and it will be very difficult to opbtain the components of the lock, so I think that the best option would be to replace the disk.

If your device is still covered by a warranty it should be done by authorized service center.

If your warranty has expired, then you can consider replacing the drive yourself. Several suppliers are located on the internet.

  • Satellite A80-154: Questions on BIOS/cooling

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently bought a Satellite A80 154 of the German retailer "Media Markt" for only EUR 1299,-.

Although the general impression of the laptop is fine, I have two questions that make me think back to the seller. The questions are:

    (1) cooling system is too strong, in particular Linux, which is my main platform. However, the problem occurs on Windows, where I am able to slow down the CPU frequency (but not GPU) with an average success in terms of reduction of sound intensity.

    (2) bios of a laptop is by Phoenix and not Toshiba, which I expect to find (it's a big problem for me, since the Linux kernel for Toshiba laptops support is much better than that of Phoenix BIOS).

    Here are my questions:

Toshiba selling different versions of the Satellite A80 154? (for example a good market with Phoenix bios and more expensive with a Toshiba bios and improved cooling). If they did, I would invest the additional EUR 300,- and buy one directly from Toshiba (if possible at all). I also ask, because I tried to update the Bios with version 1.70 - WIN (is this Toshiba BIOS?) from the BIOS download site unfortunately without success (he complains about the size of the bad bios).
Is it possible to operate an A80-154 with BIOS Toshiba (and this would reduce the level of noise)?

    Sincerely yours.
    Martin Spindler.

    Hello

1, on the volume of the cooling system, I can only advice you the Toshiba Power Saver or 4.23 SPEEDFAN tool.

2, which has your BIOS model depends on the series of products. If you want a Toshiba BIOS, you must choose a laptop as the M40 Satellite, Tecra M3, Tecra A4 or Tecra M4.
You can also ask your local dealer or test it!

  • Recovery CD is not repeated? Satellite A80

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A80. It came with 2 CDs a recovery CD and a "CD for additional software.

My intention was to format the pc, but I've had problems.

When I boot the recovery CD, there are 3 options: "Delete all Partitions", "Crush the Installation" and "Uninstall Express Media Player". I tried all these options, but none of them install windows XP, which is what it was preinstalled. When I start the laptop from the hard drive, it says "not found operating system"

I hope I can get help here.

    Thank you!!

Are you sure that you have started since the right recovery CD?
You must start from the Toshiba OS recovery CD and not from the Express Media Player recovery CD!

    Don't mix the two CDs!

  • Satellite A80 135 impossible to reinstall the operating system using the recovery disk

    Hello

Ive got a laptop 2005 Satellite a80-135 that worked very well until I tried to format the HDD after a performance of Ram boost operation (kingston 1 gb Ram module).

    Just after that, the computer started showing software problems and finally crashed;
So I decided to reinstall the entire operating system yet. and here, I found the problem I really hope you can help me

The thing is that I can't format my hard drive to my cd player (with recovery CD in) when the machine is restarted.
In theory, start the Panel menu should appear after the computer reboot with the C key simountaneously key but nothing happens.

    Thanks in advance
    concerning
    jozze

    Hello

Simply, the C button the STRANGE start.
You can also try to press F12 after the laptop has been powered.
Then the start menu should appear on the screen and then you could choose the ODD (optical disc) in order to boot from the CD.

If this is not possible, the question is perhaps related to WEIRD malfunction or recovery disk.
Maybe the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc properly and so the laptop can not boot from the disc.
You can try to copy the recovery CD using another computer and might try to start using the copied CD.
If it does not the problem might be related to the WEIRD failure.

I removed the safe mode, due to a problem with the Pinnacle Codec installed by Pinnacle Studio 10.
Now, I need to put the video standard in audio codecs.
I already downloaded the Microsoft Mediaplayer codec package and video sound new fr in Media Player.
Unfortunately I have always its program to diagnose Toshiba during the test of its Midi and Wave.
