New ACR

Hey everybody,

With the new update of photoshop cc, I noticed that ACR has become crazy. I mean it sparkles and even when I crank the sliders to the maximum, the effect of is almost not noticeable. Anyone facing the same issue? and if so, all I have to do to fix this. Also, I use the latest version updated 3 days ago.

Open your Camera Raw preferences and uncheck the option of GPU and see if that solves the problem.

  • New ACR with CS5 and LR3.4.1 installation problem

I received error messages when I try to edit in Photoshop, telling me that I need to update my ACR in order to move forward.  I get almost throughout the installation (after closing LR3 and CS5) when I'm told to close the bridge.  I don't use Bridge and it has not been opened at any time during the installation attempt.  I'd appreciate any help that would allow me to complete the installation.  Thank you.

Adobe didn't do this every year.

About 2 or 3 months before the releases a new version of photoshop elements, adobe photoshop elements camera raw plugin was updated constantly, regardless of how many versions of acr appear before the next version of the EP.

Whereas until now I can say, and according to adobe, cab 9.5 is the most recent adobe version provides pse 14 If you use help > updates, while PES 14 can use the latest version of the plugin 9.7 camera raw should install it manually.

Don't know if there will be a main structural element 15, but if there is, and history is an indication, pse 15 should be out at the end of September or early October.

In other words, pse 15 might be out any day now.

  • Bridge does not refresh the thumbnails after changes in ACR.

Bridge does not refresh the thumbnails after changes in ACR. Cultures made in ACR do not show more. I think it started after new ACR update. I have the last bridge and ACR and Photoshop.

I thought about it. I have reset the settings of the bridge by pressing Command-Option-shift and then started bridge on my Mac. I lost my sight, I got but should display what I want to see again. But it solved the problem of the bridge not updated after modified ACR.

  • Unable to show the new camera RAW files

I recently bought a new Sony A7r MK2. Elements of 13 not recognize or import the RAW files from this camera. I think it has something to do with the format file has not been updated in elements yet, but there is no currently available updates. I studied this a few years ago for lightroom. A version of lightroom will formats support only certain camera, then you must buy the next version of lightroom for RAW format later. I suspect that this may be the case here. 13 items worked perfectly and my 6 month old Sony 77Mk2 is always important. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the links.

I agree that 13 elements supports up to 9,0 ACR and I need 9.1.1 as you mention.

I downloaded and installed the trial version of items 14 and who would still be NOT open raw from my A7R Mk2. help files > update simply confirmed the program has been updated. However today the program update itself with a cab new version 9.2 and now, finally, it will open my RAW files. Even better that that, I managed to manually install the new 9.2 ACR in items 13 (follow your links above to see how to do that) and who also gave the possibility to open my new RAW files to my 13 items.

So overall - complete a victory with the new ACR update.

Thank you for your help and links.

  • Update ACR 5.5 problems

I'm in PSE 7 on a laptop Vista 64-bit. I downloaded the new RAW converter file. I followed the instructions in the Readme for installation on PSE 7, do I think the adjustments for Vista 64 bits which were not explicitly stated. I ran the indicated such CameraProfiles.exe. Then, after you rename the file Camera Raw.8bi existing, I copied the updated file in the following folder:

    C:/programs (x 86) / Adobe/Photoshop Elements 7.0/Plug-ins/File formats

I then started to PSE 7 and opened a RAW file, the file is opened very well in RAW Editor, but Version wasn't even 4.5, 5.5.

When I closed the image, the thumbnail in the organizer has been replaced by a broken icon. The image nevertheless opens fine in ACR, but no thumbnail.

Then I noticed he had a Win64 folder in the download that I failed to note the original. I copied this version in the location above with essentially the same results, ACR 4.5 shown as version at the top of the workspace RAW Edit and icon broken in the Organizer.

I tried to revert to the original ACR 4.5 and still no sticker.

I also used the repair orders, Uptimize and miniature update does not.

I wonder if the labels on the ACR 5.5 file are incorrectly indicating 4.5?

Also, I'm vaguely rememmbering to its own cab file in the Organizer?

So I have questions - how install the new ACR (if I was doing it wrong) and most importantly, how to recover my nail of the thumb for these images I loaded into the editor of ACR?

By the way: I have PSE 8 responsible trial also but have not done anything with the update or even looking at his version of ACR - do it now.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

    Don S.

Also, once you have the correct cab installed (and checked by importing a new raw file), if thumbnails appear always broken, select them and edit > update thumbnail.

I'm under 10 elements on a Windows PC.

I can download raw files with the file extension CR2 that have been taken with my Canon 60 d, charging at ACR. However, my beautiful shiny new 7 d Mark II produces raw files with the extension of file CR2, but these are not recognized by the elements.

I downloaded the updates (today), restarted my computer, and yet they are not recognized. Can anyone help please?

Even if raw files have the same extension, they have different formats: each camera model has its own format, and older software are unable to deal with new cameras. New ACR conversion modules are created, but they are not compatible with older versions of items.

FAQ: Photoshop Elements will work with my camera, or why does not open my raw files?

Devices supported by Adobe Camera Raw

Do you need elements of 13 or 14.

Or you can download the free Adobe DNGconverter which is an independent software (not a plugin) which can batch convert a whole folder of your raw files to DNG format raw that your 10 items can read and modify.

  • Layer stacking in portrait retouching

I have a small question about a complicated problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with as painlessly as possible.  If there are videos, books, tutorials or anything that deals with this topic I'll be happy to buy what it takes.  My problem is 99% of layers.  I am a headshot photographer and have been using Photoshop for many years.  I'm so not a newbie or layers, but I sometimes have some degree of difficulty with the stacking order.  I also edit other photographers who know little or nothing for the Ps and then stacking becomes more a problem for someone who didn't actually change the photo.  Specifically, I'm trying to learn the best practices to CONTROL things while it is always possible to go back and change something from a lower layer.  However, my problem is that I often need to do a flattened layer (Mac: shift + opt + cmd - E) and then do something from that moment.  This, of course renders curves adjustments and other useless insofar as the changes you want to make later due to layers above it being cooked in the future. I'm not quite clear what adjustments MUST be on pixelated layers and which ones can be on a layer empty.  If anyone has any advice on this I would be very happy - OR - can just tell me where I could find instructions on this specific topic.  Finally, if there is a better forum for me to post this I'll be happy to do so

Thanks a lot for your time and your consideration.

Yes, "visible buffer" is the same thing you called flatten layers (shift + opt + cmd + E); but there is a new layer as opposed to the flattening just what is already there.  Just semantic, we do the same thing.  The goal is to do what you can not destructive (without visible stamp), and it looks like you do when you don't have to:

Spot Healing: You can open a new empty layer and use the clone/stamp tool, just make sure to check "sample all layers".  In this way the layer account your changes, not a complete copy of the entire image.  Makes it easier to choose the changes and reduces the overall size of the document.

Frequency of separation must have its own layers.  Nothing you can do about it, that's why I do it first.  Just a note: If you go to SF, you must decide whether or not you want to spot before healing.  In most cases, at least for portraits, you should do you spot healing in FS.  It is one of the major advantages.  If I'm just something about cloning in the background, I do not necessarily want to do in FS, because it is faster on the outside, but any changes in this area should be done in the FS.  In my humble OPINION anyway.

I don't know how you Dodge and burn, there are several ways.  But you can do absolutely not destructive.  I recommend either using a method of 50% gray, or just white and black in a soft light or overlay blending mode.  Both methods require no visible stamp.

Eyes and teeth whiting also have several methods, many are non-destructive.  I usually do in Lightroom when I convert RAW (I think you can also do this in the new ACR? in Photoshop).  But if you use jpg or want to do it in Photoshop, it is just as easy and non-destructive.  Use a combination of curves and hue/saturation adjustment layers.  I prefer to use curves for lightness, it gives me more control, but the tint/Sam has a slider for lightness.  If they have yellow teeth, I reduce yellow saturation as well.

All the colors and tones should be made non-destructive, through adjustment layers.

Sharpening depends on how you do.  Yet once again, I do in RAW conversion.  The only thing I do in Photoshop is either a high-pass filter, or I can do manually in the layer of high-frequency F.S.  I prefer often do as a separate layer high pass in the end, because I don't like too strong an effect and get a better idea of how I want to at the end of the installation.

To summarize, the only visible stamp that I use is really for the separation of frequency, so I do it at the beginning.

  • Camera Raw for PSE 12 8.3?

I currently have Camera Raw with PSE 12 8.0.0.137, but I need Camera Raw 8.3 to support the Sony A7r. What should I do?

Normally, see help-> updates and the new ACR will be installed.

However, this will not work if you use XP or Vista.

  • CS3 is not opening. CR2 files

I can't Photoshop or bridge to recognize/open .cr2 files. I have Camera Raw pug-in 4.6 installed, fully updated CS3, Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and photos are taken with an EOS 7 d. Cannot get my head around what is happening here. The funniest is that format .cr2 appeared in bridge prefs as supported.

    Someone has an idea?

    Best regards

    Jan

Each camera model should be specifically supported in Camera RAW and Adobe updates Camera RAW series for the latest version of Photoshop, which was CS4 when the 7 d came out only.

There are several things you can do:

Convert the CR2 files to DNG using the latest version of the DNG Converter, which is free.  DNG files will be opened in older versions of ACR.

CS3 to CS5 upgrade to get the latest ACR, which will help the new cameras.

Retrieves the elements 8 (or 9 in a month or two) that supports a fairly new ACR but cannot process a single image at a time.

For about the same price one update of Photoshop, you can buy Lightroom 3 and have the new RAW conversion engine, but still be able to edit in Photoshop for images that need additional work.  LR upgrades are much cheaper than Photoshop upgrades.

In my opinion, the most recent treatment 6.1 ACR and LR 3 RAW engines has make a LR3 or CS5 upgrade worth the price.

  • How to make PS CS3 to see raw images

I had to upgrade my computer and the new computer is Windows 7 64-bit with an environment of four main system.  It came with 7 preloaded items and it works very well with raw images.  CS3 apparently loaded without any problems, but when I try to open a raw image I get a message 'not the right kind of document.  Have activated the plugin raw and that's where and the correct version.  Would it be the 64-bit gives the problem,

Each camera RAW format should be specifically supported by Adobe Camera RAW so the version of ACR you use would have been released after that your camera model was available for sale.

Since you're re-installing, you probably just need to update to the last version compatible with your products, because Adobe does not update the installation media whenever a new ACR is released.  CS3 will use the last ACR 4.x. who I think was 4.6.  You can find the latest version of your CS3 and PSE7 on the next page, where the instructions for Photoshop and elements are slightly different, so each must be updated separately:

    http://www.Adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows

PSE7 will probably accept a version newer than PS, itself, so instructions for PSE7 can be in a different version.

Another way to find the location of the plug-in is to search your entire hard drive "Camera RAW.8bi" and replace those with the one you download for ACR 4.6.

  • New camera profile is not "appearance" in ACR, but it does in Lightroom

I recently created a profile of the camera to a Nikon D200, using a graphic picture of X-Rite Colorchecker and the chart feature in the DNG Editor.  I exported the camera profile.  When I go into the Calibration tab in ACR 5.5, the new profile does not appear in the drop-down menu with the other profiles of the camera.  However, when I go in the development of Lightroom 2.5 module, the new profile appears in the menu dropdown there.

I am running Windows 7.  Browse my root drive I find that if I look in the directory Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles (referenced in the book of Fraser and Schewe CS4 Camera Raw as a location for profiles Vista) I can't find camera profiles, and when I place the new profile here it does not always appear in ACR.  When I look in the directory ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D200 I see the regular profile set of camera for the camera, as well as that I created, but as I said earlier, the newly created profile does not appear in the list of ACR.

A side note: I did a few tests with the camera profile names.  I added "XX" at the end of the name of profile Nikon Vivid (not post), and then this profile no longer appears in the list of profiles ACR.  I removed the extra letters and then the profile reappears in the list of profiles ACR.  Seemed strange behavior for me.  I also noticed that the profile that I created with the DNG Editor is significantly smaller that the others are provided by Adobe (28K against 110 k).

Hope someone has a suggestion for me.

Not sure why the profile does not appear in the two ACR and Lightroom when correctly in user-level file... should be. Also note that the reason the folder user level and not the ProgramData folder is only the admin level users can write to the ProgramData folder. Level user folder is the folder proposed because most any level the user can write to the user folder.

Regarding the relative size, DNG Profile Editor and created Adobe DNG - EP written profiles simplified while vender Adobe profiles are highly tuned and adjusted. I suspect that this makes them more...

Just a note, you exit and then restart the two _and_ Photoshop bridge after writing the DNG profiles for your level user, correct folder? I ask because some people have the bridge works without realizing it is running. Sure that the connection of ACR requires both apps either quits and restarted (you should not restart the computer if).
