  SpeedGrade works great as a standalone version of ranking. In this mode, you can use tell a NLE EDL or import a long clip and use scene detection to break up in scenes/camera-cuts and such. In this mode, it creates its own project files, the .ircp ones.

  You can also stand-alone/mode natively just to create a new project, add clips to a timeline and ranks, exporting separate clips or as a sequence.

  The link Direct with Premiere Pro process is a little different... you need to start with a project in Premiere Pro, have direct comparative version of SpeedGrade and then use the command "send direct SpeedGrade" of Premiere Pro, OR... to within SpeedGrade, use the 'Open' option... «to navigate to a PrPro of dialog boxes file, with the end of .prproj, project and opened in SpeedGrade.» When you're done working, you can then either simply save your work which is then saved in the project file PrPro and exit, or save the file and return to the PrPro.

  Using a project file PrPro in the Di-Link mode, many functions for SpeedGrade are "grayed out", as say something on the timeline itself... you cannot change the length of a clip or even add a layer of ranking to the timeline. To do no more needs to be done in PrPro. To have another above - to-claw ranking layer mode Di - L, you add an adjustment layer on the clip/s under PrPro, then use PrPro as a layer of ranking.

  So from CMA, you should be limited along with the media EDL import, or export the sequence of the CMA and import it in Sg do scene detection, then changing the final file of: Sg.

  A single subscription App is not eligible.

  Avid Media Composer is not an Adobe product. Not sure why it is relevant to mention here.

  I'm gona put in place a system intended primarily for use with Avid Media Composer. I'm going for a mid-range i7-950 system and card mother Asus Sabertooth x 58. But I'm not quite shure wich VGA card to go, which would be an overdose etc.

  I am using a Quadro 2000 or FX3800, maybe even a FX580 will do the job ok. But I'm open to suggestions here. Which one would you pick? A GFX card is optional? They don't list them as "supported" here: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=365919

  Well, that's very kind of you to say, but unfortunately, most of us here are mainly or strictly Adobe Premiere Pro, and Avid Media Composer users. Given that, I would not trust most of us to comment on AMC

• Pictures too dark compared to Media Composer

  I recently ran a few comparisons between Premiere Pro and Media Composer, just to see if there is a difference in the quality of the exported both videos when I stumbled upon this question.

  First of all, let me clarify my machine parameters:

  I use a PC under Windows 7 64-bit.

  Processor: Intel Core i7 - 4790K @ 4.00 GHz

  RAM: 16 GB

  I have two graphics cards:

  (1) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

  (2) Intel HD 4600 Graphics

  I was using Premiere Pro 2015.3 (currently, the latest version) and Media Composer 8.5 trial version (if it would make a difference)

  Second, the images I used comes from a short film that I shot last year. It's from a Blackmagic film camera, and media are encoded in Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files.

  Here's what's happening. When I import the media files in both programs, I notice immediately that the film looks more like dark at first he made in Media Composer. However, when I checked the waveform monitor in both (using waveform YC) two signals looked about the same. Here are a few of the problem screen grabs. (P.S. attached to photos are taken using Snipping Tool Windows)

  The problem persisted when I exported the images. I have exported the two as QuickTime files, encoded in Avid DNxHD 1080 p/25 185 10 bits, with 709 color levels. I played in QuickTime Player and the exported video from Premiere Pro seemed darker than exported to Media Composer despite them playing on the same monitor. Here is the screen grab to show the problem (again once they are taken using Windows capture tool)

  In fact, when I re-imported video that I exported created in the project to create, it seemed even darker. Here is a screenshot.

  

  Can someone explain why this is happening. Is this something in the export settings. If this is the case, why this does not happen with Media Composer. For me, there seems to be something that happens during the import of the first sequence. It seems the only explanation why the exported images of first seems even darker when I re - import.

  If it's something that happens at the point of importation, what she is, and how can I solve this problem? If not, then what is the problem?

  Use AE utility - color profile converter

  set the HDTV (Rec 709) input range and HDTV output (Rec 709 16-235)

  That will set the new video range(16-235) values and lighten the image of good level again.

  Your recovery discs should install windows 8 on a new hard drive with no problems - windows 8 activation key is stored in your notebooks bios chip and will be read automatically by the installation disc.

  To boot from your recovery disks, you will need to disable "Secure Boot" - see the HP document on the link below in this regard.

• Cannot create a new recovery media X220t

  Right out of the box, I try to create the floppies of recovery for my new X220T using Lenovo Rescue and Recovery. I get an error message - files require to create rescue media e was not found. Then 'an internal error has caused this process to fail. No disk rescue with the system so I have now a new Thinkpad I dare not use because it cannot be restored. Not impressed.

  I used my x220t for a month before I took the trouble to make recovery disks.  Really useless recovery disk anyway... as long as you have a key valid for windows (you can find that when you remove the battery), you can get your system up and running... it's a good idea to do a restore disc.  Mine took 3 4.7 GB DVD.

  I have an older imovie project that uses audio that has been in the itunes music folder.  I have since it consolidated in itunes media.  So, the song is more in the music folder.   I don't know exactly what you did here, but it would seem to me you can option-do drag the song edited since the multimedia file back in the music folder (copy, no travel).
