New development of Blackberry

Hi all

He is working as a developer android abdellah. Return of 2 days that I started working on blackberry. I installed eclipse with blackberry, that is, "BlackBerry_JDE_PluginFull_1.5.2_indigo.exe". I created the Hello World sample then the emulator is open and with the version of

BlackBerry 9900
7.1 bundle 1091(v 7.1.0.318)

Now, I would like to install app even in lower versions. Is it possible to install the lower version. Please guide me how to do? and my mail id is s (dot) seshu143 (at) gmail (dot) com.

Thank you and best regards,

S.Seshu.

Hi Liza,

Welcome on the support forums,

If you want to install your application in earlier versions, you must build the application using lower JRE versions.

You can find deifferent versions JRE under project-> java build path properties.

This is the URL for all.

Thank you.

    Hi everyone, im new here.

    (My English is not very good, but in any case I'll do my best to be understable).

    First of all, I'm going to introduce myself:

    My name is Díaz de Miguel (South America, Chile) and now I'm working with a team on what we called 'Santa Maria Mobile Challenge' here in my University (UTFSM, Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria) and we have an app for phones mobile Blackberry... IM in charge of the User Interface of the application... so, here's my question:

    I conceive an idea of how it looks at the application (we are new to programming in java and J2ME for Blackberry), I designed in Photoshop, and with a few readings, I realize how can I do this on J2ME BB.

    In my research on J2ME and Clases de BB I think I can do this with HorizontalFieldManagers and VerticalFieldManagers... tie them a background image for each FieldManager (of course I have to divide my original and more image "images") and connect (or trigger) behaviour when he focused...

    The idea of this is to make each component of our application classes:

    IE: Where it says "task 1", which blocks will be a HorizontalFieldManager with 3 VerticalFieldManagers, one with the «!» Icon, the Second bearing the name of the task, in this example is "task 1", and the third will be the other information... and perhaps on the third HorizontalFieldManagers 2 more...)

    Well well... the idea of this post is to know if im on the right way to apply for ugly or there is a better way... I accept all the comments... I want to win this contest.

    Thank you!!

  • New developer help required with error messages

    Hello

    I'm new here and just start with the development of Blackberry.  I have some experience in programming, primarily in VB but also some HTML/CSS and am familiar with most of the concepts of programming.

    I installed the BB JDE 4.7.0, and am running.

    I started following this YouTube HelloWorld example to get myself started

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=e6NhObYV1js

    Everything was going well until I have compiled the application, then I got an error message.  (My problem is the 1) I don't know what means the error message and 2) I don't know how to find out what means the error message.  I suspect, it can be linked to my installation of the software, but I'm not sure.

    I would be grateful if someone could put me on the right track with these two problems (IE help me solve this problem and also to direct me to how to help myself next time).

    Here is my Code

    /*
     * HelloWorld_main.java
     */

    package cs456_s09;

    import net.rim.device.api.ui.UiApplication;
    import net.rim.device.api.ui.component.LabelField;
    import net.rim.device.api.ui.container.MainScreen;

    /**
     *
     */
    class HelloWorld_main extends UiApplication
    {
        HelloWorld_main()
        {
            MainScreen pScreen = new MainScreen(); /*create new main screen */
            pScreen.setTitle("Hello World Title Bar Title");
            pScreen.add(new LabelField("Hello World"));
            pushScreen(pScreen); /* push the screen onto the main stack */
        }

        public static void main(string args())
        {
            HelloWorld_main pApp = new HelloWorld_main(); /* creates new instance of app */
            pApp.enterEventDispatcher();
        }
    }

    Here is the error I get trying to complete the construction.

  • Develop with Blackberry 4.2.1 SDK in Eclipse

    Hello

    I need to develop an application for Blackberry Java SDK 4.2.1 and above.

    I'm currently under Eclipse 3.5 classic, and I have installed the plugin BlackBerry Java for Eclipse v1.1, with all the Blackberry Java SDK available, version 4.5 to 5.0.

    Unfortunately, it is not no matter what SDK available less than 4.5 in this plug-in.

    Anyone know how I can develop for Blackberry Java SDK 4.2.1 in Eclipse 3.5?

    Thank you!

    Unfortunately, there is no way to build an app for 4.2.1 in the latest version of Eclipse. I think I read somewhere on the forum where someone tried (and perhaps successful) in getting installed by using an older version of the component package.

    Not sure how much it is important for you.

    If all goes well, they will update it soon because she has been the application of many since new version of the plug-in.

  • BlackBerry 10 has some suggestion of a new user of BlackBerry 10.

    Hello everyone. Im a new user of BlackBerry and BB Z10 is always my first BlackBerry device. I moved from for BB 10 Android. BlackBerry 10 is a good OS, but some fundamental things do not work properly even after 1 year of release. I will mention a few here.

    1. I can type the first letter of my message/note in small letters etc. No matter what I do first the letter (after full stop or the first letter itself does not matter) is typed in full alphabetical letter. It's a great pain and it is not yet resolved.
    2. When you are deleting a text written as you typed a message but you want to remove the first 3 or 4 words and you hold the BACKSPACE of your BB 10 keyboad, it removes the words of 3 or 4, but if you do not release the button then it starts also delete other words as well. Well show a demo video if you do not understand what im.
    3. He's led light, but I don't see much use of it. its only used for notifications and is used a light red and there is no built-in led model editor. BlackBerry should at least add a charge indicator and battery as its very useful and must have one of the led notification lights.
    4. File transfer via BB connection is too slow. Only 300 to 600 kb/s which is too slow. Improve this. I don't know if its BB link problem or question BB 10.
    5. No built-in backup Come on BlackBerry app Asha same, 200 have an integrated in the backup manager.

    That's it for now. I will update post when I find something else. BlackBerry 10 is really a good OS. Its smooth and fluid sweeping gestures, are great. IM in love with my Z10.

    1. you "can't"?  This isn't a bug. Just go back and type the letter again and it may require a third try, but it will work. That will not change, it is not a bug, it's intentional.

    2. I understand, you hold the back key too long. Touch to set your cursor at the end of words to be deleted. Drag a finger on the keyboard from right to left to remove a Word. Use two fingers slide right to the left to remove TWO words.

    3. where several LED control and notification third BeBuzz apps, Hub ++ and others. Check your App World.

    4. the transfer via the USB cable? Doing so on the WiFi is faster in my experience. If you need assistance with this, please ask.

    5 link built in backup. In the past, Protect would live backup, but not on BlackBerry10 OS devices. I use FireChest Backup, for good and varied backup options.

    The z10 is a great device, glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

  • I want to start developing for blackberry 10.

    Hello

    I want to start developing for Blackberry 10. Please suggest where I get the tutorial for study.

    Here are the forums, you would use:

    Native development:

    Cascades (I recommend this):

  • Best way to start developing for Blackberry 10?

    Hello

    I'm a mobile developer works on iOS, Android, and Blackberry platforms.

    Our society has decided to finally support the Blackberry 10 platform. I've been so busy to develop our latest ideas on iOS I really had time to look into the development of BB10, so far.

    I did some research on the forums and came across this post:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/T5/Java-development/I-want-to-start-development-for-BlackBerry-1...

    Which mentions 2 ways that you can develop for BB10, Aboriginal and waterfalls.

    Now, when it comes to development of BB, I come from the crowd of java. I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of native development and Cascades, what IDEs or SDK is required, what knowledge is necessary to begin (ex: C++) etc...

    If this question has already been answered, you have my apologies, please provide a link.

    Thank you!

    "Native" is just C/C++ without using Qt and infrastructure of Cascades user interface on top of it. Unless you plan build your user interface ENTIRELY in OpenGL, you probably want to waterfalls. And even in this case, you can draw OpenGL cascading with the ForeignWindowControl content.

    Anyway, if you come from the point of view of iOS, you might find this useful: https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/documentation/getting_started/porting/index.html

    Since you are familiar with our Java on BB7 platform, you can also check the Java BlackBerry series BlackBerry 10 Cascades of blog on our developer blog posts. The first is here: http://devblog.blackberry.com/2013/01/port-java-to-cascades-part-1/and part 13 just came out today.

  • Please help new developer!

    Hello

    I've been recently download and download countless versions of eclipse, the blackberry plugin, etc. A version connects to another specific version, blah blah... Can someone tell me precisely which version of the software, plugin, etc that I have to download to start? I would really appreciate it, if the links provided even better.

    Thank you!

    Well, you're not in the right place, but I can certainly help you.

    Eclipse: Version 3.4.1 is the latest version which is compatible with the public plugin version.

    http://mirror.ousli.org/Eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.4.1-200809111700/index.php

    Plugin: Version 1.0.0.67 the latest stable version (as I know).

    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/developers/

    The link is at bottom left of the page, the title of "top downloads". If you have an account, please login first. Allows you to save a little typing.

    Simulators: The plugin comes with a few simulators, but you want to get a little more. I would say the 95xx, 83xx and 88xx 9000. They load fairly quickly and give you a wide range of OS versions.

  • How to start the development of Blackberry software...

    Hi all

    I am newbie to development of Blackberry and looking for advice from you... How to get started with Blackberry programming?

    I downloaded the plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 BlackBerry ... Is this suitable for developing application like SMS send and receive SMS... ??

    Please suggest me the appropriate SDK...

    Thanking you in advance

    Concerning

    Amol

    You have downloaded MDS Studio, who as far as I know, does NOT have the ability to send and receive SMS Messages.

    I suggest that you look at the following thread:

    http://supportforums.BlackBerry.com/Rim/Board/message?board.ID=java_dev&thread.ID=13264

    If you are already familiar with Eclipse or NetBeans, you might find these environments more useful.  If this isn't the case, at the risk of be flamed, I would say you download and install the JDE.

    Good luck

  • BlackBerry Smartphones New pc, even blackberry. How to keep my music?

    Title says it all, I just formatted my pc, so downloaded a new BB Desktop Manager. Ive had too often on my old Ipod; Synchronize and lose all your music. So I'm little afraid to hit the button synchronize.

    See you soon!

    Install BlackBerry Desktop Software on the new PC, connect phone (which contains your music) new PC, open BlackBerry Desktop Software and tap on synchronize at the bottom of the desktop software, enjoy your music, which is now synchronized with the new desktop software.

    Unless I'm missing something, this should do.

  • New developer - question field object

    Hello.

    I'm new to Java for Blackberry developer world and I'm playing with the RichTextField object. I have the following code which fails and I would like feedback as to what I'm doing wrong:

    import net.rim.device.api.ui.decor.Border;

    [...]

    RichTextField f = new RichTextField("This is a test !");
    f.setBorder(STYLE_TRANSPARENT);
    add(f);

    It gives me an error saying: can't find symbol putting highlight the STYLE_TRANSPARENT.

    What is the problem? What I'm missing here?

    Well, this time, that the error is not the same thing, is it?  There is no setBorder (int) in the field.  You must provide a border.  Like this:

    f.setBorder(Border.STYLE_TRANSPARENT, BorderFactory.createSimpleBorder(new XYEdges(1, 1, 1, 1)));

    Oh and welcome to the forums!

  • The new Q5 (FEB) blackBerry update problem

    I recently updated my Q5 with the new OS update on 19/02/15 and after that update ive had a problem with when I lock my screen or when my phone locks, my touch screen doesn't work (after I unlock it).

    Anyone else having the same problems?  Impossible to find solutions on the internet and have tried everything for example reinstall update, back up and restore my phone, turn.

    Had phone about a year and a half until its probably out of warranty so would welcome any advice!

    I suggest you try the method of automatic loader, very clean and very energetic:

    Beware that it is completely destructive... the device will be 'as new'... None given, no apps, no accounts, etc. Remember you first take a full backup, as well as make full manual documentation of applications, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduced corruption even sought to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is required.

    You can also use it to return to a BONE earlier if you want... you can install any level of the operating system for which you can find an auto-loader. (Hint... search the site of CB!)

    Good luck and let us know!

  • Z10 NEW Z10 BATTERY BLACKBERRY BlackBerry WAS NOT COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE

    HIII friends

    I bought the new Blackberry Z10 a month earlier, but its battery is charged not 100%, she loaded only 94% maxmimum and drains also faster, have already switch off device several times, remove the battery and start the machine again, but even if I have the problem from the front, the battery is charged at only 94%.

    Please let me know what to do.

    Before you take out the battery, do NOT turn off the unit.

    Try this: leave it plugged into the charger wall stock OEM.

    With it connected and switched on, disconnect the minute battery and replace.

    Check the percentage of drain on the next day and go through the SAME procedure.

    Don't forget, the percentage charge is not an exact science, but rather an estimate by the software of the charge, based on the current, historical drain power and recharge, etc.
