Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

reset the SMC, PRAM and NVRAM on your MBP

    http://www.Macworld.com/article/2881177/how-to-reset-your-Macs-NVRAM-pram-and-SM c.html

How to reset memory NVRAM (or LANDAU)

If your Mac does not start properly or one of the functions listed in the previous section is strange, you can perform a simple reset of your Mace NVRAM or PRAM. Your Mace NVRAM or PRAM reset Resets the data stored on its default setting. (Note: as always, we strongly recommend having a full backup of your important data before troubleshooting your Mac.)

The process to reset the PRAM and NVRAM is exactly the same thing. Just follow these steps:

    (1) turn off your Mac.

    (2) (2) tourner turn on your Mac, and when you hear the ringtone to start, immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. (Note: you can use a wired keyboard to reset).

    (3) holding the keys until the Mac restarts and you hear the startup chime for the second time, and then release the keys.

After resetting the NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure some of your settings of Mace. If you're still having problems with your Mac, you may want to consider resetting the SMC.

    What is SMC?

On Macs with Intel processors, SMC is system management controller. The SMC chip controls your function of sleep Mace, various lights and indicators, speed of the fan and keyboard backlight power among other things. So if your fan Mace is out of whack, lights are misconduct, he answer correctly when the lid is closed, or the Mac not turn on at all, you might want to reset the SMC. (Note: again, be sure to have a full backup of your important data before resetting the SMC)

How to reset the SMC in a MacBook with a non-removable battery

    (1) stop the Mac.

    (2) connect your power adapter to your Mac and a power source.

    (3) with the Mac turned off, press shift-control-Option and press the power button at the same time.

    (4) release all the keys and turn on your Mac.

  • iBook Clamshell detects no no new internal hard drive

I have an iBook Clamshell (M2453 PC, 300 MHz) and I just replaced the old 6 GB hard drive with a new hard drive 60 GB. The new drive is a regular 2.5 "IDE/PATA drive. I don't know the brand or the rpm of the road, because the seller provides various brands/rpm and I didn't check before installing. I'm guessing this is a Hitachi, Seagate, Fujitsu, etc. either 5400 or 7200 RPM. I don't think that is important, because the drive came in a clean condition and has been formatted. The problem is that when I try to install OS X 10.3 on the new drive hard, it is not detected at all. It does not appear on the screen "Select Destination", the startup disk, or disk utility. Disk utility shows only the OS X install CD, nothing else. I confirm that this isn't for lack of the CD, as I used it many times in the past to install OS 10.3 on other Macs. I tried to reset the NVRAM, PRAM, I even tried the PMU button under the screen, but nothing has worked. However, the old hard drive with OS 9.2 worked perfectly, and I've made sure to connect everything correctly when I replaced the drive, does this mean a new is simply defective, or there at - it another option to try to fix? I don't disassemble the laptop again, but if I have no choice I will do what I must. Thanks in advance.

If disk utility is not able to detect the hard drive, it could indicate a problem with the drive, the hard drive cable or control circuits in the computer. Disk utility should see at least the reader as such, even if a volume is not displayed.

As a first step, if you have access to a proper record of the Mac OS (9.x), you can test the configuration of disk utility instead (just to see if the hard drive can be detected at all). Also, disk utility on a PowerPC (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ) to a proper Ubuntu CD version could possibly used for similar drive information research and test operations on your computer.

  • I have a G4 laptop.  I put a new hard drive in it?

I have a G4 laptop in very good condition, but there is very little space on the hard disk.  Can I put a new one in it?

Yes, although the effort can be called "Difficult" due to other elements

in the path before the actual task is completed. Not only the wires or cables.

the screws are different lengths and must therefore be ordered so that you can

  • Implementation of new iMac in late 2006 iMac and external hard drive

I have a late 2006 iMac 2.16 GHz intel core 2 duo with 2.5 GB which I Lion 10.7.5.  I don't think I can improve operating systems, or more if they are not compatible.  I have an external hard drive that stores my photos, music etc I just ran out of space on iMac.  I decided to upgrade to the new iMac.  I thought that I would be able to plug in my external hard drive which has also my Time Machine backup and all the news would move to the new iMac.  However, the external hard drive is Firewire 800.  I connect it to the old iMac with adapter on the Firewire 400 port.  The new iMac has USB3.

    1. How can I connect external drive to the new iMac?  You can get a Firewire 800 cable USB3 (online research I don't think)

2 read online it seems to say that you need to update your software on your old iMac to match the new iMac otherwise the time Machine can not read information correctly.  It is not possible on the old iMac, what should I do?

I'm looking at my beautiful new iMac and the have not yet enabled.

The cable would probably be Thunderbolt to FireWire, check the available adapters

to see what should be the part. You would not upgraded an outdated old

Mac for a last OS X when he cannot go. Use the Migration Wizard or

migrate after installation. Some of these older applications or documents created

can be updated easily; Some may require conversion. Depending on your files.

The manual method is sometimes preferred. A new computer may balk

a lot of stuff which is reduced to an antique.

You could install Thunderbird where you want, but it will place a file in your AppData folder.

I suggest you only install Thunderbird. It will install by default in your default programs folder. Now learn more about Thunderbird profile and when you feel comfortable with it, copy your profile on your SSD and configure profiles.ini find in its new place.

You can edit profiles.ini to hand, or you can use the Thunderbird Profile Manager to make the changes.

  • A1103 new Ram and HARD drive will not start

    Hello.

I have a Mac mini A1103. When I got there the folder flashing with question mark. I got a macbook earlier where this problem was solved by installing a new hard drive. so I ordered a new 160 GB IDE 2.5 "5400 RPM and 1 GB Corsair Valueselect DDR1 333 MHz hoping that this will help me get the mini running and preforming a little better with 512 MB of Ram.

When I boot the mini after swapping ram and hard drive I always see the same flashing folder. I can reset the NVRAM Boot, enter diskmode target? (I think) and the Boot Manager.

When I enter the Boot Manager I can see the following screen

a few times I get to this screen for Open Firmware screen where I can use certain commands such as vram-reset reset-all rebot and so, but sometimes I'm just stuck on this screen.

Anyone have any suggestions on what is wrong and what I can try next? I do not have the boot original dvd but I have a usb bootable with IOS 10.6 and a dvd with IOS 10.6 (not original) but I can't get botting from any of the devices.

A Mac Mini A1103 has a G4 Power PC processor and cannot be greater than 10.5.8. Superior OSX versions require an Intel processor.

In this statement "a usb bootable with IOS 10.6 and a dvd with IOS 10.6 (not original)" I think you mean OSX, not of iOS. You must obtain a copy of the original installation disc which was 10.3 or 10.4 or disk to upgrade to 10.4 or 10.5 full retail. Coverall A1103 all three 2005 models of the Mac Mini G4.

You cannot use a grey disc unless it was delivered with your specific Mac.  Native gray disc with Macs and can not e used on the other model of disc.

You can probably call Apple and order a copy of the original disks

  • My old flaky hard drive. How can I transfer my inbox on my new drive?

My old drive is flaky and I installed a new on my computer. How can I recover my old Inbox emails? I can set up the old drive with an adapter and connect to it.

    Thank you

    Mart

The first answer above shows you how to move the entire name of original profile to a new profile name. This includes mail, settings, preferences etc.

However, it is also possible to simply move the emails.
If you have already created a new profile with the account mail etc and you want to import emails to the original on the old hard drive, you can try this addon tool:

    How to install the addon:

    • Download the file to your desktop as

    In Thunderbird

    • Tools > icon menu or Addons > Addons
    • Click the gear icon and select "install addon file".
    • Locate the downloaded file and click 'open '.
    • You may have to restart Thunderbird.

How to use the import tool:
Right-click on the folder you want to import, and then select "ImportExporttools".
There are a few options to import.
