New PC - old Vista CD?
I have a set of disks of Vista that I bought and installed with my current PC. I'm now building a new PC to replace the current - can I use the same discs again?
Hey Bob
If disks of vista you purchased have a retail vista license Yes you can use them again to install vista on a new computer
but that comes with the condition that you deleted from your old computer vista
You can have only a single licensed installation
and if it is an oem license, it cannot be that regularisation between computers

Vista to XP question
Can I use the product windows XP from my old CPU key to downgrade my new processor from Vista to XP?
N ° decommissioning requires installation of XP from an XP installation cd and a retail product key. If XP is preinstalled on the old computer, the product key on the label is valid for the copy of XP OEM is installed on your old computer, even if it is still on the old computer. An OEM license is not transferable to any other computer.
Before you plan to install XP on your new computer you must visit the manufacturer's Web site to see if the XP drivers are also available.

I got a new computer (an old dies) new a windows vista and I have to disable the old computer before I load the same copy of Vista on my new computer. If yes how can I do this?
If Vista is preinstalled on your OLD computer, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.
The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptopIf a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.A single license is a single Installation.
If it is a retail Vista license, read the information on the clean install and then reactivate it:

Restore backup files after the new installation of Vista
I recently had to replace my main hard drive as it has completely crashed and burned. Fortunately, I thought, I had been diligently backing up to an external hard drive. So after replaced by a fresh hard drive and a new installation of Vista, I thought I could just restore these files from backup... but no luck. New Vista does not recognize the old Vista backup. And it will allow me to migrate these files in any usable fashion. Is it possible for me to get the new Vista installation to access these backups from the previous installation of Vista?
Hi Allisonerik,
(1) what happens when you try to restore?
(2) you get an error message?
(3) was it a file, or a backup system image?
I want to clarify if your backup media (external hard drive) is recognizing in Windows.
Method 1: Put the computer to boot and then check to see if you can restore
Follow step 1 in the link below,
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7Important: n ' forget not to put the computer to a normal startup follow step 7 in the link.
Method 2: Check your external hard drive to find errors
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

I tried to add a new user of Vista. The name and icon are created in the login screen, but when I tried to access the new user account, I received the message "user profile service logon failedthe. User profile cannot be loaded.
I read the responses on the copy files to the user overall, but when I looked in the c drive, the new username has not been added. What should I do now?Hello
The problem is probably damaged the ADMIN account, you were when you created the user account.
Log on as an ADMINISTRATOR or use the HAA below and REMOVE the user account that you created. Then move forward
as if your ADMIN account (the one you used to make this account user) has been corrupted. Once you are sure
It is OK then DISABLE the HAA - login to your ADMIN account and make a different for USER account
see if everything is OK.Try these to erase corruption and missing/damaged file system repair or replacement.
1. run DiskCleanup - start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup
2. start - type in the search - box COMMAND find top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

Then do-, use the hidden administrator account to lower your user account (to the lowest level) APPLY/OK
then go back and reset it to the Admin APPLY/OK - this clearly allows corruption. Do this several times. Do the
same for other accounts that may be difficult. Then if necessary you can also reset your password
in the accounts. Do not forget to leave your Admin account and the other to the desired level.Make another Admin account with your password and use it to fix the others if necessary. (just for

Not to recognize the new or old password and cannot connect to the e-mail
I replaced the old password used to connect to e-mail to [email protected] last night (Monday, 3 August 14). I went to connect to email this morning and it wouldn't recognize new or old password. It kept giving me an error message that pop.server has not identified any username and/or password and access is denied. Use your tools section reset password and it is not always grateful. (And for some strange reason, I deleted Portal Manager password which showed passwords for this system. Any help to get into the system and correct my incompetence will be greatly appreciated. * Original title: get the product key
I try to upgrade my old vista laptop to win7, but don't remember the product key for my computer compaq laptop. How can I get this key?
Hello
Your question is not very clear to understand.
If Vista is preinstalled on your laptop, this product key is NOT for Windows 7.
There is a free upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 years, but that offer expired for a long time.
How does the Windows 7 upgrade Option?
The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your Windows 7 update will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Option of upgrade Windows 7 program runs from June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Some manufacturers may choose to shorten the time of upgrade Option.
Microsoft sells more than Windows 7, but it does NOT come for free.
Try Amazon.com, etc.

And if you ask to transfer the license of Windows 7 from a mobile to another laptop:
You tell us what type of license you have.
If the laptop came with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key supplied with the laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.
OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.
The above applies also to OEM system builders licenses.
License of operating system in detail, that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.
And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

I want new policies, but Vista will not support the
I recently bought a new computer with Vista home premium installed on it. When getting it set up, I wanted to download fonts from fontface.com (a site that I use regularly). However, I was not able to install fonts because apparently I'm missing "msvbvm50.dll"... it was in XP but not Vista? Does anyone know how to get this or something like that so that I can install all my favorite fonts? Thank you!

I have a copy of windows vista that I installed on my laptop, I am looking to buy a new PC soon, what I have to buy a new copy of vista, or can I use my code on my new PC? I do not plan to use my laptop again once I get this PC is it possible to transfer the license via?No problem.
First of all, backup all your data of the laptop if you have not already.
When you have done this, the best way to do this is to delete the partition with Vista on it. See the website below for more information:
http://vistasupport.MVPs.org/delete_a_partition_using_the_vista_dvd.htm
Once you have finished deleting your partition, the laptop will have nothing about it, so you can choose to reinstall an earlier version of Windows or simply put away to deal with later. You can now legally install the copy of Windows Vista on your new machine.

After you have lost your product key shrinks your methods
key finder programs won't asssit you if it is preinstalled
Here are the different ways let you reinstall vista;
Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it
they do it for a nominal cost of $
also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought
you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer
Ask them of the exact key sequence
