Hi, Monica.

How to request a new product key

If you don't have the product key to your Windows operating system but still have the original disc, you can request a replacement of Microsoft product key for $10USD.

You need to have a valid product key to install Windows. Your only alternative is to buy a new copy of Windows it will hurt at least try to get an inexpensive replacement of Microsoft.

Follow the instructions below to request a new product key for Windows 7, Vista or XP Windows:

Difficulty: Easy
Time: Request a replacement of Microsoft product key will probably take you about 20 minutes.

Here's how:

  1. Determine whether your copy of Windows is a copy retail or preinstalled copy:

Retail: Your copy of Windows is a copy retail if you or someone else has bought Windows as a stand-alone software and then installed on your computer. Your copy of Windows can also be a copy retail if it came on your new computer and that your computer was delivered to a small manufacturer. Proceed to step #3.

Pre-installed: Your copy of Windows is a pre-installed copy if it was already installed when you purchased your new computer. This is probably the case if you have a big brand PC and you have never installed yourself a new copy of Windows. Refer to the step #2.

Other: If you have purchased or received a copy of Windows to your organization, company or other group, see step 2 but contact the issuing group instead.

  2. Contact your original computer manufacturer directly to request a new product key if Windows was preinstalled on your computer.

If the manufacturer of your computer is not able to help you delivering a replacement for Windows product key, go to step 3. Microsoft may still be able to help.

  3. Contact Microsoft at (800) 936-5700.

Note: It is the telephone number of Microsoft Support paid . Microsoft site advises that calls to technical support at this number will incur a charge of $40 to $60USD. You does not charge this amount to a call regarding a new product key.

  4. Follow the prompts to auto attendant correctly then you can speak to a customer service representative your missing product key.

I could join a man after only three issues - not too bad, in my opinion.

  5. The Microsoft representative will take your contact information - name, phone number and address - email and then to ask for details about your problem.

Tell the representative that you have your original CD/DVD Windows installation but need a replacement product key.

  6. Answer all questions asked of you. The representative of Microsoft can seek clarification on your installation disc of Windows, as the numbers around the inner circle of the CD/DVD and know what words or images that may or may not be on the disk.

Microsoft asks these questions in order to verify that you have the installation disc is not hacked.

  7. Microsoft will take your credit card information after verifying that your installation media is genuine.

This new Windows product key should cost you $10USD. Some readers even sent telling me that Microsoft doesn't have them pay nothing at all so they either change their policy or some people are just lucky!

  • Microsoft representative then you will read your new product key and ask that you enter in the activation window to be sure, it creates a new installation code.

  • He or she will then transfer you to the Center to activate by phone to complete the process activation of Windows.

Note: If for some reason you are not able to get a replacement of Microsoft product key or the manufacturer of your computer and your copy of Windows is not installed (exclude you the product keys finder method), then your last course of action is to buy a new copy of Windows - Tim Fisher

The software comes with the key when you buy. You have not a
      choice.

      > I have windows 7 Home premium, but it can only be used on a single computer.

Right, the rule is quite clear. It is a copy (or a license) for
      each computer.

There is nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that has been in
effect on all versions of Windows from at least with Windows 3.1.

Then, unless you can find a lower price somewhere or you wish to fly,
      you're out of luck.

      Hello

You will need to purchase a license/disk/upgrade Windows 7 product key.

Microsoft sells more Windows 7 and you would have to buy from Amazon, etc.

There was a free upgrade offer, but it expired a long time ago:

"The Windows 7 upgrade Option is available through participating PC manufacturers on some PC and Microsoft on any purchase of packaged product Windows Vista. The Windows 7 upgrade Option applies to Windows Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate editions. Your upgrade to Windows 7 will be the comparable version: so you will get either Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional (upgrade to Windows Vista Business) or Windows 7 Ultimate, respectively. The Windows 7 upgrade Option program works on June 26, 2009 through January 31, 2010. Some manufacturers may choose to shorten the time of upgrade Option. »

    • Purchase new product key for Windows 7

I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 on a computer by using the copy of the standard ISO I downloaded from Microsoft. Unfortunately, seems to have misplaced my product key and you will need to buy a new one. I bought a laptop Sony Viao on 19 October 2012.  This laptop came pre-installed with Windows 7 Professional.  I used the ease of upgrade to upgrade Windows at the ultimate addition.

Since October 19 Microsoft doesn't have to issue a new serial number of the product.  My account status indicates that the order is underway.  It does not help to make a call of support for the call numbers eventually gets cut off, because it seems that the Microsoft call center staff is completely clueless about how to solve my problem.
They have the audacity to tell me to buy a new update.  When I try to activate I just invited to enter a new product key that the existing key is not valid.
I'm at the point where I'll try to find a pirated product key, because I WILL NOT BUY a new product key and pay for something that I'm supposed to have.  I put challenge Microsoft to report me to tell them I'll be using a pirated key until they solve this problem.

I have the 32 bit windows 8 on my PC and bought a £50 product key. But I didn't know that my processor could take 64 bit OS.

      64 bit 32 vs

      http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions

64-bit Windows 8 comes in handy when you need to deal with at least 4 GB of RAM or more. 8 32-bit Windows can use up to 3.2 GB of RAM. Because the address space of memory is much larger for 64-bit Windows, this means that you need two times more memory than the 32-bit Windows to accomplish some of the same task, but you are able to do much more, you can have more apps open, do things like run a virus scan in the background it will affect the performance of your system. 64-bit Windows 8 is safer too, malicious code cannot easily infiltrate it, drivers are more reliable because they must be signed before it can work with 64-bit Windows 8.

Regarding compatibility, you need device drivers 64-bit hardware devices, you may have. In addition, there is no 16-bit subsystem in Windows 8 64-bit, which means, your applications must be 32-bit only, not 16-bit Installer or programs uninstaller.

If you need to upgrade to the 64-bit version, you will have to redo your installed 32-bit custom. You said that you ordered the backup DVD with your order, so you have 64-bit disk.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit. Launch the Windows Easy Transfer utility in Windows 7 and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean installation of 64-bit Windows 8 disc so you can stored there.

      http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Once you have done this, just do a clean installation of 64-bit Windows 8 disc. In 64-bit Windows 8 disk, launch Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

      Install the 64-bit version:

Boot from the DVD 64-bit of Windows 8
      Click Install now
      Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 8 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
