Whenever I type the search box, it comes down to the home screen

whenever I go to safari and tap the search box that my iPad just goes back to the standby screen. Someone know why?

Try disabling the Suggestions of Safari. Go to settings > Safari > Safari Suggestions off.

    It is possible that you have a problem with some Add on Firefox which is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

    Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you must make sure that it is not caused by one (or more) of your installed modules, whether an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do this easily and cleanly, start Firefox in safe mode (remember to select disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem goes away, you know that it's an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode and allow them one by one until you find the source of the problem.     I understand that Safari quits unexpectedly when using the search function.  I recommend you clear your history and cookies from Safari.  Once done this test again using the search feature of Safari.

    Clear information on your device

    To clear your history and cookies from Safari iOS 8 or later, tap Settings > Safari > clear the history and data from the Web site. In iOS 7 or an earlier version, tap clear history, clear Cookies and data.

    To erase other information stored in Safari, tap Settings > Safari > advanced > data Web site > remove all data from the Web site.

    Clear your history, cookies and browsing Safari data do not change your AutoFill information.

    If Safari doesn't load the pages of several sites

    In OS X Yosemite, you can delete data from the Web site for the last hour, or these days if sites or pages recently stopped loading.

    1. Click history > clear history and data from the Web site.
    2. In the sheet that appears, select the range of data that you want to remove from the Clear pop-up menu.
    3. Click on clear history.

    If you want to remove the data from the Web site for all the sites and pages you have never visited, choose 'all history' in the light of the context menu. The option to delete all the data of the website in the privacy of the Safari preferences pane does this, too. These options also reset your browsing history and Best Sites.

    As I said whenever I open firefox I get 3 additional tabs to the home page. After that, whenever I hit the home button I get 3 more. Very fast, I got 1 million tabs and capabilities. I went to internet explore and connected and I have no problem. The only thing I can get from that is that I have a problem with firefox. I have been using firefox for a couple of years too.

    Gotcha. Go to your desired homepage and close all the tabs you want to NOT open when you click the home button. Then, you have several ways to update the home page setting as described in the article.

    I have a Bold 9700 5.0.0.54 5 running with bell mobility. When I upgraded to this version I am able to type in a contact name from the home screen to dial them. I must now go into the address book and then type their name. I can only enter the numbers directly from the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem?

    I just tried fiddling with the options of entering text (extinct since shortened ID and language selection) and it started working again. I returned these back to the values previously and it still works. I feel there is something funky with the selection of text entry and the home screen...

    Maybe it's the built-in Firefox homepage? On this page, the address bar does not show an address, just the phrase search for or type the address. Although the page displays a related Google search box, it is not a page of Google.

    If you want a search engine to be your "home page" when you open Firefox, you should always keep your favorite search engine on an open tab, like www.google.com . You will need to do some work to keep it open, as ensuring that this search engine was the last tab that you had open before leaving Firefox. Now, go to Settings - customize - tabs - and make sure it is set to "always restore." Now, if you open tabs before you quit Firefox you do not close, the last of them opens and can technically be your "homepage". Now you can open your e-mail login page too, as long as it was under the tabs open in firefox. Hope this helps some!
