I understand that you have a problem with creating folder, I'll be happy to help you with that.

The ability to add the new folder is not present in the mail application, add a new folder, you will need to access this email via web browser Internet Explorer.

  • Importer e-mail and addresses from Windows Mail in windows.old to Outlook 2007 in the new Windows 7

Installed Windows 7 on a laptop last night.
Old system: Vista & Windows Mail
    New system: Windows 7 Ultimate (64) & Outlook 2007

Prior to installation, we have saved copies of records of e-mail and address books for the two users on a disk partition.  These same files are also still available in windows.old.

Import in Outlook 2007 feature, I cannot select a directory where the old files/email address. He just made a kind of research and can't find anything.
I wish that prospects to find them and convert a PST file but can't seem to make it work. I tied each combination in the functionality of Outlook 'import' and even tried to drag the old emails in the outlook Inbox (just create a new email with the .eml attachment file)

What should I install Windows mail, that he could recognize the old addresses / and then inport to Outlook?  Maybe then Outlook will look for them in their actual location?

You cannot import data from Windows Mail directly in Outlook. See...

       http://www.HOWTO-Outlook.com/HOWTO/migratefromoewlm.htm#FILES_ONLY

In your case, you must first download/install Windows LIVE Mail and then import data from Windows Mail in this e-mail client. After that, you can EXPORT data from Windows LIVE Mail to Outlook (compared to import the data into Outlook).

Yes, this is all very confusing. Adding to the confusion:

  • Subfolders from Windows mail to Windows Live mail are not imported

Loss of e-mail when you import e-mails from Windows Vista to Windows 7

I have a lot of email (more than 5000 files with 300 000 emails) in Windows Mail in Vista.

I recently bought the new laptop with Windows 7.

When I tried to import old email into the new machine with Windows Mail of liver, most of the emails in subfolders is lost.

Only those e-mails in the Inbox and the old sent box, etc., may be imported.

Please advise how can cope with this problem.

    Hi John Chan Sze Chun,.

Windows Mail records records of discussion groups and settings of your email account, in its own storage folder. By default, this folder is placed on drive C, your user name in the directory AppData\Local\Microsoft\ Windows Mail.

In vista and windows 7, the path is C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows mail storage folder.

Try a manual import in Windows Live Mail and check if that helps:

    a. open Windows Live Mail.

    b. in Windows Live Mail, click file on the menu bar, import and Messages.

If not, what third-party tool you're suggesting which can be used with Windows XP?

No response to most early would be really appreciated.

Yes, it's mainly for end-users to use, let us know what they see.

There is no directly (just as) tool I know.  However, you are not the first to ask the next question.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server configured in Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail

    Hello.
We just got a new laptop and I am trying to set up my e-mail account, as it was on my old.  For work purposes, I use the Microsoft Exchange Server because my work has us using OWA.  This way I can sync with my home outlook client and then synchronize with my portable devices.

The new has Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail.  As regular mail doesn't seem to have all the updated proxy in place, I tried on Live Mail.
I can't get set up on one or the other.

    Am I missing something?

So, I buy a laptop for $800, which includes the $150 for microsoft office home for students and teachers only to have to go and buy an Outlook for an additional amount of $100.

  • What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

    Separated from this thread.

I realize that starting from 7/11, Windows Live is more effective on my Windows Vista system.  I understand that and I have since beengetting my Hotmail acc't workingusing only Windows Live Mail.  This am, I tried to create a new account hotmail for my friend, but we couldn't get it to accept and just stopped trying.  Now, today, I can not send any e-mail because "you cannot configure Windows Mail to use a web (HTTP) that is running Windows Vista based."  WHA?  I managed somehow to get into Windows Live when I tried to get a new account hotmail for my friend?  Also, I also receive a message from the Assistant on "you want to want to leave, you have not created your new account?  (probably not the exact wording).  In response, I clicked Yes and no, and still I can't get out of this Windows Live.  I would like to purge my system of this needless to Windows Live and only use Windows Live Mail.  Can someone help me to do this?  (My knowledge of couputer is at a basic level, so hopefully it won't be too difficult to understand.)  Thank you!!!

(With the HTTP mess), it seems Windows Mail and Windows LIVE Mail are two very different things.

I am not a technician, but try to stay up-to-date. I have known that Vista sucks because it came out, but it surprised me, never have used before today. So I wonder...  Windows LIVE Mail can be installed on a Vista unit, and if so he would remove the format HTTP bug? It's all THE Microsoft, after all! On my PC with Windows 7 HP with complete Essentials, including Live Mail (for PC, to avoid confusion with the version online), I have not had any problems to Hotmail at work, send or receive. GMail also, no problem, the only thing I did NOT like about Live Mail is that it doesn't have the handy function "Sweep" that I love, I just go online to own things very quickly. With only Windows Mail (which I assume is supplied with Vista), it won't let me even try to set-up Hotmail/Outlook account. It's stupid, because like I said it's all EM!

    peace ~

Windows Mail is the e-mail that comes with client program and a part of Windows Vista. Windows Live Mail is a program available for free download; It is an e-mail client, the timing, the Manager contacts, aggregator and newsreader at a single feeding program.

Until a few years ago, it was possible to synchronize the Hotmail accounts with e-mail clients on Windows XP and Vista (Outlook Express and Windows Mail respectively) using WebDAV over HTTP protocol. This method has been deprecated after a long sequence of initialization in September 2009. Before that date, POP3 access has been made available for all Hotmail accounts. At any time it was not possible to access Hotmail email clients accounts. There is no bug involved here, nor in HTTP format or anything else.

Windows Live Mail is built to use a different former WebDAV protocol; DeltaSync protocol allows the synchronization of e-mail folders, contacts, and calendars between client and server.

You may be able to download the installer for Windows Live Mail 2011 of this page: How to install Windows Essentials while offline? Do not try to include Windows Live Writer or Messenger in the installation; None of them will work and you can gum up toward the top of the entire installation Essentials if you do. It may be better to stick to one mail at first. Windows Live Mail 2011 is the latest version which runs on Vista.

When trying to send/receive emails in Windows Mail, a window opens asking to verify the user name and password for the mail server. When I enter the correct information, he says that the username and password are incorrect. This is not true! This is a new issue. Have been able to send and receive emails on the first day without problem. What should I do?

    1. What is a POP3 account?
    2. Can you connect to the site of the Webmail Server using the same user name and PW?
If Yes to both, delete the account, restart and add it again. If still no joy, try to compact and repair the database.

  • How can I switch to another profile of e-mail in Windows Mail?

original title: How do I MOVE to a different MESSAGING PROFILE in WINDOWS MAIL?

I use Windows Mail in Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. I have two email accounts created and added in my Windows Mail program and I would like to ask for help as to how I can get to my default account not to check my emails and on how I can switch from one account to another. Your help is greatly appreciated for that matter.

    Thank you

Tools | Accounts |  (default) Email account | Properties | In general. Check the 'include this account... '. ».

Set the "switching." They are both in an identity so the only thing to change is when you create a new message, use the drop-down menu to the right of the From field to determine which account you are sending from.

If you receive messages from both accounts in the same Inbox, you can use message rules to hijack one of them for a user created folder.

First, create a local folder to be used as a second Inbox and name it anything you want.  Use it to one of the accounts, as well as the default Inbox for the other.

    Then create a message rule.

Where the message comes from the specified account.
Move it to the specified folder & stop processing more rules.
Click: specified account and enter the account name for the second Inbox.
Click: specified folder and select the folder that you created.
    Name the rule.

Move the rule to the top of the list of rules, and incoming messages will be separated into their respective folders.

And if you used OE and had several identities, this feature was not included in WinMail, but you may be interested by this.
