New video editing PC - how scratch disks and media

Built a new PC for video editing.  We followed the idea of this video: How to build a computer for editing - $ 1 400 edition - YouTube video

Any movie is in HD with HMC-150, 60 d, and 6 d.  Tip No. 4 k again.  I would like to take advantage of the Adobe Suite to create and our SSD/HD configurations.  We have stripped the hard drives via Windows.

I need to become very well where I put my files on this new PC and want suggestions based on this configuration on how to configure preferences for Prime Pro CC 2015 mainly.  Maybe other products have similar configurations?

the guys in the video are a good guy, but amd cpu is currently not optimal for adobe software. its good you went to intel and the i7 - 4790 k is a good processor.

has not changed orientation with the configuration of drive, here is a table with examples. Disk configuration

This table was written to disk, so using ssd can offer slightly alternative configurations. instead of placing cache db first on the previews/export drive, its ok to leave on the fast ssd with windows/apps/pagefile. the screenshot that show you the scratch disk/Visual sounds great.

I'm still trying to understand exactly what does PS with a working drive, but in any case it seems that my system works as it should. I'm always puzzled by why PS is not making much of a dent in my 32 GB of RAM but filling my empty temporary files disk?

That aside, it seems that I need a disc of more work for the size of the file that I work with.  Currently, I have a 128G SSD designated as my drive to work (Nothing on it), my OS and applications on a separate DSS, my working file on a separate SSD, LR catalog on another SSD and files and others on readers separate tray internal and external.

I work with a 32G file and keep getting bogged down. I read that the drive working should be anywhere from 10 to 100 times larger than the file you are editing - it is a wide choice. I guess that depending on the size of your working file your drive to work may have to be exponentially larger?

So, given a 32G working file (that will get done adding layers, not bigger), this drive working size would you recommend?

As I understand it, the scratch disk is the main memory of Photoshop, and it uses the RAM as a cache. Normally, Photoshop deletes temporary files when closing, but if, due to a power failure or a crash, some temporary files remain, they can be removed safely.

  • I customized my ff and edited a few scratches here and there, but after each reboot ff replaces! and my home/arrow/refresh page buttons are really becomeugly

    Hello

I use FF for years, but now it is starting to disappoint me! I adapted my FF and added some scratches here and there, and normally, everything else as I want/set but... until a few days... every time I restart FF it replaces some scratches left to right and vice versa! Very annoying!

Another problem is that my "home/arrow page (rear) / refresh" buttons have become so ugly and small and no I don't thick 'buttons' in the options.

I don't really know what is the problem, but now it is starting to be very boring!

Here's a printscreen BEFORE FF it's ruin: look how beautiful the buttons are and other things!

    [img] http://I3.lulzimg.com/1919c1d2a9.jpg line

And here are FF ugly with ugly buttons and in the good uppercorner strips left the adblockplus should be on the right, but it is replaced by its me after that I restarted FF each time!

I admit that when I saw that it replaces the scratches I UN-and/reinstalled FF and after that the buttons becomes too ugly....

    What could be the problem?

  • New video, editing for AE, questions of GPU system

    Hi all

I'm about to set up a new system to be used mainly for After Effects CS6 and first CS6. I have some difficulty to choose good GPU... If anyone of you could take the time to answer these question for me... It would be greatly appreciated!

-J' read the GTX 7xx with structure of Kepler are not taken in charge/CUDA cores are not used, this is true for do they work well?

-Is this a good video card (with 1000 + CUDA cores) help only for speeding 3D drawn with RADIUS, or the overall editing experience will be faster as well? ("seen live" when editing 'normal video', as well as the final minutes?)

-What are the critical factors to look for in a video card for editing? (GDDR RAM, Base clock, memory speed, Memory Interface width, hearts CUDA memory bandwidth) I mainly work with 1080 p digital SLR video and video effects, not a huge amount of 3d text, etc.

-If I would choose the GPU as renderer, the work will be done only by the GPU, of goes it's just 'assist' CPU?

-So far, I think the GTX 760 would be a good option, what is your opinion on this map for the edition of EI? It would be a good choice or a 6xx GTX or GTX 580 will be a much better option? My budget for the entire system (without monitor etc.) is maximum. 1000 euros.

-Would be to buy an SSD to store the program files and project files, be useful? Or that does not increase the speed in the edition of too?

The system that I have on my mind so far, recommendations and changes are welcome...

For first GPU acceleration is completely different than the acceleration of AE Ray Tracer. The specifications and the ram and CPU GPU core/clock system absolutely effect the performance of the first reading. That means selecting the correct GPU comes from an acceleration of MPE of first and the flow of work/support used. The concept that comes into play here is the processing latency. An old card with 1 GB of vram and a single or dual core CPU may be able to read a single stream of 1080 by itself without any scale. However, as soon as effects or alterations of the frame are added, then the time it takes for data to the cpu, the buffer in memory to live and then process through the GPU is long to keep reading. The speed of the clock of the CPU, Ram and GPU/Vram come into play as to how long it takes to this complete piping process. The amount of threads and cores to decide how much data can process at any point in time. The more layers and effects to deal with the more data that must be processed in a segment of the time required for reading, changes of images. This is similar to the amount of water through a pipe. This may be increased either by increasing the size of the pipe or pressure of the water in the hose of the water how fast is introduced into the hose. These two aspects have their limits depending on where the water is coming and going and what are the minimum requirements. It normally takes a balance between both the pipe size and the amount of water/pressure sent through the pipe. However the volume of water required for any segment of time over two aspects need to be increased. That is to say this translates on clock speed corresponds to the water pressure and threads of equal size. DSS also have a significant aspect dealing with latency. The latency of the SSDS is a fraction of the mechanical controls. This means that the amount of time it takes for SSD drives to manage all of the read or write requests made by the application is significantly lower. This results in lowering of the amount of time reader queries affect the overall performance of playback in real time with how fast the files are written. Codecs with different data rate requirements, often times SSD drives are cheaper options to handle data rates normally requiring an important raid configurations that are expensive. SSDS also many more applications at the same time manage which means by putting more operations on a single disc. The result is often better performance with a calendar or more complex compositions.

Comments on GPU specifications not really have an impact are relative to the AE only. This is absolutely not the case for the first, SOUL and Speedgrade, or almost any other application to GPU acceleration.

  • Video editing in the source Panel and drag it into the timeline result in a video of the cropped image.

I do a music video using Premiere CS6 and spin on this issue where, after cutting a video source in the Panel of the source using the brand/out tool and using the Insert command to put it in the timeline, the image I see in the program Committee is significantly cropped (I see that almost half of the video). The source file is a .mp4. Any advice?

The you cropping experienced, it was because your pre-defined sequence does not match your images. Your film is probably 1080 and your sequence was probably 720 or similar. Using Create Sequence clip, sequence settings match your clips and no cropping wil happen.

  • Need recommendation for laptop - for video editing

I'm trying to looking for a new laptop and need recommendations based on how I use the laptop.  I produce videos and mainly use the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Encore DVD.  I also use other software such as AutoFX PGE7.0 of photo editing.

I currently have a HP Pavilion which is about 5 years old.  This office has the following specifications:

    HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32-bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600

I believe that with a new laptop, I was able to create my videos more efficiently.  If you have any input as to what I need in a laptop for my specific purpose, please let me know.

    Thank you very much

    new computer: HPE-180 t, Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), Nvidia GeForce GT 220, Intel Core i7 - 930 quad-core CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8 GB of RAM

For what you are doing you need all the horsepower you can gather. You have not specified a budget and with what you're trying to do, I don't think that it would be useful to think of anything less than a thousand dollars. You need at least 4 GB of memory and preferably 8. You need a 64 bit version of Windows 7. You need a quad core or i7 processor. Regarding the size of the screen, it's a matter of personal choice, but I don't see how you can get in with less than a 15-inch screen. In respect to the HP products you can consider the urge again, but the problem is the lack of an internal optical drive (CD/DVD type).

HP is running a special offer on the dv6t Quad model with an i7 processor, $ 999 with a free upgrade to 4 GB of RAM and a concert full of video memory. While your P4 3.2 was the killer at a time where it was released, the dv6t Quad run rings around her, particularly in Photoshop. Make sure that you use a recent version of Photoshop with 64-bit and support multi-core. Also be sure to get the 7200 RPM hard drive, because it makes a big difference in video editing.

    Good luck and enjoy.

Yesterday, I called Adobe in Norway, but they could not answer my questions so here I

tried to make a display of the Media Machines material I will choose between.

Don't ask why I do not use it and like FCP etc. cause this is not the case.

I'll buy and use Adobe Master Collection where Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and After Effects are the most used tools for me

Here are my basic questions that I asked Adobe in Norway ( I told them the specifications of each machine ):

    1. What is the pomp machine to use when rendering time is important on Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects? (GPU, CPU, HARD DRIVE)

ANSWER: We are not allowed to say what you should buy, but you shouldn't hung up not because of numbers THAT MAC can be faster because of how the operating system.

    2. what maching has faster graphics when using AE or PP in seconds, not in the specs and numbers

ANSWER: This question we cannot answer, but you might find on an internet forum... (Well I'm ;-)

    3. I was told that the SSDS was a waste of the cause of the rendring money was mainly used by the CPU and GPU, what should I choose?

ANSWER: This is partly correct as long as the drives are fast enough. What is the format that you use?

    me - AVCHD and H.264 with Canon 7 d and Panasonic TM700 (soon TM900)

It - drive speed should not be a cause for concern that these formats are highly compressed. You can use fast SATA drives.

I really need help from someone who KNOWS what he is talking about because it's about $4800 machine pluss the external drive.

Hope that by soon someone who works with After Effects or first Pro CS 5.5

PS. I also posted this (double) in the After Effects section and none will be locked because of this, I hope... Sorry...

  • Disk size, disk speed and workflow for video editing?

I want to edit the video in 1080 p/24 drawn up to four Canon DSLR and the multi camera editing. This will be usually social and professional events, so I expect to have total raw images less than 300 GB in size by the event. My current computer (PC of Q6600) can't seem to handle that very well, so I'm going to buy a new computer. In fact, I bought all the parts except for storage because I have not determined what would be the best configuration. I need your help with this please! What is a good an event video production workflow? And what would my setup disk for this computer?

Here's what I come up with so far.

First of all, I put the OS and programs on a small SSD. I have a 128 GB crucial MX100 of the old system. Fact!

Now for the hardest part - the workflow. I think that after I have the video of an event, I want to save them on the computer and save it. I would like to save the raw images, even after I put the final product. So I think I need a lot of extra space. So, I think 2 x 3 TB RAID 1 for this.

I think that having this as a media drive would slow me during the editing process, so a fast SSD could be good here. Say an 256 GB Crucial or Samsung SSD. I copy media from RAID 1 disk on that drive, so it would be a working copy. Once the project is completed, I delete all media and copy the files from the next project media here.

When I finished editing the video, I would export it to another drive. I don't think it should be too big, but the sequential write speed should be fast. On my old system, I have a 3 TB external drive (Buffalo Drivestation, USB3.0) that I can use. I also have a blue WD 1 TB I put in RAID 0 if I buy a second. Would this work better?

Does make sense? Did I miss something?

Storage element most important to your system is to buy a Samsung SM951 512 GB SSD m2 or wait a few weeks until the Samsung 950 PRO m2 512 GB SSD is available and install either on your motherboard socket m2.  I would then like he use to all of your files to current project.  When you have finished this project archive on your hard drive or external drive.  If you need multiple direct projects, you can add another standard 6 Gbps SATA III SSD to intermediate stage, or as I do on my X-99 system get a Samsung T1 512 GB USB3 Flash drive. It will be about 2 x faster than your WD Blue or your Buffalo drive.  With your Crucial MX100 is 128 GB, you'll just have to frequently clean the Adobe "média Cache" and "Media Cache files" files which, by default, go to the C: drive to prevent their excessive become large.  This is just temporary files that will get re-created if you navigate to an older project.  In this case frequent probably means that when you change projects.

Here's Crystal disk mark first tests my SM951 in my X 99, i7-5960 X, 64 GB, computer and other hand the Samsung Q1, USB 3.0, 512 GB, Flash Drive

. First with our first Pro BenchMark (PPBM) with intensive chronology of disk test, I can write to the SM951 to 1500 MB/s.

I actually use the T1 of Samsung USB 3.0 on my laptop for all my editing, then take most of the time my X 99 to export and making the disc.  As you can see large sequential files, this is two times faster than hard drives and doesn't have any fall speed because it fills up like hard drive.

  • How export a project consisting of 2 video tracks with many clips/effects and 1 stereo audio track so that the project can be worked into another compatible editing system?

How do I export a project composed of 2 video tracks with many clips/effects more 1 stereo audio followed that project ACR is still worked in a

    compatible mounting system? Thank you!!

When you export, you create a new video file that will have effects applied... in other words, a book finished

Of course, this video 'complete' may be edited by someone else on another computer... but it SEEMS to me that what you want is for someone to take your editing, continue editing, THEN export a finished video

    Is this correct?

If so, do some reading in the help file on the Manager project, so you can put your project and all files on an external drive to give to any other person
