  But after awhile, I noticed that this driver has the same problem.   I assume you want to install XP on that Vista laptop, but the HARD drive is not visible. Am I wrong?
  Well, in this case, everything is clear for me.

  You must install the SATA driver first. For this you need the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which could be found on the Intel page too.
  Then, you need to include the pilot using an external drive to the USB FDD (diskette).

  If you n t have such external floppy drive unit then I advise to use a freeware tool called nLite to create a new Win XP CD and include the SATA driver in this new CD.

  Then you boot from this CD to reinstall Win XP on this laptop.

  For details just goggle for nLite ;)
