No changing wallpaper

Using Windows 7, I am unable to change my wallpaer. The area where the change should be entered is inactive. Other AIDS sites try me browse HKEY_Local etc, but I do not see the final element - Active Desktop. Any suggestions?

Sterling Hello,

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft Community.

This problem can occur for the following reasons:

  • There is a third party application like installed Samsung display manager.
  • In Control Panel, the wallpaper in the Power Options setting is disabled.
  • In the control, remove the background images is selected.
  • A domain policy can prevent the background to change.
  • You may have a corrupt file TranscodedWallpaper.jpg.
  • You use Windows 7 Starter Edition. Windows 7 Starter Edition does not support changing the screen background image.

To resolve this problem, I would ask you to try the troubleshooting steps provided in the below provided Microsoft Support article.

Hi, when I change my wallpaper or display the taskbar then restarted windows 7 (asus laptop) taskbar autohide, and change wallpaper unwelcom why I don't

    Hello

This who exactly are you referring to when you say "change unwelcom why I do?"

If the taskbar is hidden, point to where you saw last it show again. If you don't remember where you saw it, try pointing to the bottom of the screen first, then to the sides or top of the desktop, if necessary. You may need to move the pointer almost off the desktop computer to show the taskbar.

  • C50-B-13D - Win 8.1 satellite can't change wallpaper

    Hi people,

I'm new to this forum, please bear with me.

I bought a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite C50-B-13D yesterday with Windows installed 8.1 and I can't change the screen to a black and white of a picture of my choice... I tried everything and even watched videos on Youtube to see if there is a cure for it.

When I look at the Panel of the thumbnail shown in the photo, I chose, but real desktop (not the smart display bit) is always black. All my icons work fine, but the background won't change.

If anyone can help me with this issue, I would be really grateful?

You ask how to change the background of Windows?
    It's not very delicate.
Microsoft has published a helpful article about customizing the Windows System.

    Please check this article:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/personalize-PC-Tutorial

Note: there is a difference between the wallpaper and the lock screen.
The lock screen is the screen that you see when you lock your PC (or when it crashes automatically after you have not used for some time).

In addition to my first answer, there is no way to change the background to touch 8, other than end points where you can choose a wallpaper integrated stock of the endpoint (for example, the EX series ends), this will also make the Touch 8 use the same image.

    Hi Ben,

Because the question you posted is linked with the background screen with Server 2003 gpedit.msc change, it would be better suited in the Technet Windows network. Please post your question in the following TechNet group policy forum:

Have a laptop Gateway running Vista. Received an animated image (.gif) from another laptop where the photo has been used in the wallpaper and it was animated (several animals jumping up and down constantly). I can easily put a background like the picture, but the image will not animate. When the image is just open, it is animated. I see that your iPad is an iPad to the school. Have you been able to change wallpaper in the past that the default built in wallpapers? If you cannot change the background images by default settings, perhaps, the school has restricted somehow. You save the image in the photos app before trying to use it?

In any case, try a forced reboot and if it does not, explain in detail what happens when you try to change the background. To force the reboot your device, press and hold the two buttons of sleep/wake and home for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    Hi imhistori,

    Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Perform the check and the clean boot if you have the problem.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    User account control permission

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If the problem is resolved to check what is the cause of the problem, referring to the link given below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

This can happen because certain parameters within the power4gear program.

I suggest that you uninstall the Power4gear software and check if the wallpaper changes.

If the wallpaper does not change so it might be a problem with the Power4gear program.

For additional assistance, contact the manufacturer of the Power4gear program.

    Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

    All the best!

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • Change the wallpaper off the admin account and the background recording does not

    Hello

I'm having a problem with my background. Whenever I try to put a picture on my computer as background will not be set that image as it is, and when I put a picture of the internet as a background it will fix but don't stay once I restart the computer. This is the case EVERY TIME.

After seeing this happen several times I went to control panel > appearance and personalization > change wallpaper. What I get on this page is a simple line, "this feature has been disabled, please contact your administrator." The problem is I AM the administrator and I have never changed the parameters of the Office to act like that, and I certainly never turn off any of the display settings.

I scoured these forums and I've seen people who have similar problems (but not admin issues I'm having and not the problem with the setting of a local image) and have tried some of the solutions, including going in the ease of access settings > make computer easier to see and to erase the settings is unchecked.

    Help, please!

All the solutions I am about to propose involve not to change the registry. Since it is to change the registry I recommend that you first create a point in http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-restore-point-for-windows-vistas-system-restore/ restoration system AND back up the registry as follows: http://www.adamsdvds.co.uk/tutorials/vista/regedit/backup.php.  I also want to warn to do at your own risk and peril - I have not tried these procedures myself, so I can't speak to their effectiveness or what other impact that may lead to changes.  But if you do the safety precautions backup two above, you should be able to recover in case this does not work or something you want starts to occur.  The decision (and risk) is your enttirely.

Here is an article with a possible solution: http://www.pchell.com/support/desktopwallpaper.shtml.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another registry solution that I found in a forum:

Remove after your system using Regedit registry entry. Disconnect and reconnect.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "Wallpaper"=""

You should be able to change your background now.

    ===================================================================================================================

Here's yet another article on how to solve the problem with yet another type of editing the registry: http://www.tech-pro.net/how-to-change-desktop-wallpaper.html.

I hope that one of these options help.

    Good luck!
