No Clone and in Vsphere License Option

Hi all

I installed Vshpere and on my machine and everything works fine except for two issues:

1. I want to enter the license key, but point to "license" does not exist under "administration".

2. I want to clone the machine I installed and still once, no element of "clone" appears when right-clicking on the m..

Any ideas?

Thank you very much

The spleen

Just click on your host.

On the right you will see a tab that says configuration.

In the configuration page, you will find features under license.

Change it and assign a new key.

Yes, you need 64-bit hardware to run ESX 4.0-

You cannot use the licrnses directly, but if you have Service and active support on your ESX3 licenses your will can update the license ESX 4 licenses.

  • vSphere Replication options missing in 5.8.0.1 SRM

In my lab, I have the following Setup and can not get any vSphere replication to be available within the SRM options.  Single table according to replication is an option.  I looked and looked for a solution and we tried everything I could think to get the options will appear and I had no luck so far.

    vcenter1 - 5.5 U2 windows install

    esxi1 - 5.5

    SRM1 - MRS. 5.8.0.1 (install file 5.8.0 - 2336305)

    vR1 - vSphere replication 5.8.0.1

    vcenter2 - 5.5 U2 windows install

    esxi2 - 5.5

    SRM2 - MRS. 5.8.0.1 (install file 5.8.0 - 2336305)

    vR2 - vSphere replication 5.8.0.1

I started my lab tests by deploying the lefthand VSA with MRS.  Now, I'm moving on using SRM with replication of vSphere.  The steps I've taken since the tests on the left:

    Devices removed from Lefthand VSA

Uninstalled SRM and chose to clear the contents of the database also

Confirmed SRM is not displayed in the Web Client more

VSphere installed a replication on both sites or set to 1 VM - replication is complete

Installed SRM on the same servers as before and matching installation

Market thought the SRM configuration theres no reference and no vSphere replication option.  There's also no mention of any SRM integration when in vSphere replication interface.  Now I remember to deploy the same configuration in 5.1 which gave vR deployment options in RS, but that was then.  Now, says the documentation, you're supposed to first deploy vR, which set up and deploy the SRM.  SRM then detects vR installation and I guess that, in theory, these display options. I checked the permissions and everything seems good.  My lab account is the account I use to save and install everything.  Fine RV, by MRS replication pairs, they do not know that they could work together.  I even reinstalled SRM again and confirmed the installation files have been correct on the interoperability matrix and everything seems good.  MRS. acts just like theres nothing, but the options table replication.  I think theres a version special MRS or vSphere replication, which is necessary for the two to work together, but I can't find any documentation on this topic.

    Help, please.  Thank you!

    Hello

Since 5.8 SRM and VR are decoupled. The only way to install vSphere replication is for download and by deploying the vSphere unit of replication.

Once you do this, you should be able to right click on a virtual machine, and then select Configure replication. When replication is set up for at least a virtual computer, you can include it in a group of Protection of SRM. You can do this by going to SRM UI, select "create Protection Group and selecting"vSphere replication"replication type.»

    Good luck

  • 5 of VSphere and VMware vSphere Essentials Licensing

I just the unit of vCenter installed and put my license keys in for VMware vSphere Essentials Bundle - (version 5.0) - license - 3 guests - up to 2 processors by host

However, when I connect via vSphere client of web it says I have a key that expires in 60 days (the assessment key). I can't delete this key. I'll find myself unable to manage my VM with vSphere Web Client in 60 days?

    Man, this approval is confusing!

Looks like that you always use your evaluation key for your instance of vCenter instead of your purchased key.  If you click on the tab of systems vCenter server you should be able to pass the eval on a key your purchased key.  That should solve your problem.

  • vSphere vMotion and 5 new license model

Hi, I'm still not clear to the new vSphere license model 5.

VRAM right how does not limit the guest computers?

Let's say that if I buy essential more that supports 3 guests with 2 processors each and its right of vRAM is 32 GB for each processor (3 guests x 2 CPU x 32 = 192 GB MAX).

It means that I have 192GO in the pool of vRAM?

So I don't have that one host, I have 192GO for guests running on a single host?

If the maximum is 32 GB for each host, which is produced in the following conditions?

    1 buy one essential plus

    2. create 2 ESXi hosts to make HA

    3. 5 guest computers run on an ESXi host, and their total of vRAM is almost 32 GB

    4. a guest computer is running on a different host ESXi and put the ESXi prompt second to the first vMotion ESXi.

5 vMotion will be failed due to the vRAM on the ESXi frist limitaion?

License is done on a base taken by CPU, which means that you must have a license by socket in each server that you license.

Each instance of license also has a right to vRAM.  In the case of most, it's 32 GB/socket.

The Essentials Plus kit includes 6 processor socket and vCenter licenses.

If you have one host managed by this vCenter, the straight of vRAM (192GB) would be available for this single host, as vSphere Essentials 6 CPU socket licenses are grouped in vCenter, and that a single host to assign the right to the vRAM.

Don't forget that the vRAM is simply the amount of memory assigned to the virtual machines, not the amount of memory you can install in a host.

See the book of Pricing and packaging vSphere 5 for more details (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf) you can also double check everything with account team, VAR or Integrator of which you intend to purchase licenses.

Now, if you have a cluster of high availability of vSphere, you won't want to use 100% of your memory on each host anyway, as you'll want to keep resources available for a failover situation and reserved.  For 3 guests, as example and no overcommitment of memory, you'll want to make sure that at least ~ 33% of your resources of memory are not used in the event of a host failure.  In the case of say, Essentials Plus, you will have 192 GB of vRAM available straight to your cluster and with a distributed evenly the workload, it would mean 64 GB of vRAM active on each host.  To compensate for HA, hosts resources would probably be sized at a minimum of 96 GB of RAM physical each (64 GB for the active virtual machines and 32 GB for memory of failover ability) or more, depending on the tolerance of the use.  That would mean 288 GB of RAM purchase physical for 3 guests, while only 192GB is licensed based on the right of vRAM.

If you have only 2 hosts in your cluster, you always have access to the 192GB vRAM right of the kit of Essentials Plus.  Obviously, the numbers will work out differently.  You can use the 96 GB of vRAM on each host, but at this point, you can buy your hosts with at least 192 GB of physical RAM each to accommodate a failure of the host (again, assuming that no overcommitment of memory on the host).

License in common based on a vCenter server to manage your licenses.

  • vSphere license and ESX 3.5 servers battery

    Guys,

I have a client who is not ready to upgrade to vSphere but must add another server to the farm of ESX 3.5. We told by VMware that they must purchase a license vSphere and then downgrade to 3.5. Then add the server to the farm.

Does anyone do this? Exactly how would that work? What is the best/better way to do it?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, they can spend to return vSphere licenses. As we have already mentioned, technically, you can continue to use these two licenses, doubling the number of servers, but it is against the license agreement. You can use vSphere license or license of 3.5, but not both at the same time.

  • Downgrade and divide vSphere 6 Enterprise license?

    Small question

I have not had to do this before, so I want to make sure you do the right thing

We have just received a 20 CPU license for vSphere 6 Enterprise through our portal of VMware.

Normally when we receive licenses via the portal of VMware, we divide it into 2 CPU licenses for our dual CPU servers.

A 20 CPU license is divided into 10 licenses of 2 processors

What of new now, is that we will also install the need to downgrade vSphere licenses 6 in vSphere 5 as we are activating vSphere 5.5

Do I need to downgrade the CPU 20 license, we received in vSphere 5 before that I divide them or do I need to downgrade 10 2 CPU licenses after that I have split them?

    Does it matter either way?

I received an email from our VMware counterpart.

In case anyone else needs to know, you can perform this function downgrade/split or split/downgrade anyway

  • vSphere Licensing

I am a student doing a project where I need to develop a virtual infrastructure. I chose VMware since I am more familiar with their products.

The project includes two sites and a total of 15 people. In the beginning, I chose the vSphere Essentials Plus kit. I have 2 servers on the main site and 1 to the other site. I was going to buy an additional vCenter of license and 2 licenses SRM server. Basically, with the configuration of the infrastructure with the ability to replication on the other site and raise all reviews virtual machines on the server in the other site as a form of DR. The more research I do, the more I see how it is not extensible in the future. I also wonder if it is still possible given the licensing restrictions.

I did research on vSphere standard edition because I believe that it is probably a better option. I have a few questions about how the licenses work as this edition has more factors involved.

From my research, this is what I have gathered.

vSphere Standard edition with basic support is $1715.72 - is that physical price by UC?

I would also like, more than one instance of vCenter (1 for each site). Do I need to purchase a license additional vCenter, or y at - it a pack containing 2 licenses?

In addition, in order to have the capacity to DR, would need RS. Do I need 2 licenses of MRS?

Is anyway to get the price for all this? I was not able to find the price of the additional licenses.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi Welcome to the communities,

you need a single vSphere Standard/ORL/Ent + per socket/physical CPU license, Yes.

About MRS. you should take a look at vSphere replication. It is included in all standard vSphere licenses and of better quality. Perhaps it meets your needs, as a SRM license for up to 75 VMs would cost about $7000, I think.

As you said you are a student, you're doing this project for a University? You may get lower prices then.

I would contact the commercial service of VMware for the best info:

    Hello

Details in the FAQ: FAQ | Adobe Creative Suite

Adobe offers licenses in volume for CS6?

Made Adobe Creative cloud the exclusive source for all the creative types of licenses. This means that CS6 is no longer be available for transactional licensing (CLP and TLP) programs and Cumulative. All other Adobe products available under volume license, such as Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Presenter, will not be affected by this change. • Can not get the eval of vsphere license key

    People,

Successfully, I registered for an assessment of vSphere with operations management and got my license key "VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.7. When I try to apply this key to my vCenter Server I get the error "license error: 5" "Diagnostic message: not found license file ' (see image). I get this error even when you try to apply this key to my 5.1 ESXi server.

(Moderator note: capture with screen a.p. deleted license key!)

I KNOW the license key is not for vsphere, but rather for Operations Manager, but How can I get a trial for vSphere license key? Is it possible to apply the license key that I got to vCenter or should I install the vCenter operations Management unit and apply this license key for this server? The procedure to apply my evaluation license key is NOT FACT CLEAR in all the documentation I've found so far on the assessment of vSphere.

Could someone PLEASE provide a definitive statement on how to use my provided evaluation license key (see picture) and how to obtain and to correctly apply an evaluation of my vCenter Server license?

    vmware_vsphere_eval_license_2013-06-28.png

I would be very grateful for any help.

    Thank you.

Some products require a key for evaluation and others do not. vCenter Server and ESXi running in eval without key mode, but vCOPS requires a key.

You can use the license on any installation that you like, as long as ensure you that each license is used only once. What you need to do to be completely compatible with the EULA - if you want to use the license with your current configuration - is to install the production environment without adding licenses (i.e. run in eval mode), then migrates virtual machines, withdraw the licenses of pre-production systems and add them to the production system. It is not necessary to republish the keys or something like that, the keys remain the same.

  • What version of vSphere/license is for me?

We have a physical server with 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2640 (eachwith 6 x 2.50 GHz) CPU & 96 GB of RAM. We would like the server to run ESXi 5 and hosting 4 virtual machines.

I think that 'free' ESXi V5 allows us only to affect up to 32 GB of RAM (for all virtual machines?). Therefore, looks like we need to buy 'VMware vSphere Essentials Kit' - but I think it does that of 3 guests, max 2 processors/host & 192 GB of VRAM.

We have 4 guests - is possible to buy 2 kits of "VMware vSphere Essentials" for the same physical server? If not, what version/vSphere license do we buy?

    Thanks for your advice.

Can you please clarify what you need? 4 VM 4 ESXi hosts (or both)?

If it's only 4 VM on the host, then you are right, you must e.g. vSphere Essentials and must also deploy a vCenter Server/Appliance, because the right to vRAM (6 x 32GB) is pooled by vCenter Server.

  • 5 vsphere license keys will work on vCenter 4.1?

My attempts to record the vSphere license keys 5 on vCenter 4.1 failed with the message "License not found error 5 license file.

Anyone have any idea if this is due to the difference in versions (ie the vsphere licenses 5 on vcenter 4.1)? or is it perhaps something else?

No, the keys do not work.

You must connect to Vmware and manage your license, do a downgrade. (you can do an upgrade later)

You cannot use both licenses at the same time.

  • Change the 'label' on an active vSphere license?

    All,

I have a lot of "combined" vSphere licenses groups in vCenter 4.1, I would change the descriptive label on some of the or the vSphere currently loaded in vCenter licenses.

Cannot do through the UI, I have looked on the tables of database VPX_LIC_ * but don't see anything with the information on the label.  I could go through the center of the license and get the keys to the 'News', but I have to go through several cycles to combine/split to obtain the appropriate keys, too much work.

Anyone know where this information is stored?  I expect it to be in the same table as VPX_LIC_LICENSES (which is where the license keys are) but no dice.

    Ben

The label can be changed by going to the page of vSphere vSphere Client licenses, view by product, then developing the object to see its keys.

Since the key line, click on the label and press F2 to edit the entry (or you can double click on it).

I've edited all my labels to better describe what they manage (such as Group A, Group B, etc.).

I was able to do this since vCenter 4.0, tested on 4.1 and it still works fine.

  • Question of VSphere licenses (attributed more CPU than actually)

    Hello!

I have three licenses of business (1 to 6 cores per processor) of vSphere 4 with different capacities. And I have a problem with both of them. In VCenter license page shows me that a license assigned to 6 CPU, but its actually attributed only to 4 CPUS (two ESX servers with two cpu's (4cores) of each). And another licensed showed as assigned to 16 CPU, but actually his attributed only to 14 CPU'. This license has a total 16 CPU capacity and that's why I can't add another a host ESX to my Infrastructure. And with last license, I have not any problemms. Why it might be so? Please help me if you know how to solve this problem.

Try to remove ALL licenses and add them.

If this does not work go to your portal vLicense on VM Ware, regenerate the NEW keys for your existing licenses and remove existing keys in vCenter, and then ADD the new that you generate.

You can split a license and then join them that will make new keys.

Otherwise, you must call the vmware support and ask people to licensing to help you.
