  • I need a driver for a Compaq Presario XP Professional ethernet

It is an old machine that has not been used for many years and has never connected with something else than to remote access.  I have it dug in the attic and I wanted to set for a 8 year old nephew.  The Tower seems quite functional - it displays on a work of monitor, keyboard and mouse flat screen and the sound is fine, but there no network driver.

I don't see anything outside of the case that gives me information on the model number.  I went on Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information and under manufacturer , it lists Compaq and under model lists Presario.  Nothing else.   I copied Belarc Advisor on the desktop and run that, but he also fails to give me specific information needed in a number of model or what I should be downloading network driver.

I can certainly provide all or part of the Information or Belarc system information, if this can help someone to determine the necessary driver, and I can, of course download as another tool to a USB key and install it on the Presario if anyone knows another product that could help...

That's right (it is called a hardware ID in Vista, W7 & W8).

The device decodes to a NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Adapter.

See if you install this driver works.

  • Compaq Presario SR1214NX desktop PC: update BIOS for SATA HDD?

    Hi CV Experts.

In 2004, I bought a HP Compaq Presario SR1214NX desktop PC. Now, leave the original hard drive and I bought a new Seagate 500 GB SATA hard drive. I thought that this would work because the PC MoBo has two SATA connectors. After installation, I noticed the drive is not detected. I checked the BIOS but not hard listed. The installed BIOS is "BIOS Award BIOS Core Version 6.0 revision 3.10 26/07/2004.» What can I do? Is there a BIOS update available?

    Help, please!

Do more research on this issue, I think that this motherboard may not have native support SATA. You can use ports SATA via Windows after you have installed the necessary drivers. I suggest that you add a primary as hard drive IDE PATA drive and load Windows. Post windows installation, install the necessary SATA drivers and plug the secondary drive SATA for use as a hard disk.

I'm sorry for all of the early confused communications.

  • The recovery disks do not work for the hard drive replaced in my Presario CQ4010F desktop PC

    Hi all

I have a Compaq Presario CQ4010F Desktop PC (Windows 7 64-bit) in which the hard drive went bad. I bought a new hard drive which is a 1 to, the failed drive was 500 GB. So, I ordered disks system recovery, four in total. The disk labeled 'Use this first!' appear to be running fine, then prompted me to launch the next disc, which I assume is the 1 of 3 system recovery disk. With the computer, always, I inserted the CD 1 of 3 and have waited and watched as nothing has happened. I restarted the PC with the 3 disc 1 again and that will inspire nothing happened. Any help is appreciated in this matter.

    Hello:

If you can't get the recovery disks to work (don't make sure that the keyboard, mouse and monitor are connected), then you can make your own windows 7 installation DVD and use that to at least get windows 7 installed and your PC back to the operation.

    Here's how.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Which hard drive do I need for my compaq presario CQ60

which hardd drive do I need for my Compaq Presario CQ60? And where would be a good place to try to get a quality for a lower price? Thanks advance.

    Hello

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be great for your laptop computer, as long as it's the same capacity or larger than your current HARD drive.

    Hard drive 320 GB

The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed from Page 51 in your & Maintenance Guide.

Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.

If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

    Kind regards

What is a good replacement that takes in charge a cd/dvd ide burner and sata hard drive for undeer £100. I have also 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM installed.

    Thank you

    Tony

Here are the specifications of your Compaq Presario SR1909UK desktop and it is card mother A8M2N-(NodusM). There is a conflict in the two specifications for what CPU socket is actually used. The computer specifications claim a socket 939 CPU, while the motherboard plug State she has a socket AM2. You will need to examine your system to confirm what type of CPU and socket he did.

It can be difficult to locate a market after motherboard that will meet your needs as AM2 socket 939 about 5 years to 8 years and are several obsolete generation. Check e - Bay or similar in your area for a replacement card which meets you the specifications. Please keep in mind is likely to replace the HP OEM Board on your computer Windows become a "non-genuine" and require the purchase of a new operating system. Note that the recovery discs you created will not be also usable on your computer.

  • Compaq Presario SR1517CL Desktop processor upgrade

I have a Compaq presario SR1517CL desktop with Asus K8S - motherboard and a Sempron 3000 + 1.8 GHz cpu. Can I switch to a faster processor. If so, that we recommend. I was watching an AMD Sempron 145 2.8 GHz.

For the salmon in your desktop PC motherboard, go with an Athlon 64. There is a world of difference between Athlon 64 and Sempron processors.  Semprons are in lack of power as consideration for Intel, which is known as a Celeron of treatment.

  • Upgrade memory of PC Compaq Presario SR2177CL Desktop problem

I have a Compaq Presario SR2177CL desktop PC.  I checked the specifications of the product on the HP site and this is what it says for the record:

    Memory

    Attributes Installed memory 1 GB Maximum allowed 4 GB * (4 x 1 GB)
    * Actual available memory may be less

    Speed supported PC2-4200 MB/sec Type 240 pin DDR2 SDRAM

I went to newegg and purchased:

    CORSAIR ValueSelect 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Me...

When I put the pair of DIMMs in the pc, it won't post more.  The screen is still asleep and I never see the bios screen, I can't go in the bios configuration, or whatever it is.  As soon as I remove the pair, it works again.  The PC came with 2 512 MB DIMM in the slot 1 and 2, so I tried to delete those and replacing them with the pair I bought and got the same results.  I buy the bad memory?  I see it should work.

Thanks in advance for any help and ideas.

    Chuck

Finally!  I decided to try the suggested crucial.com memory, I went to the city and found in the store of the local computer.  It is plugged in and it works like a charm.  NewEgg gave me a credit on the memory of others when I called them, so everything worked.

    Hello

Check with Compaq Support, their drivers and documentation online and ask in their forums.
Other good sources are the real manufacturers such as Intel, ATI, Nvidia, RealTek or that which
is the manufacturer of the device OEM.

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - graphics card - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on set to update driver
(this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with
their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), then the manufacturer of the device
site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and)
software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - reset after each
    installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up.
This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so
install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and try again if necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check manually
    by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
