Hello

I use VMWARE 7 program... I installed two virtual machines (windows server 2008 and windows 7)... I have attached two pic for each other... .my problem is... There is no rattling between these two machines... I disabled the firewall in both entities... How you can help me in this...

I do a bit of practice for MCITP study... In windows server 2008, I use Bridge and in the Windows NAT using 07:00

Well, I guess you should start your trip MCITP become familiar with the IP configuration and routing

Addresses that you configured do not work that way. Assuming that the physical - bridged - network (if connected) is 192.168.100.x, you may be able to access the Windows Server 2008, but you will never be able to access the virtual from Windows 7 computer with the NAT configuration, because NAT is running on another network (vmnet8 - 192.168.201.x). Depending on the need or not to be able to access the outside world of the virtual machine, you should consider is instituted two virtual machines with an IP address in the range of vmnet1 (Host-Only - 192.168.80.x) or vmnet8 (NAT - 192.168.201.x). In the case of NAT, configure the virtual machine for DHCP or use IP addresses between x.x.x.3 and x.x.x.127.

  • Networking between virtual machines on different hosts

    Hello

I need some advice on the basic approach to networking between virtual machines, each running on a different host machine.

    Consider the following configuration:

I have a few processes that are running in a Machine virtual Ubuntu. Call this guest1.  I guest1 race inside a real computer running Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 1.

I have a copy of this virtual machine that I put on another machine.  Call this Guest2.  I have Guest2 running on a separate physical computer, also runs Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 2.

Now, I would like to guest1 and 2 comments to make networking with eachother.  I wish they were able to ping, SSH, etc., among others.

This is where I am stuck. I tried setting the virtual machines to use the bridged network mode.  I tried to connect my router on each computer and manually assigning IP addresses to each host and each virtual computer.  When I do this, guest1 can Host1 and Host2 ping, but cannot ping Guest2 and vice versa.

What is the right way to do this kind of network?  This seems like an obvious application, if you want to perform simulations on multiple virtual machines residing on different computers on the network.

I apologize if this is the answer elsewhere, I had to dig and was not able to find the solution.

    Thanks in advance!

    Charles

Guests must be on the same subnet, like 'real' hardware machines.

1 when you copied the VM and then started, what did answer you the question of copy/move? (this determines if a new MAC address is applied)

2 view each guest and ' ipconfig/all' results 'ifconfig - a' by the hosts.

  • flow of traffic between virtual machines

If I had 2 machines virtual on the same slide in a M3 of b200 on the same vswitch, is communication on traffic between the 2 vms strictly inside the m3 Server?

What if I had a virtual machines on a b200m3 and another virtual machine to another b200m3?

same chassis and the chassis is connected to the FI

Traffic between virtual machines will stay on the FI or it will mount the switch to basic?

so, if is blade1 VM1 and VM2 is Blade2 and both on the same vlan
Traffic will remain within FI or it will go up North to core?

Both is possible! as I said above: If the entry and exit are on the fabric a RESP. B, it is switched.

However, it could also be A penetration, exit on B or vice versa and then must go to the North (and get switched L2)

    What if

Blade1 is VM1 and VM2 is on blade2 but on different VLANS, the traffic will have to hit the correct base gateway?

    Yes!

  • VMWare Fusion 6, after upgrade cannot copy and paste between virtual machines, desktop missing files

I upgraded from VMWare Fusion 5 to 6, and after the upgrade I can't copy/paste between virtual machines. In addition, the files that are on my desktop Mac are now missing and inaccessible on my Windows desktop.

    Tools update or reinstall?

  • Disable copying files between virtual machines

When I go to several virtual desktops using VMware View 4, I am able to copy files between virtual machines. Virtual machines are located in various isolated networks. It is a security problem in my organization and how do I disable this feature? I am not able to find any related configuration in sight connection to the server. Thank you!

I assume you are using RDP as the Protocol currently, correct?

In this case, you will need to implement some GPO:s in the workstations to avoid copy and paste.

Look in the 'Extras' folder on the view connection server, there are a number of ADM files that you can implement to restrict all sorts of things.

    Best regards

  • Cannot ping between virtual servers on the same host

I have a 5 ESXi host with 3 virtual copies of Windows Server 2008R2 running on them. The ESXi host is connected to my switch, which has the Windows 2008 R2 DC to my test network and my laptop management with VSphere branch above as well. I can ping host, mobile and ad server of each of the individual virtual servers and can ping and RDP for all 3 from other devices not on that host, but I cannot communicate between the three. I have Windows Firewall disabled on all three. I have no firewall, and all machines have an IP address in the 10.0.0.X range I deleted then recreated the only virtual switch on the host on which appear all 3. I've been VERY frustrated for the last 3 days on it. Why my virtual machine cannot talk to each other?

When you have registered virtual machines in ESX you selected moved VM or Coiped VM? Go to editing parameters and watch the MAC addresses. My guess is that if you copied power (including the vmx files) then the MAC address is the same for all virtual machines. You can stop the machine and change for a MAC address mac address. You can also remove the network adapters, one of each, and then add the new network cards. Remember to reconfigure the IP addresses on the box and remove the ghost network maps after doing this.

Check this KB to change the mac address.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalID=507

Also, can you connect to the switch and look at the ARP table and see if the system VMs register here.

  • Cannot ping the Virtual Machine by host

    Hi all,

Please help, I use VMWare Workstation 6.5 and I have a physical operating system which is Windows XP SP2, I have a network card, but not connected to a physical switch, the IP address is 192.168.0.1. I installed a Virtual Machine using Microsoft Windows 2003 server as the operating system, promote as domain controller, install the DHCP, DNS service and assign an IP 192.168.0.2, no default gateway.

My VMnet1 on physical operating system has an IP 192.168.204.1 and VMNet8 has an IP 192.168.126.1.

The host, I cannot ping the 192.168.0.2 which is the IP address of the Virtual Machine. Even in the Virtual Machine, I can not ping 192.168.0.1 is the IP address of the host. From what I read, the physical and the virtual machine were connected with a virtual switch. Am I wrong?

    Any advice?

    Thanks in advance.

  • LUNS shared between virtual machines? How?

    Hello..

I shared LUN for ESXi host and now I want to have a shared LUN for my VMs too how can I do?

Logic unit number that I want to do shared is already shared between my esx hos, can now do the same LUNS shared between my VMs? Is this possible?

Tring to use RDMS, but when I assign shared my LUN shared for ESX host so not able to assign the same to another virtual computer that is located on another host ESX ESX LUN to my VM, its goingfrom

    Any idea?

    Thank you

Once you have assigned to a virtual machine the RDM will be disppear. However as a virtual mode, there is a hard pointer created in the data store. then go on host2 make sure he has access to the LUN, and then add the pointer hard on the virtual computer via the existing disk option.

  • Cannot ping a virtual machine, except on the host computer.

I have a host of SuSE, built on a chassis of IBM. It has a link for the failover interface. It has an IP of 10.10.138.196. SM 255.255.255.128. DG 10.10.138.129. I can ping this machine without problem. On that note, I have a virtual machine of SuSE. It has the same mask and gateway with an IP address of 10.10.138.197. It can ping the host (196) and the host can it ping. However, he cannot ping to the gateway by defaut.129. He receives a message Impossible to its own virtual interface. I have installation bridged networking early with no luck.

I tried to change the DG on the guest a.196. I have installation routes by default, and specific directions to 10.10.138.129 on the host and the guest without success. I talked to a few colleagues and they are not of course either. I need this available, so it can be used for a variety of applications.

You will not see a virtual NETWORK adapter for bridged interface, only for NAT and the host-only networking. There will be a device/dev/vmnet0, but that is not actually used to fill itself.

Your problem is that your bridged interface is bound to the wrong card on the host: it must be related to "bond0" not "eth0". You will need to re - run /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl to address which forces all running VMs to be stopped.

  • How to configure NTP between Virtual Machines without using Vsphere Client

I have a group of 8 virtual servers of 5.5 ESXi without an Internet connection. There are virtual machines on each of these 8 virtual servers.

I did one of these 5.5 virtual ESXi host a NTP server by editing the file /etc/ntp.conf with below configuration and

started the ntpd daemon. He began to take the time to its local clock, here's the output of ntpq Pei

    IP server 10.108.190.14

ip address of the client 10.108.190.15

Then I edited the file /etc/ntp.conf on customers with below configuration but the customer would not synchronize with the server. He

wouldn t get response from the server. Here is the output of ntpq Pei

Now, when I configure NPT Client/Server on virtual machines through the Configuration Option under Option Configuration time

in Vsphere Client everything works fine and the client and the server to synchronize with each other. I checked the file /etc/ntp.conf on both the client

and the server and it has a couple of restrict 127.0.0.1 and restrict the lines added by default kod nomodify etc.

So why NPT Server featured when enabled via Vsphere Client works very well, but it does not work when it is configured manually

    in the virtual servers directly.

I was connected to a vCenter Server Appliance through the VSphere Client and enabled the synchronization of time of the NPT.

I really need to know how to configure the NTP server without using the Vsphere Client so that I can automate the

task by writing a python script that would connect to each virtual server and NTP Client/Server configuration.

Any help in this issue deeply appreciated!

    Thank you!

You can configure the ntp server without using viclient.

  • vCenter storage iSCSI 5.5 and shared between virtual machines

I have just two 2012 Win computers virtual server in the cluster.  I've prested my iSCSI LUNS and the ESX host can see them and I might add in order to become a data store.

My VMs Win2012 need to share the storage for a cluster SQL database.  I have never done this and everything I tried at this point has failed.  I tried to create the ROW, but that only worked to connect it to a player on one of the virtual machines.

I'm sure this is possible, but I'm not even sure where to look.  Is it really that RDM is for or is there another way?  Looks like I have would be sufficient to use the initator iSCSI in Windows to connect to my SAN but that would probably slow.

    Any help would be great!

Yes it can be done - have you seen http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-55/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-55-setup-mscs.pdf

  • How see Horizon share the GPU between virtual machines?

Say I have three hosts, and only two have the GPU Nvidia, what happens when I vmotion virtual machine to the host without GPU?  Only VM loses the ability to use the GPU?

The short answer is Yes (hardware GPU).

If you have the "3D renderer" option in the game of pool parameters seen on 'Automatic' virtual machine will always be able to power on, but it will use a GPU rendering software (not hardware as your other hosts with an installed GPU).  If the '3D renderer' setting is 'Material' the VM does not power on when you try to run out of the host with no GPU and I think he can not even vmotion over the host with no GPU installed (there should be a check to ensure if the virtual machine is compatible with the host his tent of vmotion for).

  • Prevent communication between virtual machines

    Hi all

What we have is a VLAN in our network which consists of the entry door and a selection of VM connected to it. What I want to do is to stop the virtual machine to be able to communicate with each other, far from putting each its own dedicated VLAN?

Anyone else has any better ideas?

    Thank you

    I have.

You must use standard vSwitch or have you allowed for Distributed Switch? If have a dSwitch you could use the VLAN private and do what you want, i.e. a larger VIRTUAL local network and still does not allow virtual machines to communicate. They would be on a "vlan isolated private" I think.

  • Share a drive between Virtual Machines

    Hello

I'm pretty new to VMware so forgive me if this is a silly question.  I am trying to create a shared drive for 2 different Virtual Machines on the same data store.  Each server has its own C: drive that has their installation in this document, which works fine, but I wish they have an E: drive shared that they can have access.  I tried to add a second virtual hard dirve for each machine and oriented the same file but the frist machine locks the file so that the other lights.

Is there another way to do this?

    Thank you

Yes it is not possible in this way. You can use a ROW which could be added as a hard drive in both these virtual machines. For purposes of sharing there are two options i.e.

Virtual - for this nodes to the same ESX.

Physics - for this nodes in two different ESX servers.
