No shortcut/folder "Windows Virtual PC" appears in the start menu after installation.

I am re - a question that has been previously published by "turkeh" which the answer has not solved the problem. New: after successful Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Ultimate RC installation the specified shortcut, "windows virtual PC", does not appear under "all programs" as the moderators mentioned; It simply isn't there. Uninstall and reinstall XP mode does not help.

Help with this is appreciated. Thank you.

It seems that the information may be incorrect.  You must install both, because the Menus are created by the installation of Virtual PC.  Windows XP mode installs just needed to run files, which are then used by Virtual PC.

See you soon,.

  • After the installation of Windows Virtual PC on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit system it does not appear in the start menu. How can I fix this so that I can run Windows XP in Windows Virtual PC?

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit running on an Intel i7 2600 system with an ASUS P8P67 motherboard.  Intel virtualualization has been enabled in the bios.  Windows XP mode has been installed on the system and the operating system has been updated with Service Pack 1.  Windows Virtual PC has been downloaded and installed, but does not appear in the start menu in the programs list. Now download for Windows Virtual PC will not allow to install another, nor that the first installation can be uninstalled because it is not on the list of programs. Off topic, I know, but you can work some magic for another problem. When I boot, when half of the icons appear in the notification area, I get a message that Windows Firewall is disabled. After the last icons appear, the message disappears and the firewall turns on again. It's annoying, and I'd love to [repair]. Thank you.

Assuming that the message "the Windows Firewall is disabled" comes from the Security Center (Windows), looks like you see what we call a "race condition". Essentially, Security Center is loading before the Windows Firewall was fully charged (may be due to the amount of NAV system resources then uses what he loads and runs his own control over the firewall).

Until the warning goes away in a few minutes, don't worry, you see a normal behavior (for Windows XP).

  • Windows Fax and Scan does not appear in the start menu

: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and you want to (a) send faxes via a modem local fax and b scan docs from a local scanner. I mean, there should be a program Windows fax and scan shown in the start menu. I clicked all programs on the start menu, and it doesn't always show. Suggestions?

    From: Hal

Fax and scan is available in Windows Vista Business and Ultimate editions, it is not available in any of the Windows Vista Home editions.  Since you have a version of Windows Vista Edition family, the only option of fax is a third-party product.  These products work under Windows Vista:

    Snappy Fax

    RKSFax

    http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

    VentaFax

    http://www.VentaFax.com/

    FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 7.5

    http://www.FaxTalk.com/products/ftfcp/index.htm

I have seen reports that the free version of BVRP also works with Windows Vista:

    http://www.usr.com/BVRP/bvrp.asp

    BVRP PhoneTools

Given the above comes with the new USR modem, I don't know if it will work with no - USR modems.  Alternatively, you can send faxes via your Internet connection provided you are willing to pay for an Internet E - Fax service:

  • Windows XP two entries in the start menu. I followed the program from one to the other files?

More of a problem of operating systems XP and how to bind the program files for the new version

My system was not properly initialize (continulally reseting) to repair the fault that I had to make a form of repair of the windows installation CD. I now have version 2 of the windows XP operating system (host1 and windows 2) on my computer. Windows 2 is the version that works (constantly does not restart) ok, but all my program files, documents, etc. are still linked to the old version (windows 1) and therefore do not apear in the start menu. Is it possible to have these appear in the windows start menu 2, so I don't need to reload all my programs and also allow me to remove this old version that has been corrupted and not lose my files and applications. Thanks in advance.

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

It seems that you have reinstalled Windows XP on a different partition. In this case, you will not be able to use the installer on another.

You will need to reinstall all the programs on the new facility and also, redo the settings.

You can follow the below mentioned article to remove the invalid entry in the start menu.

My account is the only account on my computer of the family that seemed to have lost the look of Windows Vista in the start menu and taskbar, as well as the windows that appear. What happened since I restarted the computer the other day, and it's really frustrating.

    Try this:

    Restore point:

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

  • recently programs do not appear on the start menu?

I checked in properties in the start menu, but do not see anything wrong with it and I need to know how to put the 'programs' recently back to the list in the menu start? At the moment it is all areas even after opening certain programs and check again, yet show blanks. The pinned programs above are correct.

I think it was caused by the update of Advanced SystemCare version, but I don't know, I have tried to use the system restore to go back before I installed this update, he told me that it can not be restored to the point. I have attempted to coupls of days prior to the date of update installed no success at all.

Hai I bye a hard disk for my computer laptop is 550 HP Seriers notebook, because my previous hard disk have complaints, but when I corrected this hard drive in the laptop the start menu does not display of hardisk why?

    Hello

    1. you have a single hard drive connected to the computer?

The issue could be related to the physical connection of the hard disk, I would suggest that you check the physical connection of the hard drive and check if that helps. You can also get in touch with the manufacturer for details on the connection.

The issue could also be tied to the BIOS settings. You can get in touch with the computer manufacturer for help with the BIOS settings.

    Note:

BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. • Folder icon in all programs on the start menu

I tried to change the icons of the folders in all programs on the start menu. But after that, it has been restored. Nothing is left.

Hoping that windows can automatically display the icons of the programs installed on these files.

    Hello

I understand that you want to change the icons of folders in the files shows all programs menu.

You can change the icons of folders which are displayed in the file Explorer, but these changes will not be reflected in the access to the start menu.

However, you can use some 3rd 3rd party apps that can help you to do the same.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.
