No sound on iMac

I recently bought a pair of bluetooth speakers to my new Mac Mini and tested on this iMac. Now the speakers are disabled and this iMac is in another room, but I noticed when I hit the volume keys, he is a bit crossed out "no" symbol under the feedback volume indicator that appears briefly on the screen. By clicking on the speaker icon in the menu bar, the slider is all the way back and can not be moved. Go to the sound section in system preferences, I see that I have selected internal speakers, but it is impossible to move the output Volume slider. The devices section of the Bluetooth system preferences section shows that the speakers are "not connected". Why can I not reactivate the volume on this iMac?

Try to delete the preferences of your iMac Bluetooth Bluetooth speakers.  Here is an example of using Bluetooth headphones I paired with my Macbook Pro.  As you move your mouse over Bluetooth speakers, you should see the (X) appear to allow you to remove them.

  • Is this normal for retina imac to do great headphone plug sound during installation first speakers?  Some new arise as well.

I have an imac of retina.  Since the day I bought it new, I also had new harman/kardon talking plugged into the headphone jack.  This has worked well for more than a year or two.  Recently, I noticed an occasional static or pop.  It is not very strong, it's just boring.  I went to make sure that the headphone jack was still firmly inserted on the speakers and a very strong buzz takes place when you first insert the speakers.  To be fair, makes the noise even if I touch just the end of the shooting (of speakers), as if my human energy is impacting on the speakers.   Is this normal?

Everything seems to work very well for most Park with the imac and the speakers, once I insert them.  But they are a very strong when buzz jack of first contact with the helmet of the imac.  In addition, it seems to be a very slight whistle full time air and occasional pop of static sound.

I moved the speaker wire to ensure that they were not in contact with anything whatsoever.

I changed the plug for the speakers.

Another thing before I wrap up this thing and go through the genius bar appointment process?  Everything I am on?

    Hello

The short answer is no the explanation is that the headphones and speakers, both, must be in the State of "Turn off" when you connect or plug in the unit. Amplified as helmet speakers power can be "plugged hot."

These phone can get dirty sitting and not mobile. Simply power off all devices and 'gently' work the phone jack to plug and unplug some times help you to establish a better connection. If this does not resolve the static electricity, then consider that it should be considered by a professional.

  • Problem with iMac Start Up - file flashes and no sound

    Hello.

I was using my iMac mid 2007 earlier today, when he started to slow down, with the color wheel appearing whenever I tried to click on something.

I left only for a few seconds, thinking that he just needed some time, before the screen went all white. I turned off the computer in decision-making, tried to restart, but after several attempts to turn it back on, all I get is a white screen and a file flashing with an exclamation mark on the subject.

I tried the cmd + R trick, but it does not work and there is also no startup sound, that is, or so I read, when you're supposed to press these keys.

According to me, the iMac has been updated to OS X El Capitan (10.11), otherwise this was Yosemite, but I don't know what level of the update, I was on. I can't access the computer for you tell all the other details, but I'm sure he had a memory of 4 GB, I have improved the memory myself.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

The flashing? means that it cannot find your hard drive. Looks like your hard drive is faulty / failed.

  • iMac sound just died

The sound died today on my iMac.  iTunes opens by itself, and I can't listen to music if I try to play anything.  I checked mute and in system preferences, he has not yet shown built-in speakers, just the headphones and it kept flashing like a neon sign.  Does anyone else know something similar to this?

There are several possible reasons for the release of its failure. Please take each of the following steps that you have not already tried it. Some may not apply to your model. Stop when the problem is resolved.

You should do this even if the software is not causing the problem, because it is useless.

    4. other third party which has been reported to interfere with an audio software includes the "Boom" and "Samsung Kies". If necessary, uninstall instructions of the developer (not not by dragging something in the trash.)

    5. If a device AirPlay is selected for the audio release of iTunes (or other applications via third party software such as "Wing"), deselect it.

    6. launch the application 'Setting up Audio and MIDI' by entering the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search and by selecting it in the results (it should be at the top). Select output integrated in the list on the left. If the mute boxes are checked, then.

    7. If a red light is visible in the port of audio when its must play, the internal switch is stuck in the position of the digital display. You may be able to release it by inserting and removing of a mini stereo plug of adequate size. If this is not the case, the machine needs to be repaired. Insert any kind of tool in the port can cause damage that is not covered by the warranty.

If there is no red light, the switch can always be locked in the position of the helmet. Try to clear the same way.

8 disconnect all devices wired except the keyboard and mouse, as appropriate. If more than one display is connected, unplug all the extra zeros. Restart and test.

    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn Bluetooth off and restart.

10 start in safe mode. Do not open a session; Just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure that the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and the sound does not work.

    11. reset the NVRAM.

    12. Reset the SMC.

  • No sound output on iMac

My iMac has ceased to be able to output sound.  There is no case that I can trace it.

  • Sound constantly endangered on iMac

I have an iMac when the sound came through a set of monitors Personus through an audio interface Focusrite.

Everything worked perfectly since I installed for more than a year, but now I have a problem where the sound disappears across the system. So, if she's playing a melody via iTunes or play through Amplitube guitar sound just will. To remedy, I have to restart each time the iMac which is a pain closes I have currently open applications.

I googled similar questions on the forum and google and I can not find a specific resolution for playing audio through external speakers.

Any comments as to how to solve this persistent bug?

I should advise that the sound does not disappear while I actively use the iMac, it will only ever if I wake up from sleep mode.

    See you soon

    Try this:

    • Disconnect 'Personus monitors via an audio interface Focusrite.
    • Ensure that the sound from the built-in speakers
    • Allow the iMac sleep
    • Wake up the iMac... is sound?

If this problem is eliminated by using the speakers integrated, you know it has something to do with the "Personus monitors via an audio interface Focusrite" do not reactivate after your iMac sleep.

What are the options I have to 'in' sound on a new iMac?

Almost all recent Macs I've seen have a Line In port which can either accept a stereo 3.5 mm to RCA, stereo input analog line or a Mini-TosLink digital connection for S/PDIF (2 channels).  If you need more audio input or need to enter that is not as intensive machine - you will need to invest in an audio interface.
