Also (in the spirit of BOGOF - buy one get one free), it's annoying that my startup to open Safari, it starts but does not show a window - I always click on the Safari icon in the Dock. This started to happen with Yosemite, I think; until a window appears automatically. I presume that it does not show because "Hide Safari" is an inalterable permanent choice in the Safari drop-down menu, but why is this so when no other application has this selected permanently?

Don't know about the first part, but for Safari, try going to system preferences/general and uncheck the narrow windows when you exit an application.

  • Tecra M2: sound system stops working after a while

    Hello

I used my TECRA M2 a year without serious problems. A moth started it my problems with audio - after the start (no matter if via boot or wake up from hibernation) his (speakers) system is functioning normally. After a while (several tens of minutes, hours) sound system stops working (no sound from your speakers or headphones). No errors appear, but not sound. When you try to adjust the volume via the Windows icon on the bar the task CPU usage becomes very high.

I decided to reinstall my M2 - the first attempt was clean install of WinXP SP2 standard support - sound problem has not changed. Today I decided to restore the system recovery CD, but the result is the same :-(

Any idea? -I suppose that problem Council... Now, I made a mistake when entering - beeps system (such a beep as during startup) - interesting :-/

Except sound problem - another strange thing - when I send my XP to restart in about 10% of the attempts he goes off and does not start. Starts normally after pressing power button...

Any ideas would be much appreciated

  • Windows sounds play do not.

I'm running a Windows ME OS and it is all nice and all until yesterday. I'm sure that all my drivers are correctly installed and properly configured devices. The strange thing is, multimedia files such as .mp3 or .avi files play without any problem. But the streaming of YouTube videos does not give me sound and Visual. Windows sounds disappeared also that IE - no sound when opening the file, Pinball is not any audio, from windows no sound even if a file has been selected as the startup sound.

Any ideas as to why it happened?

    Hello

Given that Windows Me is a one off sale product, Microsoft does not support Windows ME, and Microsoft does not guarantee the changes made to the system.

However, you can try to run the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the system and check if the problem is resolved.

  • Dell XPS L702x and 5.1 sound system?

Hello, I posted this thread just to make sure that my dell xps l702x will be work perfectly with 5.1 sound system, I heard that it works and I need to buy a card, external - that true?

I will be grateful if you could post information how to properly connect the 5.1 System.

    Best regards, Martin.

Hello. many owners of XPS L502x and a L702x reported that 5.1 works. You must use the Realtek, no native audio driver audio driver in Windows...

    1. connect the speakers together following the scheme of the instructions of the manufacturer, but do not connect to the laptop yet.

    2. on the laptop, click Start > Control Panel > Realtek HD Audio Manager > Speaker/headset > speaker configuration. See the screen capture below.

    3. in the drop-down list of "Configuration" box - the box with the arrow pointing down - click on the arrow and select '5.1 Speaker. "

    4. connect the 5.1 system speakers to the laptop using regular stereo cables with a plug (3.5 mm plug) mini-phone at each end.

    a. connect the rear speakers to the jack to the microphone of the laptop.

    b. connect the speaker of Center/sup on the left headphone jack.

    c. connect the front speakers to the right headphone jack.

    5. turn on the speakers.

    6. on the laptop, click on the 'Audio Test '.  If the sound does not have the correct speakers, re - organize the cables.

  • How to turn off all Windows sounds?

I would like to work in a quiet environment.  So I would like to turn off all Windows sounds without going through each of them via Control Panel-> Sound and defining each and every one of them (no).  I don't want to rely on turn off the speakers I could forget often because I do not use the speakers every now and then to use practice.

If you want to silence your system completely, you can simply click on the volume icon and then select Mute.

Now, if you want only to silence the sounds of Windows, open the Control Panel (large or small icons) and select audio, select the sounds tab. Under his regime to No. soundschange, at the bottom click on apply then OK.
