    Hi all

Ive just bought a 2nd pavilion laptop in hand I can't reformat. My problem is the arrow keys of the keyboard, to the top to the bottom and right don't work only the arrow to the left. Someone else changed the boot order so I can't return it back to boot from the cd rom without arrows. As I am here in Australia I don't have access to the new keyboards. Can give you any advice. thnx in advance.

    Hello

One option would be to temporarily connect a keyboard external usb.

In addition, if you are trying to boot from an installation disc, I could do this via the Boot Manager menu, rather than set the boot priority in the bios menu because it is often ignored - you can do the following.

Insert the installation disc and the laptop shutdown .

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to select the option of CDROM and press ENTER - if you are prompted to "Press any key to continue...". "- make.

    Kind regards

  • Using SetConfig.vbs on T500\T510\T520 change boot order?

Everyone on a T500\t510\T520 BIOS boot order successfully changed using the (SetConfig.vbs) utility of Lenovo WMI Bios?  Whenever I try to change the bios boot order by using this utility, I get the error, "invalid parameter."

Parameter variables are: SetConfig.vbs [Setting] [value]

I changed other settings successfully, but I can get it to work.

    Current BOOTORDER by using "ListAll.vbs".

    BootOrder = HDD0:USBFDD:ATAPICD0:USBCDCILAN:USBHDD:HDD1

    Command I use on a T500 is: SetConfig.vbs BOOTORDER USBFDD:HDD0:ATAPICD0:USBCDCILAN:USBHDD:HDD1

I'm just this test of an operating system running to possibly use in SCCM OSD task sequence.

    There is no BIOS password.

Any ideas?  I get the same error on all 3 models listed above and I'm using the latest version of the WMI utility.

    Thank you

Correct command is BootOrder and not BOOTORDER.

    Solved.

  • Change boot order

    Hello everyone.

My first time on this forum.  If all goes well, I'm compatible with its label.  Please correct if I'm not.

I'm trying to boot from an external hard drive (Seagate).  This drive has a LInux distro.  I use a HP-ProBook-4525 s with Windows 7 above.  For some reason, I am unable to access the Advanced page of the BIOS settings.  Therefore, I am unable to change the boot order.  I can't find this page in the development of POSITIONS.  I hit 'esc' and then use key F10 to access BIOS settup.  However, there is no window that I could find which allows me to change the order.

I would appreciate help on this.

    Thank you

    Mark Allyn

    Hello again,

Well, it turns out that I could fix it myself.  I did not understand how to interpret the BIOS window.  I finally understood what 'Legacy Boot Options' (or words to that effect) meant that I went to the page of the Bios settings.  The entries of the order appear if it highlights the grayed out "Legacy" entry.

    Sorry to waste people time.

But I took the time to update my BIOS, and so there's some good that came out.

    See you soon,.

  • Change boot order in esxi 5.1

Hi, I use successfully the following code to change the boot order as described in the 1707558 message () Re: change with PowerCLI boot order

Unfortunaly, it does not work in esxi 5.1, the powercli returns without error, but does not update the boot order. I have try the hard drive, cdrom and I have the same symptom.

    Hello, thierry_ma-

Here, it is another way.  We wrote on this topic to vNugglets.com some time in the post of the change via PowerShell VM boot order .  I just checked that this method always works against a v5.1 environment.  You might have a look at this post.

And, as noted at the bottom of this post, the virtual computer startup order in this way script setting seems to make such that that particular boot order VM may only be changed be script later.  So something to consider.

In any case - how does do for you?

  • With PowerCLI change boot order

    Hello

I have a project in which I need to force the vm to restart on the CD player.

Is it possible to change the order of boot with power CLI?

If not, is there a way I can do?

    Thank you

I don't think you'd be able to do in PowerCLI.

If you do a lot of the simpler guests would be to change the order of boot on a guest.  From there if you copy the file .nvram from the browser to store data to the other guests this should work.

Do not think that it is supported, but it works.

  • 5.3 recompose question - HD change boot order

I recently inherited a VMware View 5.3 environment and I have a problem when I recompose systems.  Can I deploy a new virtual machine from a recent snapshot, but whenever I have to recompose computers startup changes of office the HD in the BIOS and the system will not start until I have manually change the order.   I tried to reconstruct the system to the previous snapshot and had the same problem.  Thoughts?

I was tor able to solve the problem by removing the CD-ROM drive in the image of the mother and adding it back in.  He seems to have been a problem with an upgrade of virtual hardware that was made some time ago, but was never cleaned.   Once I added the new CDROM drive I took a new snapshot.  I had to remove workstations and reconstructed them with this new snapshot.  Once they have been rebuilt, I could recompose without any problem.

  • iTunes game to change the order of my selections in the subfolders

I am running iTunes 12.3.2.35 on my laptop Win10. I have iTunes game to keep the air in sync with another laptop.

Recently, when I open iTunes on my laptop, playlists in all folders appear in alphabetical order, which suits me very well. However, when the program connects to iCloud he proceeds to scramble the order of selections of files, which is an obstacle for me. Is there a way I can get them all listed alphabetically while remaining connected with iCloud?

    Thank you

No, seems to be a bug in the current generation.

    Hello

Rather than change the boot priority in the bios menu, (HP portable computers often ignore this anyway), try the following method to boot from the CD.

While the computer running, insert the CD, and then click stop the laptop.

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to select the option of CDROM and press ENTER - if you are prompted to "Press any key to continue...". "- make.

I connected an external keyboard, active Legacy boot.

    F2 is BIOS

    F12 is the Start Menu.

    Help, please

    Hello

    Thank you for your response.

I assume you mean operating system based on GNU/Linux. In this case, the situation is somewhat different.

Well, as you know that we live in a world based on Windows (when it comes to personal computers) and most computers are designed with Microsoft and Windows in mind. That is why we (the users of Linux - I also use the operating system based on Linux on my home computer) may encounter some obstacles.

I don't have any experience with your computer model but I did some research and I found a few articles - their steps can help make you default GRUB a (not OS boot loader). As you probably know, GRUB is loaded by default booting of Linux (Ubuntu), and if it's by default you will be able to control with it, what boots first and she will control the OS boot/choice/etc...  :

    Hello:

You should be able to get the DVD player to start by starting the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to start the start time menu.

Select the DVD drive and you should be able to boot from the CD/DVD of windows.

  • Elite 8000 LTS: can ' t get into the BIOS to change the boot order

I want to change the boot order to allow booting from the ISO disks.

Keyboard F10 doesn't bring up the BIOS screen, and the machine starts just in Win7.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

What works is by exchanging the mouse and keyboard usb for mouse and existing keyboars.

Looks like that the installation of Win 7 bothered recognition of USB designs.
