When you try to update Windows XP, I get the message: error number: 0 x 80245001

    Hello

If you have configured the installation of the automatic update of your computer, the computer downloads the files necessary for the installation of Windows updates in the background and records them in certain folders on your computer. During installation, these downloaded files are extracted by the requirement by the services of update running on the computer.

The error you are getting means that some of these extracted files required by Windows Update have been damaged. Now, in order to solve the problem better, we need more information about the computer that has the problem. José asked a few questions about this computer in the first reply to your message, it will be very useful if you could answer these questions.

Here is some important information that we need:

    1. What is the level of service pack installed on your computer?
(Click the Start button, click run, type winver, and press Enter to know that information)

    2. what update failed to install with this particular error code?
(Please refer to the method 1: search for the installation error code in the Windows Update troubleshooting tool section of this article to learn how to check your update history to find this information)

In the meantime, you can follow these steps on the computer and see if that helps:

Note: These steps will give the files associated with Windows Update in your computer. Perform these steps would be clear Windows Update history on the computer.

    1. click on Start, click run , and then type Services.msc in the run box and press ENTER. This should open the windows of Services for you.

    2. then find the following three services in the list of Services and stop them (by clicking on it and click on stop) one by one:

    Automatic update service

    (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Cryptographic services

    3. open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following location:

    C:\Windows\

Rename the folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution in SoftwareDistribution.old

    4. go to the following location:

    C:\Windows\System32\

Rename the Catroot2 in Catroot2.old folder

(be careful here, do not rename the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder, you must rename the Catroot2 folder only)

    5. now go back to the Services window and start the services of three you had stopped earlier.

Now, close all open windows, restart the computer and try updates and install them. If it fails again, please answer with the information that we requested.

I hope that the information I provide here helps you. If you still need assistance, we know. We are happy to be of assistance.

  • Error message when you try to update Windows Vista - error attest 80070641 / 641

I guess that many people have had this problem, all of a sudden.

When you try to do updates on May 9, 2012, there were several updates available for me (23 in total).  I have windows updated put in place to notify me when updates are available (always have it) so I can see what will be installed (and not installed) on my machine.  He 11 successfully installed the updates and 12 in vain.  I try whenever I turn on my computer to update the 12 failed and failed in each attempt.

For the record, I tried several remedies posted on this forum nothing is done.

Attach it to the tool = failure
    System File Check = failure
Update system = failure analysis tool
    Windows Update Agent = failure
Stop the service (wuauserv), empty folder to update windows (C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download) files = failure
Tried to install the other updates separate security updates = failure
Tried to install other updates separate updates security = failure
    Other suggestions = failure

I just do a fresh install of Vista 32 bit (with service pack 2) on a SSD to return the 15/03/2012. I update my registry every 2 to 3 weeks.  The last program that I've updated was Adobe's Flash plugin on 04/05/2012.  Before that, it was an update to AnyDVD is 30/04/2012.  The last program that I installed was a kit of expansion for the Sims 3 on 19/04/2012.

This problem just happened out of the blue.  Never had any problems with updates like this before until 09/05/2012.

Here's some of my windows update log file. Looks like I only selected 4 security updates and 8 others are not selected on the left.

    Other things to check.
. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan mode without failure. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE, then click on run as administrator. Then from the command prompt, type sfc/scannow.
    -
Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

  • Error when you try to update Windows 7 64 bit - code error 0x8000FFFF

Been upgraded Windows 7 very well since the purchase, but in the last few days I've met the above error code. I ran through most of the potential solutions (check the registry keys, checking the services running, disable AV software, rename the folder to download etc.), but nothing seems to help. Currently, I'm stuck with Windows 7 could not update from this point.

    HI -.

Running "Run the Fix It" in aggressive mode seems to have done the trick. One thing to note - I also disabled Acronis True Image Backup Nonstop, who had run up to this point. If this makes a difference or not, I'm not sure. Whatever it is, the updates seem to work fine now.

    Thank you very much

It's very interesting as the How to reset the Windows Update components? page specifically mentions that it is not expected for Windows 7 when I visit with my Windows 7 system:

    Advanced System

This article applies to a different version of Windows than the one you are using. Content of this article is not relevant to you. Visit the Windows 7 Solution Center

And, applies to , at the bottom of the page, do not include Windows 7.

I have the feeling that the information on this page is incorrect according to the directives of Windows 7, which is not surprising.
That said, it seems that Acronis was the culprit that caused the problem to update.

A Acronis True Image Backup Nonstop running during the previous update was successful?

  • When you try to update windows, I get error Msg. Web site has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Error # OXC800042D do - what do I do now?

I am running Windows XP Pro 32 bit.  I get a planned update early in the morning, but after reading an article in update of virus, I thought I would check out the updates, which I didn't.  Above, is what happened when I tried to check it ME late.  Help & information will be appreciated & is all I really need to worry?

    Hello

. Have you done any recently changed on the computer before this problem?

You can see the steps listed in the article below and check if you are able to run the Windows updates successfully.

Temporary connection related errors may occur when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/836941

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    I hope this helps.
