  Woo Hoo!  Had the same problem and stumbled upon the solution.   You MUST open the Panel configuration... then the customization of your monitor.  Once there, select "Window color and appearance."  You then set your color scheme to "Windows Vista Basic"... and waala!  Your sidebar is back to transparent.

  Recently (stupidly) just clicked on an image in ebay & selected copy the location of the link so as not to lose my search.  After you have copied on the desktop there is no URL link, and all the icon names are now in white on a blue background.   I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll certainly try and help you in the matter of fixing.

  To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

  1. don't icons open programs correct?

  2. you have any antivirus installed on the computer program?

  You can try the steps and check if it helps.

  1 Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance tab / button settings and tick: shadows fall to use the desktop icon labels.

  Also, try the steps and check.

  No guarantees. Some suggetions. Please try the order that they appear. Check the office after each suggestion.

  1. run a full scan to make sure that the machine is clean.

  2. the word 'suddenly' suggests this is a recent problem.
  Please do a system restore. Choose a date on which the Office was normal as your restore point.

  3. restore explorer.exe
  Press CTRL + Alt + keys Delelete > click Task Manager > at the top, click Procesess tab, right-click on explorer.exe > click on end process > click Applications tab > click New task... > in the Open box, type explorer.exe > Ok

  My app had circles back on OS6 devices but now the backgrounds are white on OS7 devices.  In addition, some of my background images don't seem to be or since it of black background images for the buttons, perhaps they are responsible but appear as white.   Has someone else saw something like this in OS7 devices and in the Simulator (it appears like that for me in both).   It has not provided a version of our app yet OS7 but the app store is letting people download to their devices OS7.

  I added a black background for layout managers and now the problem is solved on OS7, of course this was not required in previous versions.

• Why the predictive text is now white on pale blue, thus making it unreadable?

  When you use find predictive text on my homepage to google i changed white on pale blue background. This makes it unreadable. I just tried setting upward a page of google on IE i and the text is black on white and easily readable.
  This happened only recently (in the last day or almost).

  You can try like theme different Windows or another theme of Firefox to see if that helps.

  • Control Panel > personalization > Theme & window color and appearance

  My screen went WHITE with big letters proclaiming "Active desktop recovery."      All my icons are still there and work very well.   But when I try to click on restore Active Desktop button, nothing happens and there is a white screen with all the instructions, etc.  I tried everything, including the 'Display' Panel and tried setting to the top of my new wallpaper, but no luck.  I restarted the system several times, and when it loads the white screen is still there.   Note: When I go to view, context parameters are NOT operational.  The cursor won't move.   It will allow me to set the color, but nothing makes a change.     Everything works fine, but I can't seem to get rid of white screen and the words "ACTIVE DESKTOP RECOVERY more phrases sub on how to cure it... have nothing to this problem."   Thank you, BobnKathyS.   For the purpose of the email, I prefer to use the following: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

  -right click on the desktop > properties.

  -Select the Desktop tab

  -Customize Desktop button

  -Select the Web tab

  -Remove all the other current office links except for the "My homepage" link, so all the other links are listed (checkbox, then the button Delete)

  This step is the clincher:

  -Turn it off "my checkbox on the current home page.

  -Click on apply

  -Click OK

  Office should return to normal.

• Photoshop is now white and does not have the normal start screen

  A few days ago, I was working on Photoshop CC as usual and it closed after completing an action list to automatically apply a custom filter. Later that day, only a few hours later, I opened it upward, a dialog box pops up saying something about a file is missing and that certain aspects will not work without said folder. Then he opened with a white Photoshop look completely different with no presets full boot screens and such. Any ideas what's past? I uninstalled and reinstalled but it does not solve the problem.

• Sidebar Gadgets corrupted and is no longer functional

  I have Windows Vista and I had a virus (yesterday 11/27/2010) cleaned up my computer.  Now my sidebar gadgets are no longer works. My clock is a black circle and the rest are little white helpful (I had notes post-it with important information on them).

  The following did NOT work.

  I typed in the command line;
  Regsvr32 atl.dll
  Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\sbdrop.dll".
  Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\wlsrvc.dll".
  It did NOT work.

  Then I tried "Fix - it" - which did not work.
   
  Then I typed in the command prompt.
  SFC \scannow - and got the following response.
  "Windows resource protection found currupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are provided in convertible bonds. Connect to windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. »
   
  I have followed this path and CBS.log wasn't there.
  In the sidebar properties, maintenance, my post-it is still running.
   
  Now what should I do?  Help!
   
  PS. I'm good at following directions but I have NO IDEA as to what I'm doing.

  Mozilla crashed and now my sidebar is empty with the exception of three entries that show a box and (untitled). When I select bookmarks in the bookmarks menu are there. I tried to import bot Bookmarks Sidebar is always empty

  I don't know if this will help, but I found a KB on the recovery of bookmarks.

• The sidebar of chase will not close.

  I had used a bookmark to open the chase Web site but its opening in a sidebar. It doesn't have an X to close. And when I run Firefox there now the sidebar of hunting upward. I tried to make it as an article that I found that matched my problem. But the two proposals has not worked for me. I made the cancellation of the launch in the sidebar under the bookmarks and even deleted the bookmark, but it still doesn't work. I tried the alt and f10 but nothing came to me to do something with. It is very annoying to have a small piece of a box that won't clog.

  Try to open the history (Ctrl + H) or Favorites (Ctrl + B) in the sidebar and that power switch using the shortcut twice.

  Anyone have any ideas why my printer PSC 2110 sees white yellow, when the copy and scanning? For example, when a copy of a white paper with black text and color, white background yellow comes out if I choose the color copy. I did a full reset, but it does not solve the problem. Is my only option to buy new. ? =(

  Well, it was unblugged several days (Don't now, how long it should) and a full reset again, just to make sure (don't know if that makes a difference), but now it works normally. White is now white and not yellow. Thank you.

  I deleted the McAfee that came with my computer and installed MS Security Essentials.  Now the sidebar calendar is there but empty, no date, no writing, period.  Someone at - it ideas?

  I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall gadgets follow the steps below and check if the problem persists:

  Uninstall the gadget, follow these steps:

  a. Click Start, go to Control Panel, programs, and click Windows features on or off switch.

  b. in the Windows features, uncheck the box Platform Gadget Windows and click OK to launch the uninstaller.

  Step b:

  Restore the Desktop Gadget Gallery back using the mentioned below as follows:

  a. open the properties of the Windows Sidebar by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel configuration, on appearance and personalization, and then click Windows Sidebar Properties.

  b. click on Restore gadgets installed with Windows.

• Why my sidebar does not work?

  Recently my sidebar on my Vista Ultimate x 64 Edition acted crazy.  The gadgets wouldn't stay where I put them, I did a virus scan and now, the sidebar comes up, but when I left-click on it, it says that the sidebar does not and gives me the option to restart, which I tried, then after a while, it gives me the option of waiting for the sidebar answer or close the sidebar , and I'm not very familiar with the sidebar...  I am quite computer savvy and can do more things with Vista and Win7, but it left me speechless...  Any help you guys can give me to help with this problem would be greatly appreciated...  Thanks for your time and your help and I look forward to your reply...
