NSA 2400 bandwidth management

We are currently using bandwidth management and we have a few rules for BWM.  Just, we have improved our pipe.  My question is can I go to the WAN interface and change the input/output of the new limit and the rules I have (most are one percent) will be adjusted accordingly?  Also is there any failure by changing the entry/exit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

If your rules are percentage then adjusting interface WAN is all that should be necessary. It will not have any what failures nor does not require a reboot.

  • Configure the network adapter speed / bandwidth management

    Hi all

In VMware ESX 4, it is possible to configure the speed of vmnic with a speed of diferent? I can do 10, 100, 1000 or full / half-duplex (photos attached) but... is possible to configure the speed of 4 MB, 40 MB or something different?

For bandwidth management, the best solution is the new Cisco device?

    Thank you very much.

N ° negotiated between the physical NETWORK adapter and the physical switchport speed can be 10/100/1000. Just like in the physical world...

But you can do some of the traffic shaping based on your configuration... On a vSwitch standard you can control the evacuation traffic. On a distributed vSwitch, you control evacuation AND penetration.

  • I need help, bandwidth management

To our offices there are two that IT guys me and Jay. I use a desktop PC and Jay use a laptop. We have a T3 line connected to a Linksys WRV210, which is updated to the latest firmware and a small staff with about 8 total workstations. I started noticing that I had problems downloading files from the internet. It would take sometimes 30 minutes to download a driver of 5 MB file. Come back after lunch that the same file would download in 3 minutes. Also during certain times of the day, I could do a bandwidth test and it can appear at the top and then later it would be slower than dial-up.

A common event, that I started collecting was the absence of Jay. When he would leave the office (and usually take his laptop with him). The internet was very good. However, almost immediately after his internet return would come to a crawl. I asked him if he downloads nothing thinking maybe that was the issue. Of course, he said that it was not and that the internet was going well on his computer.

Then one day when I walked by his Office I saw Limewire on his computer (a file sharing program). I'm sure that now that it's the source of our problem of bandwidth. I want to be able to block or to allocate at least how much bandwidth gets used for things such as file-sharing programs. The hardest part is we are not a matter of level business and therefore cannot afford to devices which cost thousands of dollars. Add in the fact that file-sharing programs are known to be difficult to manage without talking to stop. Can someone please recommend a way to control or prevent Jay kill our bandwidth? Keep in mind that it is not the average user and is a very clever technique. I wish I had a way to slow down its file-sharing rather than blocking all together, but if this is the best option, so that's ok also.

  • ISA 550 of bandwidth management utility.

I wanted to know a method of automated or manual management of bandwidth for ISA 550 with firmware 1.2.x.x. I currently 30 knots on a 2mbps link and if a host starts to download others are left with very little or no bandwidth at all. Is there a way I can control this automatically or manually?

    (1) just to activate LAN QoS and WRR

    (2) take a look at your Security Configuration, it must be bound to no LAN and WAN. This probably indicates the errors between LAN and WLAN (in case of different areas).

  • Dual Wan router inaccessible RV042G after the configuration management of bandwidth

    Hello

I bought a router of RV042G a few days ago to manage 2 lines adsl at my home. Everything works fine except for one thing: I can't configure bandwidth management. When I go into the menu "Bandwidth management", "Type of bandwidth management" then I choose the frequency control or priority and I have a had a few rules to prioritize the http protocol, for example, then I click the button Save. After a few seconds of internet use I loss the router and internet connectivity and 192.168.1.1 became inaccessible Ping. I had to unplung the power cord to restart the router, the same problem persists until I have remove all the rules! A few times I even had to do a factory reset because my adsl modem is inaccessible behind the router (impossible to do a ping to the gateway).

What can I do? There is a known issue on this router and firmware? I have:

    Serial number: NKS16220141 Firmware version: v4.2.1.02 (January 18, 2012 14:10:55)
    VID PID: RV042G V01 The firmware MD5 checksum: a9817f2dbdcbd6a5c109eaa21b1c3545
    LAN Working mode: Entry door

    Thanks for your help.

Could Pascal you please make a backup configuration file.

Then I would you at the factory to reset the router then once he comes back to the top, login, make your internet work and try the management of bandwidth again without any other configuration. See if it has the same problem.

If not then this would imply some there is a configuration in conflict with the previous establishment or a software defect that has been corrected through the reset.

  • From bandwidth of endpoints

Is it possible to have all calls between a MCU and TCS use a bandwidth fixed (2 048 kbit/s), but for all calls with the MCU or TCS between other points of endpoints that are not these two devices will use a fixed bandwidth (768 Kbps).  We use of TMS and a VCS in our infrastructure.

    Examples:

    MCU <> TC - 2048 Kbps

    MCU <> end points - 768 Kbps

    TCS <> end points - 768 Kbps

Any help to make possible would be great!  Thank you.

Are you using a VCS? Then check for bandwidth management administrator's guide: links / pipes

Guess who would be the best place.

You can also have aliases of different record with different parameters of bandwidth on the TCS.

Default call pricing on the MCU + define the TCS as the 'End Point' with 2 Mbit/s on the MCU

and/or set a rate of default reminder on endpoints 768kbit/s or something like that.

But I'd go with links / tubes model

  • RV042G difference between the Strip protocol binding bandwidth <>- for the WAN ports

Can someone explain a little better then the manual what are the differences between the management of bandwidth on the WAN ports and protocol bindings?

If you specify in each section which protocol should go where, why have two places to set this up?

Or are there things to remember when you use one of them?

Protocol binding affects the leaves of outgoing traffic how a particular WAN interface.

With bandwidth management, you specify bandwidth across WAN, a service must be used.

  • We can stop a Download Manager Application?

So far, the Application Manager installed Photoshop and is 25% for InDesign, which is par for the course for the rural New Zealand after five hours of downloading.  Meanwhile, I have bugger all access to the internet to find information.  It was a doomed to total failure to actually seek the answer to this question for example.  So anyone know if I can break the Application Manager without losing a part of download, or limit its bandwidth allocation?  I had a round hunting in his preferences and found nothing useful.  As for the use of online help...    This will not happen with the severely limited the Application of the bandwidth manager left me.

No, you can not to pause the download of a creative cloud application.

You can cancel only after that, he must start over again.

  • Order of procedure SonicWALL for routing, NAT and policies

I'm confused on the prescription that the sonicwall verifies a package.  The way I heard the order, it will:

    (1) check against the access rules,

    (2) check against NAT Polies

    (3) check the routing.

    Installation program:

Subnet point of VPN endpoint - Internet - SW NSA 2400 (VPN) - sub-network B (from C subnet)

    A subnet is 10.1.100.x/24

Subnet B is consists of three IPs, 192.168.99.4,.50, and 109.

Subnet C is contains the host IPs 192.168.13.4,.50, and 109.

I VPN configured to allow traffic from 10.1.100.x to the hosts on the subnet B, what NAT and the host subnet C.  This method works more large, is not a problem.

I need to reduce access to certain ports.  Once I set access restrictions in the port, the firewall blocks ALL.

When I look at a screenshot of packets when traffic is blocked, I see the following:

    Source 10.1.100.5--> 192.168.99.4 accepted

    Source 10.1.100.5--> 192.168.13.4 refused.

Block of code indicates that it is because of politics.  However the policy review should have been checked and checked already.  If I change the VPN policy to represent both sides of the NAT (ie. 192.168.99.4 and 192.168.13.4) then passes the traffic.

If anyone can explain what is happening?

I tried to look through some KB SonicWall has publicly available articles. But I did not see anything that doesn't seem to help. In this case, I think you might want to give SonicWall support a call.

    https://support.software.Dell.com/manage-service-request

They can help to look over your configurations and see if we have to make changes. They should also be able to answer your technical questions about how the packets are received or managed.

  • RVS400, translation NAT period?

My RVS4000 is rejecting DNS _answers_ with "destination unreachable (port unreachable).

I finally managed to sniff packets on the side WAN and the response packets

Search OK.  They come from the same IP address and port number that the put RVS in the

    outgoing request packet.

This only happens when it is connected to an internet connection by satellite.  It works fine with my

old connection cable.  My only theory is now the RVS4000 expire the NAT rule

before the answer comes back.  Total response time is running around 1.3 seconds, are due,

without a doubt, high latency of satellite link.

I tried to change the installer-> WAN_ > MTU to manually put up and down speeds

under the QoS-> bandwidth management, nothing helps.  Those who have been the only parameters that I could find

which seemed to have anything remotely to do with this problem.  I've updated the firmware

to 1.3.0.3, but the problem is the same before and after.

Any help on how to do keep explanations more long or other NAT rules would be

    greatly appreciated.

I had already tried, without success.  I ended up buying a different router

(Netgear RP614v4, is what they had in the retail store), who sets the

problem.  Surely, this must be a known problem with satellite internet.

  • Cannot save a NSA2400?

    Hey all,.

I already have a NSA2400, who is still on the old old firmware, 5.5.1.0 - 5o
don't have always updated the firmware, as did not want, but with a new VOIP solution (Mitel) coming, it makes me think that the latest firmware will be required for a SIP of the router data throughput to the controller of Mitel via the firewall.

so, I bought a 2nd hand old NSA 2400 for me to play with and given the unit is on the same firmware, thought that I would start by upgrading the firmware to the latest version to ensure that the unit upgrade and not BRICK, etc...

However, the unit must be saved before I can do anything, and try to save the device online told me 'it's already registered

Is this a case of email the guys at Dell to say I want to join a NSA2400 I just bought? and they check it systems to show that the previous owner never used subscription services, etc.?
or is it better to refer to home of computer game' I just bought on eBay?

I could get the seller to see that they know who registered or if they have registered.

If you can't find who registered the device is a simple matter to transfer to your account.

If you go through SonicWALL support, you must send the photos of the aircraft with the serial number, etc. to prove to you the configuration files have and the device.

  • SSID broadcast

Want a couple of opinions on the broadcast of the SSID or not. We have 200 series 1200 ap on a University campus and currently distributed only in a few areas (5%) on campus we also have cisco WLSE to manage.

In my humble OPINION, not broadcasting the SSID is security the same way that wrap you in aluminum foil you made the bulletproof. (It is not / is not, believe me).

A large part of the decision boils down to bandwidth management.

For example, do not broadcast your SSID, anyone using MS Windows Zero Config Wireless will have connection problems... ZWC always will prefer a SSID broadcast, often even if you have the client 'hard-coded' to associate with a specific SSID. Expect phone calls.

Or the other decision, I hope that you have some solid backend authentication and authorization.

It is essentially you have something other people want to (bandwidth, potentially free band). If you're lucky, people will * only * steal bandwidth.

In the past, I think you will find that 'only' bandwidth theft is not enough, you will get some hotshot King or kiddie-script, or spammer, porn that will do malicious things in and on your network (if you are broadcasting your SSID or not.. Word bypass).

Convenience for users and reduce the ' my laptop does not connect to your wireless system (it tries to connect to rogue AP from some students or other hotspot) calls. "

Also keep them my mind is that if you don't broadcast your SSID, unlike someone else (malicious) (advertise * your * SSID)... they can usurp the user and capture traffic... or at least it makes it much easier to perform a man-in-the-middle attack (do a search for "ettercap").

Advertise your SSID and have a good system of auth/auth on the back-end. Everything in the newspaper and be vigilant. Have a plan (and a strong policy) to deal with attackers and did not hesitate to run it.

It is worth a few days of discussion, around this topic and a variety of opinions each valid in a given context. You must weigh the consumers against the administration, against the risk, compared to the budget... and a dozen other variables.

(In general), there is no single best answer for most scenarios.

That's why a good designer / architect system pulls down the fortunes and worth ever penny.

    Good luck

    Scott
