num lock 17 t-J100

I have a new TouchSmart from HP ENVY 17 t-J100.

I don't see a NumLock on or seeing off.

Prior computer keyboards have had such light.

Is there one, or are we to see if the num lock feature is enabled or disabled by trial and error?

goodhayman,

Yes, it seems that the newer models have fallen by using light Verr Num and it appears at this time that no measures were taken to restore the Num Lock light.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Take care and have a great day!

I was wondering if anyone here has been able to set a L50t-A-145 running Win 8.1 to start with NumLock on the default start state.

To be honest I don t understand what you try to do
The Num Lock isn't associated with all the BIOS settings.
The Num Lock key is on the right in 10-digit keypad and press on this button will allow to disable NumLock

  • Want to m6 - on keyboard num lock button

M6 - envy I can't tell when the num lock key is on when I use the keyboard on the right side. This creates a problem when you type the number of password and I need to stop and remember to use the keys on the top. How will I know if it's on or not? Nothing (no lights on the cover lock) lights up. Nothing in the taskbar or the other.

    Thank you

    Hello Cageycat,

You have a problem don't know not if your key for the nun is activated.

Go to HP.com and update the keyboard driver when it exists and also in the BIOS.

Here is a link to updates. You will need your product number.

You can also go to ease of access and change the settings of toggle keys.

    • Go to start of easy access type and press on enter

    • Scroll and click on create the keyboard easier to use

    • Check the turn ToggleKeys on.

This will give you a sound when the keys are on.

I would like to know how everything goes.

    Hello

These issues in the past have been resolved with BIOS update. I therefore recommend as a first step of the BIOS update.
Check the current version on your laptop and the most recent proposed on the Toshiba download page.

To be honest I don't understand why you waited so long on this subject. Laptop warranty valid and the nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer can help you about this.

    Hello paulwayne317,

You shouldn't need to disable the power management software, but simply adjust to where it is not longer Hibernate.  Take a look at this document, which should help.

Please let me know if it works.

Number pad and num lock on my P500 PSPE8A-01R002 does not work after the upgrade to Windows 7.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi AndrewF,

Have you noticed the same problem on a preinstalled OS from Toshiba?
As far as I know Satellite P500 are always delivered with Windows 7 OS provided with your P500?

Anyway, in your case I would try updating the BIOS. You can get the latest version on the Toshiba site.

  • Connection num lock problem

    Here's my problem:

I am running Windows XP on triple boot with Ubuntu and Backtrack. Caps lock Num Windows turns on whenever I start. Lock num on my computer is physically damaged (even if this is not the reason why turn on num lock), which means that I can not connect.

I use Ubuntu right now. Since Ubuntu has the ability to open and modify Windows .exe, I open regedt32.exe and modified HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard "InitialKeyboardIndicators" = "1".
I also modified HKEY_USERS, yet my registry did not have a "Control Panel" button, so I created myself: HKEY_USERS\. Default\Control Panel\Keyboard "InitialKeyboardIndicators" = "1".

I also tried another method that was to create a file called "numlock.vbs" and write the following:

    Set WshShell = CreateObject ("WScript.Shell")
    WshShell.SendKeys "{NUMLOCK}".

And paste the file in All Users\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Démarrage. Nothing has worked so far.

In accordance with the following article, the values only legal "InitialKeyboardIndicators" is 0 (off) or 2 (market).

  • Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO: How do I change turn on the num lock (NumLock) key have a State by default to it?

How do I change turn the num lock (NumLock) key a Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO to have a State default one?

System BIOS has no setting for it. By another post, I tried to set the value of register in HKEY_USERS\. Default\Control Panel\Keyboard for "InitialKeyboardIndicators" of "2147483648" to "2147483650. It seems not to change after a reboot.

Yes, the BIOS settings was the first thing I checked. But BIOS seems to only contain States in order for the locks of keys on the new HP Pavilion or Envy laptop.

I did more research and found more credible sources to TechNet asking to change the same registry value to 2. I tried it and it works a fact/do.

  • Num-Lock is not on

I had an old PC running Windows XP Professional, which was slow and doesn't work as well as it used to. One of my friends suggested I reinstall Windows on the PC and see if that accelerates it. So I got out the old disc that came with the computer and reinstalled XP inside. (Yes, I installed it correctly). After a few days of use, I noticed that there was a slight glitch. Num-lock was not on at startup! Usually, when I have on my PC, num-lock is enabled by default, but now, I have to manually on it whenever I start!

Can someone tell me how to set num-lock to be on that by default?

This article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base has the answer: How to set the State of Numlock on connection in Windows XP .
