OAM loyalty & Performance in Captivate 9

Hello

I have an animation animate on board who makes good in a browser at its own initiative. However, when added to Captivate 9 it works the same. It lacks the features and more worrying still, tends to lock up the browser (ironically, as Flash used to do). The computer is an i5 with 16 GB of RAM, it is not that I don't have the card to manage even complex stuff HTML5.

Anyone experienced something similar or you know a work around?

In case anyone else comes across this, the answer can be found here: http://blog.gannon.tv/2014/01/03/how-to-include-third-party-libraries-in-oam-files/

OAM did not work well in Captivate because it lacked a Javascript that animate dashboard is not (for some strange reason) automatically package together with the rest of the files in your working directory (folder JS). Use WinRAR or equivalent to add manually to return in the missing JS and then add to Captivate.

  • The combination of several projects to Capture

    I'm a new user of Captivate 3, embark on my first project.

    I need to do a demonstration of software which will include multiple applications at different times on the desktop. The best way to proceed is, of course, is to record the entire desktop. However, I was worried about my ability to edit the project together that I thought. I really just want some raw images that I can move on, instead of getting the demo right the first time.

    My idea was to record each application on its own window and perform a particular function. I could then create an empty project; full screen for the reader flash in a web browser - 1014 x 713 (a non-standard size of office). I could then set the background color and add images on the start bar and a couple of icons; make it look realistic. Then I import my captured applications and position them where and when I want to.

    It works very well with full motion capture video but the standard image capture is part of the blade and if you change the slide background, you lose the image of the application. It does not record the image of the application as a separate object.

    Any ideas on how I should go about my project registration, all ensuring that I have the flexibility to make things a little more later?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hi Dominic and welcome to the forums of Captivate!

    Your idea of capturing each application separately is a good thing. Allows you to maintain each in its own file of project, which makes things easier and improves performance in Captivate. You also avoid to try to capture the entire desktop to a weird resolution.

    If it was me, I consider it must be able to show the Windows Desktop behind each application... with the exception of a few slides where you might want to show that there are many open applications, you'll probably find you want each application in order to be as large as possible to avoid scroll or needing items appearing partially off the screen.

    If you want to really have 'small' application on a common background windows, capture each application to the desired size, but when imported in your master project, copy each context 'captured' project and paste it into your master image project. What makes 'float' and to be mobile/updated separated from the background of the mask. Do a "background" on each image, and you should be golden.

    I also recommend to do some testing before committing to 1014 x 713, especially in browsers-Internet Explorer. Mode full screen can be problematic, and you can find that something like 1000 x 650, other than full screen works better.

  • HTML (file .oam) video does not work on mobile devices when publication of draft 9 Captivate

    Hello

    I have created a project of 9 Captivate and publish HTML5 so that it works on mobile devices. I would like to include a short video on one of my slides, so I imported a file .oam (that I exported to animate CC) in my Captivate project. I thought given that the video was an animation HTML that it would go very well on mobile devices, however when I run the project on an iPad a box indicating I have need flash player appears where the video should play. I thought the very idea of HTML that it can run without flash player, so run on mobile devices? Am I missing something obvious?

    Thank you!

    I think I only know why this process was not working for me. Although the file was published as a file .oam and built in CC host the file type I was exporting to was a .swf file and not a file HTML canvas. I have since built in CC animations animate HTML canvas files and they work very well in 9 Captivate.

  • You can stop a looping in 9 Captivate OAM?

    Greetings,

    I have a project in 9 Captivate that uses animations created in Adobe animate, through OAM import. They are very simple, more animations in a picture revealed by an animated mask.

    On the last picture of the project Animate, I inserted a "this.stop ()"; action. In my export settings, I deselected 'chronology of the loop.

    OAM imports fine and plays, but it loop forever. I find not a setting to 9 Captivate to stop a loop to occur.

    Someone has ideas how to stop the animation from a loop?

    Thank you.

    OK, I solved the problem.

    All I did was correct in Adobe animate. And things worked as it should in Captivate 9... a point. Even if I had updated the Adobe files animate OAM, I continued to see the old files in Captivate.

    The problem lies in 'Update library items' Captivate 9. With the files of the OAM, 'The library updated Elements' does not work. It does not update the items. The only way to update a file OAM in Captivate 9 is to remove it from the library and import it back.

    I'd say it is a bug and get a frustrating.

  • Control edge file animate OAM with the buttons play/pause of Captivate on the skin.

    Hello world

    I worked on a project where I mix a variety of objects and animations.  I do animations animate on board.  The problem I have is that when the user clicks the button pause on the Captivate playback controls, the oam file do not pause.  I found descriptions of how I can make an animation to play/pause the Captivate timeline button on board, but I can't find anything on the use of the Captivate pause button to control the Edge file animate.  Discussions only that I managed to find on that seem to be the answer.  Someone had a bit of luck with this question?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Randy

    OK, it's a bit hacky, but it works quite to control the main timeline object in a file of edge of Cape Town, where the Edge file has been imported to Cap 9 as a Web (oam) object. I went seeking answers same like you and came from vacuum, then start to tinker myself and came across the following method.

    Let's use window.postMessage to send a string between Cape document window and document edge iframe window then react accordingly. You can learn more about postMessage accepted battery answer here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3076414/ways-to-circumvent-the-same-origin-policy

    In your dashboard file click the support of Actions for the stage object in the timeline and select the compositionReady event. Paste this code into the text window:

    addEventListener for Chrome, attachEvent for IE

    window.addEventListener ('message', receivedFromCaptivate, false);

    window.attachEvent ('onmessage', receivedFromCaptivate);

    function receivedFromCaptivate (event) {}

    switch (event.data) {}

    case "play":

    SYM. Play();

    break;

    case "pause":

    SYM. Stop();

    break;

    }

    }

    Save the file and publish it as an oam, then import the OLS in a slide of Cap, as you normally would. Now, to put in place things of the CAP. Here is a visual aid for the rest of the explanation...

    In the PAC file select the control that you use to start playing the chronology of the edge (in the example above the "slide4Play"), select the checkbox 'Use as button' in the properties on the right, select the "Actions" tab, then to the drop-down list for 'Success' choose "Execute advanced Actions." Click the folder next to the selection of Script control and advanced Actions dialog box should appear. Name your action something (for example, "playEdgeSlide4"), then click the 'Add' in the grey bar to add a new action in the queue. In the drop down "Select Action"... ", choose"execute Javascript. "In the drop down menu"select the window... ". ", choose"current ". Then click on the 'Script_Window' button to bring up a window of text Javascript crap. In this window, you can paste this:

    try {}

    $("iframe") [0].contentWindow.postMessage ("play", "*");

    } catch (e) {}

    Console.log (e.message);

    }

    Select 'OK' to close the window of text Javascript crap, then click the 'Update Action' button to save your new action. Now let's do the same for break action - select the control that you use to pause, go through the steps above, the name of the action, implement advanced action in the same way and in the Javascript crap text window, paste the following text:

    try {}

    $("iframe") [0].contentWindow.postMessage ("break", "*");

    } catch (e) {}

    Console.log (e.message);

    }

    Cap incorporates the Edge file in an iframe on the page that has its own document window. In order to communicate between base ceiling windows and the iframe, we use the postMessage call. So when you hit your button Pause/Play in Cape Town, he publishes an event to the function that gets recorded in the iframe on board. And in the event.data is the string we send above the Cap base window in the function postMessage ('play' or 'pause'). We use a simple switch to react to the data string, stop or have fun with the main symbol of the scene at the edge (sym.play(1000) (), sym.stop ()).

    I hope this helps!

  • OAM in Captivate States files?

    My goal is to see 13 videos in a training course, hosted on our server running Moodle.

    Is it possible by using a "Text caption" State to import an OAM in this State. I placed an OAM file in a State of legend and published content. The click event has changed the State of the text field containing the subject of the OAM, it appears but does not play. The player controls should be added in the file of the OAM, who works?

    I tried to use web objects first in the 'States', but they seem unstable. They are intended to serve? I wanted to connect to my account of Viemo to reduce bandwidth. My videos to load in the State of the text, the Captivate player controls work properly but I can't find a way to keep the video to start when loading the html page. Can the java script to fix this?

    Forms and multimedia objects appear as available when you are working with the States, so my assumption is that they should work? Adobe helps me to discuss all of the features of the States and their objects, I could not find a thorough examination of these issues.

    Buttons unfortunately are not available in the States, unless I'm missing something?

    Captivate 9 is the first version that offers States of being for something other than a button.  It is still VERY new feature and has some "issues".

    I doubt if Adobe has considered to do some of the things you ask on (for example, the use of files OAM within States).

    My gut tells me that this feature has a long way to go before that can be considered "stable".

  • 7 - an animation trigger based on the events on an "Act of performance art" of Captivate

    Hi guys,.

    Get into the nitty gritty of Captivate now.  I have several situations where I advanced acts causing on the objects animation effects, but I hit the problem that seems to have no control over the timing of the effect (for example, I have a map of spinning I want to run faster).

    Now, normally if you have a click box (or button) which is only 'apply the effect' then you are able to go to the effects of the relevant object and replace the 'Animation' trigger ' (Self) time-based animation "to a new selection for example"button on the success"which allows to manipulate the timing of the effect. It doesn't seem to appear if the effect 'apply' is located in adanced action.

    Is it possible to get to the timing effect when using 'Perform advanced Actions'?

    See you soon.

    Did you hear sigh me? Indeed, when you apply effects through advanced actions it will be the default. This is the reason why I always recommend to create custom effects to apply. It's a heavy workflow, very well aware of this. I asked for this feature for effects appeared and could be applied by advanced actions (which was the CP5 if I remember correctly), but as long as many people ask for this kind of improvement, it will never do to the top of the list. The problem is that you can not have an 'absolute' duration of effect, they are always relative to the length of the object.

    Workaround solution:

    1. Create a custom effect (timed) with the appropriate length and take into account the duration of the object that is intended.
    2. Save this custom effect in th custom of the Gallery\Effects folder
    3. Apply once this effect customized (timed trigger) or it will not appear in the drop-down list of effects in the Advanced UI actions
    4. Then use this effect in action advanced statement and cross your fingers

  • Performance - Captivate 2 problems

    Since I installed Captivate 2, I've known severe performance on my laptop problem. A video captured with the first version of Captivate (approximately 75 slides), when opened in Captivate 2, limited my ability to changes. I can perform changes on the first 20 - or so slides... IE - resize highlight boxes, change in length of strike etc... After the slide 20' th, I can no longer make these changes. It's as if the system is at maximum. I am obliged to break the video into separate files, not more than 20 slides each to continue with the installation. At the end that I can copy and past these slides back into a single file for editing. Someone at - it experieince that? You can provide any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

    I solved this problem by upgrading to the RAM on my computer. Thank you for all your help.

  • Captivate 6 buttons go to the next slide instead of perform the selected action

    I have slides with one or more buttons on them. Success, they generally show or hide the any content or graphics. Sometimes, these buttons work correctly. Other times, when a button is clicked, the path forward to the next page. Any thoughts on what could cause this problem? I publish the course as SWF / HTML 5.

    Replace the simple action by a standard action to avoid releasing the read head. The behavior described in this blog, was valid for all versions up to 8 Captivate. Only to the CP9, it is now possible to stop the playhead to continue during the execution of a simple action:

    Why choose Standard Simple action? -Captivate Blog

    This position also has a link to a YouTube video showing the behavior in a real use case.

  • OAM dashboard does not load, but forms performance is very good, why is this?

    Hello
    Once I connect to our instance, OAM dashboard does not load. Continue to operate, but the forms, querying the db is excellent. How can I fix this problem? Why it is suspended?

    Concerning

    Naya,

    I would not not start troubleshooting the problem before bouncing the application services to it may do the trick. As you can see, we have not many details on the error in the log files, so it cannot help, and measures will be bouncing services and see if the problem is reproducible or not.

    For the operation of the list form session, I believe that the above-mentioned document should be useful.

  • "Jump" to a specific slide in adobe captivate with edge animate.

    I want to "jump" to a specific slide in adobe captivate using interactions created in a file hosted from edge. Is someone able to help me with the javascript code needed to do this?

    So I don't know what was going on in April which did not possible but now 9 Captivate at least you can below to communicate a slide jump in Cape Town from the edge.

    I have an Edge file with a unique symbol to this topic called edgeButton which is just a simple rectangle with text on the subject. On the click to edgeButton event, I added the following script:

    window.parent.postMessage ('2', ' * ');

    Where the '2' is the second slide in a Captivate project. Here's a visual aid on board for the game to the top:

    On the side of the course of things, I set up a simple empty project with two slides on it and have disabled the PlayBar. On the first slide, I imported the OAM Edge file from above and on the second slide are just a simple text caption so that you know you have arrived at this slide after clicking on the "Click me" button in the animation of embedded edge. Here is a visual aid for the CAP put in place:

    Notice that there is a progress of the Actions run on the onEnter of the master slide. This is what looks like this Action:

    First, we add a Pause action so that the project does not automatically. Then we add a Javascript action to perform on the window 'active'. The script in the window Javascript crap is:

    window.addEventListener ("message", slideJump);

    function slideJump (event) {}

    Console.log (Event.Data);

    window.cpAPIInterface.gotoSlide (event.data);

    }

    If you use IE, change the first line of window.attachEvent ("onmessage", slideJump);

    What we have done here is connect Edge (that Cap incorporates in an iframe) with Cap using the postMessage function that allows document windows communicate with each other. Since the Edge object is inside the DOM of the CAP, the script of edge must publish its message to its parent window, which is the Cap document window. Add the listener for the event message to Cap on its current context of window and after receiving the message that we call the function slideJump and suss out the string that was sent to the wire using event.data, which in this case will be "2."

    We record the value in the console

    Console.log (Event.Data);

    just for sanity check our channel, then pass the string to the common JS Cape API interface

    window.cpAPIInterface.gotoSlide (event.data);

    the Cap project going to slide #2.

    If you're curious, here's a Stack Overflow write to postMessage . Communication between edge and Cap can work in two ways via postMessage, btw. Here is an example where we do something similar, except that we control an animation of edge of assets to Captivate with postMessage.

    I know that this response is a few months late to the party, but if all goes well it helps or helps someone else who might be looking for a response to a similar problem.
