OBIEE in SQL Server

Hello

I am trying to learn how to use OBIEE 11 GR 1 material against SQL Server 2008R2 for reporting.

I'm following these instructions: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10539/c3_requrmnts.htm#BGBJAIDI

Just need to know what would be the process to start. I would create a schema (or the equivalent in SQL Server) in my Administration of BI?

I know RCU creates an Oracle and DB2 schema where you keep the views for reports (physical layer). Not sure if it works the same way in for posting a link to SQL Server.

Thanks for help.

  • OBIEE 10 G can connect to a SQL Server database (2005)?

We have Oracle BI already running. We also have a SQL Server database running. Now, there is requirement that requires to connect to SQL Server and directly send some books SQL on SQL Server and retrieve the result and display it in the answers. I know that the normal procedure should be set ETL to load data from the SQL Server in OBIEE and from there, the report can be built. So I'm not sure it's doable?

Do the same thing using the online mode. so that you can add a connection pool to the RPD, which is located within the BI server.

  • OBIEE retro-design to go from SQL Server to a data warehouse

    Hello
I am new to modeling for data warehouses. We currently have an OBIEE environment put in place where the source of data was the transactional tables in SQL Server. The SQL Server data should be moved to a warehouse of data non-Oracle and I need to produce a logical data model for the people of my company warehouse. Unfortunately, the SQL Server data is never copied, so I based the model from the logical and physical of OBIEE diagram/relationships.
My question is in what concerns the validity of the following relationships to be used in a data warehouse based on what is currently in OBIEE. When I have this model through Erwin, I wonder if I'm away from base in relationships (modeling, don't not personal):

    Dimension 1 has a 0:M with axis 2
    Dimension 1 has a 0:M with 3 Dimesion
    Dimension 2 has a 0:M with 3 Dimension
    Dimension 2 and 3 Dimension have a 0:M with 1 fact

Through the use of pseudonyms and others, this works in OBIEE. Will this work as a model of data in a data warehouse environment?

    Thank you!

I think that you started with the wrong foot. I suggest search you Google 'kimball methodology' and have a reading a few articles. Your DWH model should not be based on your transactional tables. You should ask your business users 'questions' they want to answer in the DWH. Then model your DWH base on it. You cannot model a DWH without knowing what questions you must answer. For example, if your users want to know the sales per day and per branch will be a fact of sales with a sales volume measure joining two dimension of branch and time dimensions. The number of facts will depend on the questions you need to answer, the data type, and the granularity of them.

  • BI Publisher cannot connect to SQL Server.

    Hello

We try to create a BI Publisher connection to the SQL Server database. However, we receive a message "could not establish a connection. We tried google to find a solution.

We don't know what the problem is. We can ping the SQL Server computer from the server of BI applications.

Apparently, it seems that the required JDBC driver files are missing. We use OBIEE version 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.6.0. How do we know if we have the right JDBC driver file? And also, where we must copy the JDBC driver/jar files to.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Maury.

Yes 'Database driver class' is 'hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver' is correct

and your connection string should like this "jdbc:hyperion:sqlserver://mysqlservername:1433; DatabaseName = master.

    username = his

    password = sa_password

If does not work, you can try 'other' in the type of driver, and the classpath of weblogic set to connect to SQL Server

doy, you know what should you do?

  • OBIEE and SQL

    All,

Asked me to find the answer to the question. We are currently looking at a solution, but to find out if we have the stored in SQL Server 2008 R2, could we sit a repository Oracle and OBIEE 11 g in addition to this or do we need to either:

    a. transfer all data in an Oracle database to the reportistory to create

    b. spend a lot of money by creating a link that would allow the two talk

If b is possible, would be the cost in terms of time, resources etc. exceed the cost of the option has.

Sorry if this really stupid question, but I have asked us to know before you go in a way of solution. Better than its threshold now then farther on the road when the impact of the problem.

    Thank you

  • filter columns nvarchar - SQL server

    Hello
I use OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2 and I have the problem with filtering of data from SQL server 2008. I use ODBC connection to the SQL server data access. I can see the results of my questions without any problem.

But I have the problem with filtering.

    My answer use these columns:

    ID (varchar (36))
    Code (nvarchar (256))
    Name (nvarchar (256))
    HappenedOn (date)

    Please look on this screenshost:

    http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5242/obieenvarcharcolumn.jpg
    Screenshot

I have problem when I want to use the filter on the column Code and use non-English characters. Specifically Czech characters in the windows1250 code page. With this filter, I can I see "no results". But select generated works in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

I think that there is a problem with the ODBC resources or configuration BI, but I can't find the reason for this behavior.
I do a specific configuration to use the NVARCHAR columns? Specify an encoding etc...

    Thank you

    Hi Cardel,

Can you try this in your physical layer, double click on the connection pool-> Goto Writeback tab-> check the box: type of Unicode data.
Click OK and check after Check - in Changes. Now all run them again the control report for the issue.

I have Toshiba Satellite A205-S5831 laptop.
Its Windows Vista Edition Have Home Premium.

And I am unable to install SQL server 2000 and 2005.
I also cannot install Windows XP SP2.

    SATA driver problem.

    Please help me...!

    Answer me

    Hello

Windows XP needs a SATA driver if you want to install on the laptop with SATA HDD controller.
Driver SATA can be found in the Intel Storage Manager.

I advise to use nLite program to include a SATA driver in the new Windows XP CD, then boot from the XP CD created new.
You will find details of the nLite:
    http://www.nliteos.com/

    With regard to the problem of Server SQL;
You may be able to install in Windows XP. There may be a compatibility problem between Vista and SQL Server software

  • Import Access DB to SQL Server

I'm trying to set up a SQL Server database.

Currently I use Access and my own plan which is very close to the "generic" Recordset

    I tried several things.

    * Band my .mdb so that it contains only the tables but no data.

    * Import to SQL Server.

    * Database .mdb complete, including the import data.

My tablenames in SQL Server always gets the prefix 'dbo '. This means that they use a schema "dbo" - right?

Can I export my plan (.ini) TestStand, , but how do I get that in SQL-SERVER?

Currently, I get the error below: (what is the result of not having the correct implement schema?)

Under the 'data link property"in TestStand I've set up to use a"specific name and user password"which is implemented in SQL Server.

I choose to save the "Password."

    Test the connection is OK.

If I close the window, but right after the reopening, the password properties are gone... which means it is not saved!   Why?

If I use NT integrated security, access to the database works.

I found a 'Solution' by exporting each table access rather than import it on SQL Server.

Now, it seems to be OK
