Obtaining a disk image of Vista (legal issues)?

My girlfriend bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium pre-installed, but it seems that the laptop didn't come with the CD of vista, or she has since lost their. Because I'm not really a Windows person, I would like to know the following:

(1) where can I find the vista license code? Is glued to the underside of the machine labeled Product Key (and composed of five blocks of 5 alphanumeric characters)?
(2) can I download a vista from an official source disk image?
(3) otherwise (I have not found one so far), it is legal to download vista family premium by the way and then use his license code to reinstall it on the same computer?

Yes.

The product key/license of Vista is this Sticker with 5 groups of 5 figures (25) stuck to the bottom of the laptop.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
Or borrow a good DVD (not Dell, HP, etc.) Vista.
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
  • Cannot obtain replacement disks of Vista Home Premium.
    I have a PC that came with a set of disks in the OS (Vista Home Premium) of the desktop type the Gateway FX. Technical support Gateway wants to load more that a new license cost complete and me have to wait a month to get them. Seeing as how I've already paid for the license, it's completely unfair. Can I get a disk of Microsoft (or anyone), if I have my license key? I understand that I must pay a nominal price for the physical disks.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mikey
    Hello
    If it never came with disk recovery, gateway must provide you with another way to reinstall the operating system.
    If they didn't they break their agreement with Microsoft.
    Here is the information on the bridge to access the recovery Partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista:
    "Full factory recovery"
    There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.
    If the above does not work, you may need to try this instead:
    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
    Hi sabsarh,
    If the hardware supports it, a basic input/output system (BIOS) password can be defined by preventing changes to the boot device prevents booting from removable media. Combined with physical security locks to prevent the hardware changes, it should help to prevent unauthorized access.
    You may need to contact the manufacturer or refer to the manual for assistance with the BIOS settings.
  • Multiple operating systems. How to get the double boot or sort and what's on the disk images?
    Hello. I currently have Windows XP Home Edition on my desktop. I have an update for Windows Vista Home Premium. Both are 32-bit. I read this linkhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-Vista. I have a few questions, I would like to precise please.
    Can I add the upgrade to Vista on a separate hard drive? Is there a partition?
    Do I need to install any other program infront of XP or Vista so I can dualboot? I have to if I wanted to add Win7 Home Premium 64 - bit as a bunch of sorting?
    I'm not pure install, I understand that. I'm done with my XP havn't programs, it takes more time than expected.
    Is it possible to create disk images or backups with more than one operating system installed? If I have an upgrade, I don't think that I can remove the previous installed OS (XP Home Edition) and have a Vista disk image work. At least I have clean install and only Vista is? I have Norton Ghost 15 and I wondered if I would be able to drive or backup XP image or upgrading to Vista at all, or together.
    Can an upgrade copy, I change the material at all, or add anything internally?
    XP SP3 on the desktop.
    Hello
    Yes, you need XP on your drive hard first to use the dual boot with Vista, after the restoration of ghosting for 2 hard drives.
    If you only want Vista on the PC, then you will need to use your Vista installation disk to repair and install files on the hard disk Vista.
    As for the reactivation, you should be able to activate again within 3 days on the internet, you may need to phone MS if you can't.
    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
    (2) press the ENTER"" key.
    (3) select your "country" in the list.
    (4) choose the option "activate phone".
    (5) stay on the phone and waiting for someone to help you with activation.
    Your XP disk is more then likely an OEM version, which means that it is linked to the computer it was installed on.
    So your Vista upgrade could also be tied to the PC you are upgrading to.
    Please keep in mind that my answer is based on the information in your message. More the better I can answer, Slan go foill, Paul
    Earlier, I told you how to get the Device Manager.  There you can uninstall the suspect as CD/DVD players, restart and have windows rediscover.  This method will take care of all driver problem (hopefully).  Replacement of readers would be the next step for review.
    As you have a Retail DVD you also have the possibility to do a Windows repair installation.  This would bring to your computer to the version of the DVD, for example, Service Pack 1, and other updates to Windows, may have to be redone.  Your programs and data are not lost, but it's a good idea to back up valuable data.
    I can remove them? Does make a difference? What are doing?
    All the other tips to speed up my mac because it is really slow!
    A disk image is a convenient way for a developer to package and deliver the program. Once you have copied the program in your Applications folder, there is no reason to keep. You can safely remove. Note: Make sure that you have copied the image program in your applications folder before deleting.
  • sparsebundle disk image not mounting
    I've recently upgraded to Mac OS Sierra and now I can not mount an image of disk sparsebundle.
    I enter the password, and then nothing happens.
    I tried the same image on a Mac running Leopard and it opens fine.
    I tried a few other sparsebundle some and other encrypted disk images not. Some are open very well, but others do not.
  • Cannot open encrypted on Time Machine disk image
    I have an encrypted file protected by password in my Macbook Pro.  The folder name is "Enc.dmg" and is kept in the main Applications folder. If I remove the Time Machine backup before a dmg file, it seems theoretically to save.  But when I later enter Time Machine go to Applications and click on the Enc.dmg file, it opens; It is not mount the disk image and invite me to enter the password.  Instead, a non-functional information is displayed.  The box contains unnecessary information. He tells me it's a dmg file.
    If ever, my computer crashes or is lost or stolen and I can't access my file encrypted on Time Machine, I'll be in big trouble.  Is it possible to actually make a dmg properly function in mode Time Machine?
    You restore the file before trying to open it? It should not open in Time Machine.
