Of packet losses causing ISDN link

Hi all

I have a little more trouble with the ISDN link. Everything works perfectly now, I can make calls to 384 k ISDN.

The problem now is that packet losses arises (not much,<1% total)="" when="" connected="" through="" the="" link="" into="" a="" lan.="" to="" clarify,="" the="" sx20="" needs="" to="" function="" over="" both="" isdn="" and="" ip="" (it's="" replaced="" an="" old="" tandberg="" edge).="" in="" lan="" calls,="" if="" i="" bypass="" the="" link="" completely="" and="" plug="" straight="" into="" the="" wall="" tap,="" the="" packet="" loss="" is="" at="" 0.0%.="" put="" it="" back="" in,="" packet="" loss="" is="" back="" up="" again.="" this="" is="" without="" changing="" any="" settings="" on="" either="">

Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm just trying to use the ISDN link in which it is never intended?

You do no way, it was not designed to be is supposed to work this way, allowing you to make IP or ISDN calls.  We have ours up and running in this way and it works well.

One thing to check would be the network cables that you are using - good markets and bad cables can often cause problems when using a quality cable can solve the problem.

Check your switch configuration to make sure that you are not forcing a setting the speed/duplex, which then is not being properly negotiated by the equipment then plug (or make sure that force you the settings the entire path if you need to do).

  • Linksys WRT54GSV4 causing packet loss? Wired or wireless.

Hello.  I struggled for months with my connection with packet loss.  Until yesterday my www.pingtest.net results were between 2 to 6% packet loss.  Usually at 5% packet loss.  A technician is released yesterday and bypassed my DSL modem and ran this test and got 0% packet loss whenever he ran.  So I bought a new DSL Westell modem out of it to replace my Speadstream 4100 and there it went.

Now, when I connect my Linksys WRT54GSV4 modem 6100 Westell DSL router, I get between 0% and 1% packet loss.  It is never greater than 1%, but is usually 1%.  This happens on my laptop wireless as well as PC connected directly to the router.  The main reason that this packet loss was hurting me in the first place was Xbox Live gaming.  Gears of War 2 kept thinking I cheat, and he welcomed me.  Last night I am host and did not host prohibited but that does not mean that it doesn't me ban in the future for minimal packet loss.

Any suggestions on why the router could be the cause of this loss of packets when the Linksys router is invovled?  With a PC connected directly to the DSL modem I get 0% packet loss on this test ping every time.

Internet service: AT & T DSL (6.0 Mbps)

    DSL modem: Westell 6100

    Router: WRT54GSV4 Linksys

Update: I just remembered that I have a Linksys 4 port switch (non-router).  I plugged my DSL modem into the uplink on the switch 4 ports and then ran a cable to my laptop.  Zero % packet loss!  The modem dsl ports linksys switch 4 and the laptop are all very well and get zero packet loss.  Only when the Linksys router is in the mix is there any loss of packets at all...

The router is defective or is this normal or what?

  • WRT54G2 causing packet loss?

I recently bought a nine Amazon.com router WRT54G2 v1.5.  I set up with my comcast cable modem in my new apartment, I just moved in too.  Recently I noticed that my speed has decreased, and sometimes never load Web sites.  One night, I sent a ping to a website (www.gamespot.com) and noticed that about 30 to 50% of the pings were delay.  I am puzzled how to sort this point, I went through all my speed optimatize configurations, I even updated the firmware (1.5.00).  If I plug my computer directly into the modem I get 15mbps down without loss of packets through the router, I get around 6 Mbps and sometimes extreme packet loss.

I have my home network: 1 Wired PC, 1 PS3 wireless and 1 wireless laptop.  I experienced these problems with each device.  Am I missing a setting or maybe just buy a router bunk?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    -Dave

As your Internet service provider is Comcast (cable)... you need to clone the Mac address of the computer... Then try to make this step... After cloning the Mac address... Shut down the computer... Unplug the power cable from the router and turn it off. Wait 2 minutes and then, turn on the Modem first, wait for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, once all the lights a modem are solid, then plug-in the power to the router cable and restart the computer... it should work.

  • Too much packet loss on WRT1900AC

I started using linksys wrt1900ac in the last 2 weeks and am facing a lot of problems with the internet. There are regular interruptions in which pages in a web browser do not load upward. Before that everything worked well.

When I checked ping to a Web site, I could see regular "Request Timed Out" error messages. If I connect my PC directly, then it does not work.

    What is your ISP modem?

    http://www.TP-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TD-8816

If the ISP's modem has a built-in router, it is best to fill the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: link >http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm and http://cognitiveanomalies.com/cisco-nat-how-nat-works/. If the modem cannot be filled, then see if the modem has a DMZ option and enter the IP address of the router gets the modem and put it in the DMZ modems.

Cause of the start time in this case I'd say it's hardware (flash, AIM, CPU module?) or the carrier/uplink.

loss of title: original package on vista but not xp

Hello. A month ago, I noticed that whenever the incoming data to transfer (download), I would get the persistent packet loss/tcp retransmissions. Packet loss is causing the loss of bandwidth, 600 kB/s instead of 2 MB/s. However, the download is perfectly fine. I contacted my ISP and they checked everything was ok on their side. I also tried to plug directly into the uplink of my ISP instead of use a switch/router, it did not help.

On my home LAN, my machines do it two vista. A computer vista laptop that I never touched the fact. A remote windows 7 tunneling through my router via OpenVPN machine does. However, a XP desktop PC and a laptop borrowed XP work fine.

Right now my best tips are a faulty windows update or a problem of management package by one of the routers in the ISP. I will continue to try to refine the question. In the meantime, any ideas what it could be?

Since then, I went from ISPS, now with the help of a major ISP on cable and get reliable 6 MB/s in the top-down process. If the problem is gone, and we'll probably never know...

  • Belkin G wireless router with packet loss

Hey im having a problem with my Belkin G Router wireless.  Sometimes, I need to plug allow a person with a laptop computer to connect to the internet, but as soon as I do, I become unable to find servers for online games.  When checking my connection on speedtest.net, I stumbled on Pingtest.net, I tried and found that I had a 88% packet loss.  I tried to configure to DMZ with no effect... What can I do?
Desktop Gateway W3650 all standard parts
    Wireless Belkin G F5D7234-4 v3 router
    Webstar DPC2100 modem

It works up until I plug the router

"Packet loss" is probably artificial due to the firewall of the router.  To check, go to http://192.168.2.1/ and click 'Firewall' on the left side and turn off.  Now try again, you should be getting 0% loss.  It worked for me.

You can enable it after checking.  I don't know that it actually reduces performance, it makes just hard to perform this test. ... I think so.

  • WRT610N (new) packet loss

I've read through the forums for a few hours and and I've seen others with this problem, but no clear solution.

I installed my new WRT610N (FW 1.00.18) and I experience packet loss when ping. When I ping from my laptop to an AT & T (4.2.2.2) DNS server, I get 20 to 40% of packet losses. In addition, the average ping time is about 15ms, but about every 5-6 ping, time passes at 1600-1900ms (sometimes as high as 3000ms). As a further test, I also ping the router directly to 192.168.1.1 and I get the same poor results.

I checked that the loss that happens between the laptop and the router. When I use the router built according to ping, I get good speeds and no loss of packets to the same address.

-J' tried this on 2.4 ghz and 5 GHz radio. I have disabled every radio to esnure test.

-J' tried different channels on each radio.

-I went back and reinstalled my WRT54g and had no lag or loss.

I am really stuck on what to try next. I also have another little problem. Whenever I have make a change to the configuration of the router through the web interface, and I hit SAVE SETTINGS, my laptop loses the wireless connection and I have to re - select my wireless network.

Someone at - he found a solution to what seems to be an unusual problem?

Have you tried to reset hard your router for a minute and then re - configure? If not try it... Hard reset of your router for a minute and then unplug minutes power of the router... Now re - configure your router... If the same problem persists, change the security to WEP and try again... Hope that works...

    This make sense to you?

Have you ever had this kind of problem?

    -Sorry for my English.

    Hi Omar,.

Because the ping packets are of low priority and CPU can drop for any reason he can't serve a ping request.

Outside the ping packet loss problem you have? If you have packet loss, while your guests try to talk to each other, so it is a concern that needs to be examined. Depending on the platform, there are speed limiters that can drop these packets. So I see this as usual unless you have other problems because of this.

  • IPSec and packet loss: Question

Hello, hopefully a simple Question :-)

Can someone tell me what happens when an IPSec packet is lost.

    He get fired?

are just the TCP packets inside IPSec resentment tunnel?

    I hope someone can help!

    Background: VoIP.

    We have Home office users.

Some have a quality of voice some terrible have a perfect quality, even if they all use the same hardware and configurations (name of user/passwords different and IP addresses of course)

    Fraser

There isn't anything in IPSec that would retransmit a lost package. It is the native protocol and terminal stations that communicate in order to determine if there is packet loss and whether or not to broadcast.

If I understand your comment correctly that you are dealing with individual users do VOIP, then more things you mention, which is different (name of user and password and addresses) almost certainly dealing with various different service providers / Internet connectivity. It would be interesting to do a ping extended with a large number of ping packets to a user who experiences problems and one that does not. I suspect that you will see a significant difference in packet loss.

  • packet loss unacceptable?

I have a test to a cisco wlc 2106 installation and 1231ag in light mode access point.  Ive been having problems with connectivity dropped, try a large number of configurations different wpa2.  I finally out down to a pretty ordinary config to a wpa2 psk non-broadcast ssid with most options cut in advance in the WiFi config.  I have a computer laptop linux and a computer laptop windows trials, both located about 10 feet from the ap with perfect signal strength.

I can connect correctly, and I do a stable ping from laptops to another (wired ip) for testing.  I'll let and then look at the ping statistics.  I always have a lost couple of pings.  It is usually 0% because its 3 similar pings on 800.  but is it acceptable? I thought that the wifi was supposed to be to avoid collisions.  is there an easy way to debug this addition put wireshark inbetween the AP and the WLC, then change to the WLC and the kernel, etc...

I consider 3 pings lost out of 800 to be a perfectly normal/acceptable behaviour in 802.11.  If you look at our design instructions for VoWLAN (voice about being the "Canary in the coal mine"), you will see that we don't specify more than 1% for a voice call packet loss, so 0.4% would be considered well below that threshold.

An unlicensed wireless channel there's Nothing like a CAT5e cable to cable.  It's worse than 1000BASE-T, generally with all sorts of 802.11 interference and non - 802.11 encroaching a duplex channel half with very high BER - many many orders of magnitude.  Certainly, the CSMA/CD 802.11 works hard to avoid collisions and to keep retransmit to pass its packets to the layer 2 - but when radar or microwave starts to walk everywhere in the physical layer, no upper layer magic going across the bits.

If you don't like 0.4% packet loss and want to troubleshoot it... then you would usually need something as the capture of the wireless packet on your channel, and an analysis of the spectrum (as Spectrum Expert) to catch any interference non - 802.11.  You may find that there are available 5 GHz channels that are cleaner than the 2.4 GHz you are trying to use now.  (Assuming you are using 2.4 GHz, you don't say.)

  • Cisco Telepresence ISDN link with endpoint SX20

    Hello

I have two SX20 and an ISDN connection.

Knowing as ISDN link manage calls for an endpoint, how can route calls to Internet of endpoint connected to the ISDN link box?

Is their any possibility to separate between ISDN and IP calls?

    Thanks and greetings

    Driss

The ISDN link can be connected to both the ISDN services and your local network to make calls over IP or ISDN.  See the example of the C40 "Combining of ISDN and IP" in the link ISDN data sheet and the section on outbound calls in the Setup Guide.  These are also detailed in the Administrator's Guide.
