Office and documents in icloud

I decided to opt for the Office of the BONES of the Sierra and option of documents on my iCloud and immediately regretted when I realized it would be absolutely clear my hard drive of the documents that I don't want to risk in the world on the storage online. Now I want to I stop the downloaded files, but it will not. If I'm screwed?

Allowing to iCloud by car is not wipe anything.

Which simply synchronize the contents of these folders to iCloud.

If you use 'also' all optimization features of new file storage, which "may" make copies of cloud instead of local copies of older files.

These settings are performed by separate choices, no not because you have activated the iCloud drive.

    Hi Eric,.

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple! You do not have something wrong; the behavior you describe is correct and expected. • iCloud Desktop Drive and Documents folders

Just updated to Sierra and thought, it would be a nice feature to be able to back up desktop and Documents folders to iCloud. However, this isn't really what he does... Instead it moves to your desktop and Documents folders to iCloud Drive. Using your desktop and Documents folders disappear favorites. Likely, it erases the hard disk space, but this isn't what I wanted. I wanted to work on my files on my hard drive and for these to be synchronized / mirror in iCloud. As I don't do real work on the files in these folders on any other device than my MacBook Pro, having these files available by other devices was not important to me.

    Now my questions are:

    (1) Will Time still Machine back up these two folders which are now in the cloud?

    (2) if I want to recover these files on my hard drive (my computer > users > user My > Documents/Desktop), what is the best way to proceed?

    (3) is there a clever way to use iCloud in the way I intended?

    Hello tormod v.,

Thank you for your question about iCloud Drive and Sierra here in Apple Support communities. I understand how iCloud is important, and how the features can sometimes confusing, especially when things like the new macOS Sierra and iCloud combing Drive.

The first thing we want to make sure is that all your data is safe. You can perform a backup using Time Machine and an external hard drive. Some people recommend an external hard drive twice the size of your internal hard drive, because finally he fills with the backups, but as long as you have a car large enough to store all the data currently on your Mac that will suffice. Use this article to help make a backup of your Mac: use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac. To answer your first question, now that these files and folders are in iCloud drive, those who will be saved differently and separate Time machine. To do this, please open this help article: Archive or make copies of your data to iCloud under the first section, titled 'the Documents and files of the iCloud drive '. You will need to download them to the computer again and then make a Time Machine backup, display instructions.

To get these files on your desktop, go ahead and disable the function of the iCloud drive option in system preferences. Then, after the warning, go ahead and drag and drop your iCloud Drive, return to your computers local documents files and/or folders of office. Move this disk to iCloud files and put them on your computer.

You last question has been answered by yourself and the article I post above to make an archive or copies of your data to iCloud. iCloud and iCloud drive aren't backups. Yes, you can make backups of iOS and save them in iCloud, but to perform a live backup of all your files and folders, they must be located on the internal hard drive or external hard drive connected to your Mac, and that external hard drive is not excluded from backups in the preferences of Time Machine.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

  • Trying to restore my calendar of office and then stop using iCloud

Is there a way to restore my contacts and calendar to desktop from iCloud, save them, and then disconnect from the iCloud without losing my data?

I was never able to synchronize to iCloud without problems, multiple contacts, desktop calendar lock trying to sync, etc.  I restored my iPhone and cleaned the contacts with iMazing duplicate (which have yet to duplicate groups) so I have something to use on my phone at the moment. I am disconnected from iCloud on devices and the system prefs. until I have find this.

While cumbersome, and a one-way path, sync via iTunes was reliable. I used only iCloud to locate my phone. As I could not to iCloud master, I want to go back to the manual synchronization.

I'm in trouble with this one. My timing is critical. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi sdb2013,

I understand that you no longer want to use iCloud for keep your data synchronized between your devices.  I'll include information here for troubleshooting iCloud, just in case you change your mind.  The first thing I would say is to make sure that your MacBook Pro is backed up via Time Machine and your iPhone is saved via iCloud or iTunes.   Then, take a look at the resources below that shows the steps to follow to back up all data you have in iCloud.   If you disable the iCloud as calendar features on your iMac, you will be asked if you want to keep the data on your computer.  It would be a starting point.

iCloud: change the settings of the features in iCloud

You can change the iCloud features you use on any of your devices by turning functions on or off. You can also disable iCloud completely.

When you disable a function iCloud on a device, information stored only in iCloud for this feature are no longer available on the device. If you turn off your Mail, Contacts, calendars, Notes, reminders, iCloud photo library or iCloud Drive on a single device, you can always review and change your information at iCloud.com and on another device you have set up for this feature.

In some cases when disable you a feature in iCloud on a device, you can choose to keep a copy of the feature on this device information. The copied information is not synchronized with iCloud. If you disable mail, Contacts, calendars and tasks in iCloud for Windows on a computer Windows, information stored in iCloud remain available in Microsoft Outlook, but it is not updated with your other devices.

Before you disable a specific feature on all your devices, or before shutting iCloud completely, you can archive a copy of your iCloud computer data. For more information, see the Apple Support article Archive or make copies of your iCloud data.

Turn on or off features iCloud

Depending on the settings of the device you want to change, do one or more of the following:

On your iOS device: go to settings > iCloud, then type to enable or disable features iCloud.

On your Mac: choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click on iCloud, and then select or deselect each feature.

Some features are not available or are listed differently in older versions of OS X.

On your Windows computer: Open iCloud for Windows, and then select or deselect each feature. To have your changes take effect, click on apply.

    • Some features are not available on your Windows computer or are listed differently, depending on whether your computer has Microsoft Outlook 2016 or earlier installed.

Installed Outlook: use iCloud Mail, Contacts, calendars and tasks in Outlook. Note that iCloud callbacks are called tasks in Outlook. If you turn off your Mail, Contacts, calendars and tasks, iCloud information remain available in Microsoft Outlook, but it is not synchronized with iCloud.

Not installed Outlook: use iCloud Mail, Contacts, calendars and reminders in your web browser on iCloud.com.

    • If you select bookmarks and your computer a Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox installed, you can click Options to select Windows which bookmarks you want to keep up-to-date with bookmarks in Safari on your iOS devices and browsers Mac computers, set up for iCloud Safari. • How to move the documents to icloud to mac

Recently, I decided to use icloud for storing my documents. I now discover is therefore more a folder for Documents on my Mac. The favorite of Documents is also missing from my Finder with no option to add back. The only option and something that I see in the Finder's Documents in iCloud. I want to stop using icloud for storing my documents. How to return all documents on my Mac? I tried to create a "Documents" folder under my user, but he comes back and says that it already exists. I can't find. Help!

Similar situation with my father.  He did not know that it turned on syncing iCloud and after disabled it, discovered that his office was empty (the Documents probably too, but it wasn't in the concerned e-mail message, I received this morning).

This seems to be the opposite of what one should expect; When turning off this feature, you should be at least the option to restore your files in the desktop and Documents folders.

I do "remote support" for an octogenarian who is not very comfortable to make changes to his computer.  If all goes well, there is a simple solution that I can talk to him through.

  • Display the pictures and videos on iCloud drive app issues

    Hello

My iCloud drive is enabled in my iPhone 6 + and iPad Pro and on the Apple TV. I can see all the photos and videos on my Apple TV. However, when I opened the iCloud reader app on my iPad Pro, no photos or videos are indicated. He is white, except for a couple of documents. I have a subscription of 200 GB and 157GB of available, but nothing shows up on my iCloud drive app in my iPad Pro. Ditto for the iPhone 6 + if I was made to understand the elements are all in the camera app. I took almost all of my pictures and videos on my iPhone and these are uploaded to the icloud drive. Please give me some suggestions as to why they do not appear on my iPad Pro but are visible on my Apple TV. I signed in with the same username and password to iCloud.

The photo aren't in the iCloud drive application, which concerns the documents.

    Here's what you do;

You are using Safari go iCloud.com on iPad Pro.

Once there hold your finger on the circular at the end of the URL field arrow until the Bureau request website. Tap the Office application site.

    Connect to your iCloud account.

    Press photo icon.

  • the backup of Microsoft Office for Mac to iCloud

I can't save my documents from within Microsoft Office for Mac on my iMac in the iCloud?  Does anyone have a suggestion?    "HE."

iCloud does not offer the ability to save a Mac computer. You can save an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch to iCloud.

If you have the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud drive turned on, you should be able to save a document from the desktop to the folder of iCloud drive or drive movement documents previously saved to other folders to iCloud. You can go to Finder preferences > Sidebar (at the top of the preferences window) and put a checkmark in front of iCloud drive in this window that make it easier. Note that save or move the files to the folder of the iCloud drive will keep a copy on your local disk and synchronize in iCloud. It is not the same as having a backup because if you accidentally delete the local copy, the copy on iCloud is also deleted.

  • access to documents in icloud macbook

Hello..  How do you see all your documents in icloud/drive? you first drop them in the drive to icloud on your pc?

On your Macbook go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud and turn on iCloud Drive (if you haven't already done so). Then save or move documents in iCloud drive folder. Note that she keeps a local copy of the documents in this folder. In the Finder, you can open the file by using the go menu in the Finder. I find it more convenient to iCloud by car in the side bar of the Finder. You can drive to that by going to presences Finder, click on the box at the top of the preferences window and put a checkmark in front of iCloud.

  • How can I copy Pages and Numbers to ICloud by car?

I just upgraded my IPhone 6 Plus and my IMac (running OS X El Capitan) the reader to ICloud.  I thought that my documents Pages and Numbers would be automatically copied in ICloud drive.  They were not.  How can I copy my documents Pages, and existing Numbers to ICloud drive?  I have read some material, and none of them explain how to copy my documents in ICloud without removing them from my computer.  Is it possible to have documents in ICloud and on my IMac (like ICloud library works)?

  • Some iBooks missing after the update and switch to iCloud

    Updated in 9.3

Agreed to use iCloud, now some of my iBooks issue are missing

Since the upgrade to ios 10.11.4, when you go to iBooks, asked me if I wanted to synchronize using iCloud. What I did. Then, about 100 + iBooks has shown on my Mac but not on my iPad or iPhone, despite having the same on all devices 3 apple ID and correct synchronization enabled buttons. When I looked at the LIST iBooks on library iBook of my mac (next to all the books, collections, authors and categories), many of my books has appeared as zero KB in size, but I could still open them on my Mac. They has not yet shown on my other devices. I deleted all my books zero KB. Then went to TRASH, moved into my OFFICE and then trained in iBooks once more. This time, they showed as having a value greater than zero KB and now appear on all my devices. So: delete, restore, import again. Must be synchronized.
