How can I use Office Update without the Office CD?
How can I use Office Update without the Office CD? On the microsoft Web site, I clicked the options which mean that I would not need the CD (which was not provided with the laptop), but poartway through the service pack update, I get a request for the Office 2000 Professional CD.
Any suggestions?
Hello
Did you mean an office or a note?
As far as I know the a Note is part of the recovery Image and the CD is not supplied with the unit. In addition, Toshiba units are not delivered with the Office 2000 software. However, have you checked to aid either in Word update function?
You will find an option called verification of updates

For example: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/results.aspx?freetext=KB978382&displaylang=en&stype=s_basic
Once you have downloaded the somewhere, you can locate on your hard drive, manually install the same.

Download problemsGreetings,
Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at. First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.
Since they are all Office updates, you can do a repair for office function. To do this, click the Start button, type programs and features and click the enter key. Right click on Microsoft Office 2007 and choose change. Choose fix and continue. Microsoft Office will attempt to fix any problems there (this will) take a few minutes to run.
Sometimes, in order to get the patch to install correctly, you must make them manually:
(1) Download Center to visit Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx.
(2) search for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB979309).
3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run. You must accept the agreement and then click on continue.
(4) repeat this process for each download of updates Windows could not install.
(5) to rerun the update from Microsoft, click find updates. If all goes well, it will show that you are completely patched. If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner. Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.
Hope this helps to get your installed patches.

Error: Code 646 after several attempts installation 5 Microsoft Office updates.
I am running Windows Vista (32-bit) Home Premium Edition Service Pack 2 on a Dell Inspiron 530 s PC.
Specific updates I have experienced the problem are:
Update of security for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB973475) 4.9 MBUpdate of security for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB973443) 5.6 MB
Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB978551) 466 KB
Update for the filter of junk mail to Outlook 2003 (KB977840) 3.4 MBI had my computer in "safe" mode during the installation. I tried disabling my firewall temporarily, then I tried with all the protections that are temporarily off.
* I really don't understand the reasoning for me required updates for Microsoft Office 2003 and related features... I have not installed it in my computer, nor use any product of Outlook. I guess maybe it's to cover items that can be received by e-mail perhaps as an attachment. ??

I do not have MS Office and do not plan to put it on my computer. However, I get the notice that there are 9 available and updates whenever I want to install an update, I want, I have to uncheck all Office updates. Is there anyway to eliminate these and still show other updates "Important"?
Thank you
I see that I need the PP a viewer looking good, but what of the rest? Is what I also have MS Works version 9.7 I think. There is also a record of MS Office 12 that has the viewer inside PP, but is only 47.6 MB in total size. Not sue if I have an installed Office compatibility pack as I can't have done.
If you have not installed Office Compatibility Pack, we wouldn't you have offered Office Compatibility Pack SP1.
Yes, you must install all updates (including Office Compatibility Pack SP1). ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft
