Offset to 00023845 generic host error
Around October 20 I started to receive an error generic host 32. It then says Ver Mod 5.1.2600.5755 scvhost.exe, appver 5.1.2600.5512 ntdll.dll, offset 00023845.
It seems to start after running, IE, and then my computer freezes. I tried running without Add - ons and I've reset IE which did not help.
I started in safe mode and ran Malwarebytes anti malaware and Trend Micro anti virus. This seemed to help for a few hours as Malware found 17 infected files, but he did it again. My sound does not work also.

Computer security is not my forte, but I think I can answer your question.
Your existing computer is no more or less safe than a new computer. I say this because you clear the malware from your existing computer.
Will depend on the security of your computer what programs deploy you and how you use your computer. You need a reliable anti-virus program, a real-time anti-spyware program and a firewall. A second anti-spyware for the scans of periodicals program is favored by many. You must install the Microsoft security updates as soon as they are available. You deal with system errors reported in the observer of events as and when they arise. If you have errors you notice the malware activity it would occur. Once malicious software gets a foot other malware can exploit the breach in the security of the computer.
It is also important to how you use your computer. If you visit questionable sites, then you expose your computer. Integrated modern anti-virus software usually means to identify sites at risk. You must heed the warnings. Where passwords are appropriate.you need to keep details secure. Financial scams are commonly attempted by a ruse. Do not respond to emails that are unsolicited, asking you to provide personal information. All commonly available financial offers should be ignored as there wiil be a unexpected price to pay. With specific Bank web sites you should only go there on your own initiative and not in response to an invitation on the internet. The level of security should be triggered if you run a business through the computer.
Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

The generic host error and 100% CPU usage
OK, I have a friend who has a problem that I tried to help him.
two different problems what I beliave are related to each other. About every 4 hours a serive generic host error will go up. The only thing can be made once this error occurs, is a reboot. Sometimes this error happens at different times, but especially at intervals of 4 hours.
Second problem is that one of the svchost.exe process will peg the CPU at 100%. Sometimes the generic host service will pass about 10 min. after that the CPU will 100% sometimes if you leave sit PC long enough for svchost.exe CPU utilization will be brought back to normal. It may take up to an hour or even longer.
This PC had Mcafee at least 2 years, and all windows updates and dat files are updated. So it shouldn't be a virus. It is not get used for much more then the e-mail and web browsing lite. I have seen some information about the windows auto updater causing problem and followed the instructions to fix this. It will appear to work for the rest of the day then get back to the top. I ran about 5 different virus, spyware, malware, scans etc. on it and he comes clean each time. I've been a PC Tech for 12 years and checked and tried about everything I can think of short of formatting and to start over, the list of what I've tried is long to enumerate hear. I hope input fresh can help pinpoint the problem.
I never liked using a clean install as a miracle solution. You never hear anything like that, more it can be a big pain in the rear to the person using the PC. So, any help would be appreciated!
the PC is under Win XP SP3

crazy!I solved my problem...
To temporarily disable closing kick, after that the warning popup will appear, I went the prompt commands and typed in 'shutdown-a' so I could help out.
Then I went in under the Application Event Viewer and saw that some services weird I don't need anyway did not start because they had missing information/dll registry info. It was originally the svchost.exe service to fail (and default recovery for this is to reboot)
I stopped the weird service (in this case, it was Hello) because I didn't need anyway, and went into the properties of this service and past earlier in "Manual" "automatic".
Good luck

Well, I'm quite sure that committed Microsoft Support Engineer 'expert' is just send you on another of their many wild goose hunting.
Surely, Imran M will come up with some other ideas - it's their job and they are the ones that Microsoft hired as their "experts".
Tell us exactly the message that see you in its entirety, follow this:
No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:
Download, install, update and do a quick scan with these free malware detection programs (not at the same time) and remove all threats:
Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/SAS will probably report a lot of tracking cookies and you can just let him delete them.
Then stand out my answer as the 'response' (which you do) for other people will see the topic is not resolved and you offer other ideas.

· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Follow these steps:
Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.
Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.
(a) click Start, run.
(b) type msconfigand click OK.
(c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
(d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
(e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
