old games - back/win95

Compatabiliity will not work with old games.  specifically, I can't the Black Dahlia, Sanitarium games and the Cameron files to work.  These last two will install even.  Black Dahlia moved but after, game and freeze the controls.  haven't tried to find updates of patches, etc. no luck.    Oh I forgot.  my system is a gatewat p-6860fx, 64-bit win 7.  7 updated, maintained and nvidia and everything.  Thank you

PT + 5,
For DOS based games, you should look into a BACK emulator.  There is one which has been mentioned in a few discussions on here called DOSBox.  I don't know that there are others out there so you can do a Bing search and look at all the options.

  • Diablo 1 does not at all, 12 years old game does not work on the new computer

Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite P200 with Windows Vista 32-bit, it has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 video card. I also have 10 installed Direct x which, according to the manufacturers of my video card is compatible. I ran a test game that was included with the CD and it said that everything is okay. But it is still coming up with this error. "Diablo could not correctly initialize your video card using directX" then it tells me to update my directx which I did. check and update my driver for my graphics card and make sure its compatiable which I did and it's. I've been to Blizzard games, and they said that can not help me and I have to go to the manufacturer of the video card. I went to them and they said because it was a laptop they cannot help me with this and told me to goto, the manufacturer of my laptop that I do at the moment, but if someone had this problem and have any ideas how I can get this race please tell me thanks.

This game was designed for Windows 95. Of many old games do not work under NT (on XP and Vista) kernel unless you use the emulation such as DOSBox.

You can try setting the game to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode (click with the right button on the games EXE file, select Properties-> Compatibility tab).

Otherwise, you will need to install Win95/98 and possibly to use a video card more old since display drivers change so rapidly and drop the old features not more used.

  • old games not working not

    Hello
my system is a laptop with Vista Home Basic, hav just installed service pack 2, but had these errors before, intel celeron dual core 1.73 ghz t1400.
I am trying to install two old games, alien trilogy and army, both men are on the perfectly legal full versions of records.
When I try to install the alie trilogy, I get the message "c windows system32 cmd.exe, this system does not support mode full screen" after the back, opens the window. After that, I have to press the close button.
during the installation of the army men I get the message "component RICHTX32. OCX is not correctly registered: file is missin or invalid.
doesanyone have any ideas to fix these errors?
    Thank you

For the Alien trilogy.  This site contains information about how to work around the issue that is detailed, but you can't find it useful.  If you have an older version of XP laying around, you can consider creating a configuration dual-boot, you can boot into XP to load these old games and use Vista for everything else.

  • Can I run an old program BACK under Vista?

Is it possible to run an old program BACK on a Vista operating system. either 32 or 64 bit?

I found a simple painless 3rd party open source solution. It is simply done by running a BACK EMU called Dosbox.

Use the latest version of www.dosbox.com.

Read the easy to understand by the Doc for the command line interface commands. Worked perfectly the first time to run an old (something 80) BACK ASCII B & W strategy game that I use to start BACK on a 4 platform mghz v3.2 clone IBM XT.
  • old game system requirements for modern operating system

On the system requirements check of an old game, he showed the cd/dvdrom was slow (300 Kbps). How can I change the speed of cd/dvdrom on a windows operating system 7? And if it is importiant, the game, I am trying to install, I install via dosbox (a dos Emulator).

-Give more details of what is, or isn't, and include the name of the game.

"On the system requirements check of an old game, he showed cd/dvdrom was slow (300 Kbps).

Not sure what you mean - the disk requirements are lower than your CD/DVD drive speed,
or your drive does not have required gear.
-Kbp/s 300 seems a little slow, if it's the speed of your drive, because it is only equivalent to 2 X.
-I assume that the disc requires a drive with a minimum speed of 4 X?
Modern disks usually have a minimum of 4 X, so if the disc does a 2 X you may not be able
    to do anything.
-I don't know where to change the speed, if possible. I thought the speed was fixed, or
    determined by the media.

  • How can I get my old firefox back?

I don't like this new blue one and has not asked for it, this is all of a sudden. In addition, it has a really strange behavior. For example, just now I have 5 tabs open firefox. The first is a question on your forum. When I clicked on the link "ask a question" at the top of the page, it opens the next page in a new tab. And when I clicked on the find on this page button, it opens another tab again. This tab was asked what product I want support with and open another tab with the next page. And yet 10 minutes ago it worked fine. He retains it, doing suddenly change his mind about how he opens new pages.
In addition, I can be through a page using the scroll on my mouse wheel, then suddenly it stops scrolling and starts to do the top page or less instead. Why he keep changing his mind on what he does?
Really don't like this new browser and would appreciate that I could get my old one back that worked perfectly well and really no need to upgrade.

It is possible that some of the keys to the State and possible other keys have the bad state and consider Firefox as always in a hurry.

Try pressing all the keys (shift, Ctrl, Alt) state several times to see if that helps to recover from this.
Is it didn't help and then close and restart Firefox or restart the computer.

You can watch the classic extension theme restaurateur restore some features that has been lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

    • You can check the settings of the extension of the CTR through the Options/preferences button on the page "Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions.
    • You can find additional toolbar buttons and additional toolbar settings in customize (Firefox 3-bar menu button > customize)

  • Is there a way to change my laptop to do an old game to work?

I had no idea where to post this kind of investigation, so I guessed "general content". I'm sorry to any irritation due to people who know what they are doing!

When you click the icon for the drive I get the error message-

«The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.» Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x 86 (32-bit 0 or x 64 (64-bit version of the program 0 and then contact the software publisher.)) »

In my view, that the software publisher has long been out of business, so no help.

    * Basically, I have very little computer knowledge and have tried everything I can. Is there a simple way in which I can change some things on my computer to make this run, or is it impossible? *

    _Thank you. _

If you can't always run exe, you can find a utility called, emulator. You can also install Virtual Pc program to run this old game

  • Satellite L755-144: drive Blu - ray (BD - ROM) game back support

    Hello!

Sorry if this sounds a little silly question.

I am looking to buy Satellite L755-144 (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L755-144/1107338/toshibaShop/true/) that comes with a Blu - ray (BD - ROM) game back support disk drive.

Now, I don't know what that means. I can see that it plays Blu ray DVD and CD, I understand it does not burn Blu Ray, but it burns DVD and CD?

    Thank you

    Hello

I searched for some more details on the Satellite L755-144 and the ODD support and the internal disk drive support this:

    CD - R (read/write),
    CD - RW (read/re-write),
    DVD - R Carbon SL, DL (read/write),
    DVD - RW (read/write),
    DVD + R Carbon SL, DL (read/write),
    DVD + RW (read/write),
    DVD-RAM (read/write),
BD - R SL, DL (read),
BD - RE SL, DL (read),
    CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, BD - ROM (read)

PS: Means DL double layer and SL means monolayer ;)

    Welcome them

  • Update created the new profile. How to get my old one back

An upgrade creates a new profile. I need my old one back. I see an e-mail with all the records now missing folder. But how to implement this profile or change my current profile to include records on the roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\1dext3ey.default\mail?

    Thank you

    George

    Matt

Rebuilt all the missing files in the local folders. Decided would probably not yet of Toad Hall on the recovery so profile moved all the folders and subfolders until the main account name.

A lot of work and very slow as you have said, but all back to normal.

Thank you for your help and perseverance.

  • Lenovo v580 - full screen scale - work is not in the old games

Intel HD 4000 defining "scale full screen" does not work in the old games.

    http://S22.postimg.org/lg4djhww1/image.PNG

For example "heroes of might and Magic IV" (maximum resolution of the game is 1024 x 768-... system doesn't add black borders to fit screen - instead of graphics in fullscreen scaling).

For me, this option only works on the desktop.

My office is graduated in resolution 1024 x 768 (screen looks wider)- but when I start the game with the same resolution (1024 x 768), the system adds just black horizontal borders... to adapt (1366-1024) = 342 pixels horizontally.

I'm trying to re - install my graphic drivers (Intel and NVidea), but not luck.

Currently, my driver is up to date.

    This is my DxDiag report:

    https://drive.Google.com/file/d/0B8PlsvE7ME5NLVVKd0dRaFpVTlk/view?USP=sharing

    I've found the workaround:

There are several modes of resolution of 1024 x 768 and one of them is what I need.

So I write my C program to set the correct resolution after the beginning of the game.

My plan to write the application that wants to hear it to display the windows and so undermined resolution system settings change message (for example 1024 x 768 without scale full screen)-my application will fix it (will change resolution to 1024 x 768 with full screen scale).

  • I want to play my old games

When we went from windows 98 to Vista, all my old sedentary games that don't involve not destroy the world, killing all the aliens or being generally destructive wouldn't.
Payment of another amount of xxx £ will allow me relaxing games that help to freshen up and calm down after the frenetic work that I do, be playable on the new system? or should I just go to a boot sale and buy an old machine?

In The Settlers series is you should try the official table . There are a lot of people play games (or attempt to play games) on XP/Vista and later versions.

I know for a fact that the settlers 2 can run on Windows Vista because gog.com re-released with Vista compatibility. Generally good old games (gog.com) do things that users want not themselves, which means: the search for solutions make the old XP/Vista-compatible games, then releasing a new installer (with the authorization of the owners of copyright, of course). However, there are solutions for the most of old games without the need to pass through services such as GOG, if you have the original CD. The only thing is that it may take some research, download, tweaking and hit in the right places (like the link I mentioned above for The Settlers) before the game to work perfectly on the latest OS.

To answer your first question, if you have never got a game to work on Vista, there is little chance that this will work better on Windows 7 so spend more money for a newer OS is not the solution.  However, if you manage to get a game running on Vista, the chances that it will also work on seven (using the same advice as you applied for Vista) are very good.

The only advice I can give you is to start with a search in your favorite search engine (Google, Bing... whatever) on the web for the title of the game you have in mind and 'Windows Vista' (for example for settlers 2, you would type in ' settlers "Windows Vista' 2" -citations are important because they tell the search engine to look for settlers 2 and Windows Vista on the same page ") rather than look for all of the word so that will save you a large number of irrelevant results) and then review the results. Depending on the game (is it well known? Is there a community of users around it well?) the chances to quickly find and answer to run your old games on your system may vary. Generally, you will be able to more quickly find reliable solutions for games that are followed by a strong community for games that nobody don't even remember. Some old games with a huge fan base have community sites already there to help you and that probably already have all the answers (like the thief with ttlg.com series). On the other hand, you can be out of luck if you have a game that few people care about play.

    Good luck in your search...

  • Get old games to run on 64-bit

I was wondering if there is a way to get Putt Putt saves the zoo on Windows 7 64 bit. Yes I know, that it is an old game that's 95

If its 16 or 8-bit 64-bit does not support it. Unless you use Pro or Ultimate, you can try XP mode
