Old iPhoto migration

I have some old white MacBook 2007 with the latest os x Lion and iPhoto on it. Problem is that the system is super slow and iPhoto barely works. I want to go back to older iPhoto and Leopard/Snow Leopard. Is it possible to do? Can I just move specific folders to the iphoto library in old iPhoto library folder and it will work? Does anyone know what file determines the version of the iPhoto library? Thanks for the tips.

It is not possible to 'return migration' - you can go back to restore a backup system full when you want to return to-this will give you exactly what you had when you made the backup - all changes made to all data from the backup must be stored separately and subsequently applied to the system

  • Old iPhoto Library don't convert

My father has an old iPhoto Library that cannot convert pictures. He arrived at 24% and just hangs there. I can't get an intermediate version of iPhotos (9.6.1), I've read can help fill the gap. I also tried the iPhoto Library of valuation, and he said that the latest version of iPhoto can open (without help). I'm at my wit's end. He received thousands of photos. Should I chunk Photos and go to Picassa, or something like that? If so, he will have lost a lot of metadata and will really *. In addition, iCloud is a waste of money without his pictures inside.

    Thanks for any help.

Try to rebuild the iPhoto Library Manager library.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its function of reconstruction. (In early versions of the Library Manager, this is the file-> command Rebuild.) In versions later it is under the menu library.)

This will create a completely new library. It will then copy (or try) your photos and all associated metadata and versions to this library and as close as possible to what you had in the damaged library fix it. It does this based on the information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but it means that things not shared won't be there, so no slide shows, books or calendars, for example - but it should recover all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places.

Because this process creates a completely new library and does not change your old, it is non-destructive, and if you are not satisfied with the result, you can simply go back to your old.

  • Do not click on old iPhoto library in Bridge CS5. It converts images of the .pkg file

Hi fellow users. I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.4 Adbobe CS5 Bridge and iPhoto 8.1.2.

I have multiple iPhoto libraries stored in the folder my pictures. If I click on an iPhoto library somewhat current bridge, iPhoto lance and (according to the version of iPhoto package), displays the photo library in iPhoto.

WARNING WARNING WARNING: Do not THROW OLD iPHOTO LIBRARIES FROM BRIDGE CS5

If I click on an OLD deck of iPhoto from the bridge, he launched iPhoto but iPhoto doesn't display the library.

What happens next is bad. Somehow the entire 'Images' folder is now considered by the dysfunctional finder as an iPhoto library or a "package". I had two happen.

    ---------

The fix. From a finder window, you can right click on the photos icon and 'display the contents of the package. Drag the contents to a new folder. Remove the package of photos. If you wish, rename the new folder "Images". You may help iPhoto find your library again the next time that you open it. You will not be able to pass the package of photos to the Recycle Bin without loggin as user root (Apple can guide you through this).

    Good luck and be warned.

What happens next is bad. Somehow the entire 'Images' folder is now regarded by

    both occur.

As I don't have a single iPhoto Library I can see the icon and when clicked

    It opens iPhoto forward.

I don't have much experience with iPhoto and don't like the way you work

with a library in a package hidden instead of a folder structure opened as

    Bridge of fact.

Do not understand what you mean with the old library. If you rename the previous

versions of the iPhoto library or do create you several libraries for different

    projects?

Anyway, as Lao Tai already said, iPhoto library is a package and therefore

not supposed to see photos in Bridge.

Assuming that you have a back up of libraries you can replace without

See the contents of the package.

In the Finder, select the file that you describe and right of the mouse and then click

Do this also with your current library and place them side by side

    Compare the differences.

The safest way to get your originals is in the same way, choose view

Copy (if you are still able to use iPhoto, if for some reason any one)

do) this content to the new folders in the finder (of course outside of the)

  • Can see, but can not access, photos of iPhotos migrate Photos for Mac

    Hello

I transferred my my former (white) mac's iPhoto library to my new Macbook Air. I now see my iPhotos on Photos of Mac, but I'm unable to export or share (nothing happens if I click on these options), or even copy and paste. If I try to contact by e-mail or page that they do not appear on my photos via the Finder (but I can see more recent pictures no iPhotos initially). So basically I can see them, but can do something with them.

    Everyone knows about this problem?

If this does not occur, my only thought as to what this may be the case is due to an error in the migration? I have now installed Library upgrade on my new Mac (I think I was already use when migrating on the old Mac but don't remember the details), but so that he can see my iPhotos library, it is grayed out, so I can't try and apply the upgrade to the library via new Mac. So I'm stuck again. (if it's the solution, I'm not sure it's..)

Does anyone have any ideas what is the problem and how to fix? Where is possible it's just a failure of Apple/iphotos old photos have no Photos for Mac features?

    Thank you!!

    It certainly has the feature.

Have you tried to repair the library: back to the top and then press the command and option (or alt) keys all by launching Photos. The dialog that allows you to rebuild.

  • Can I put more old iPhoto to use OSX 10.11?

Hello. I use OS x 10.7.5 on an iMac in early 2008. I wonder about the upgrade to 10.11. I want to continue to use iPhoto rather than photos, which I believe is possible with iPhoto 9.6.1. However, I have an old version of iPhoto (8.1.2) and there seems no possible day, before or after the update to OSX 10.11. I must point out that my copy of iPhoto is part of iLife ' 09 (I think), not redeemed on disk from Apple in the era of the dinosaurs - in any case, no trace in the App Store.

More generally, my current iMac won't last indefinitely, and I fear that when it becomes necessary to migrate to a new model running OSX 10.11 (or later version), my photos, which are in several libraries, each sorted into albums, will get completely scrambled.

    Any information appreciated. Thank you.

Unless Apple says that otherwise, no.

  • Deleting photos in the Photos app, still remaining in the old iPhoto library

I spent hours, removing thousands of unwanted photos to free up space. However this happened that I discover now that they still exist in the iPhoto library. Do I have to repeat all the old process in the iPhoto application?

Yes. Once migrated, there is no link between the two libraries. You may wonder why you're keeping both.

  • consolidation of two Mac OS messages.app archive / database (old SMS migration to new mac)

Hi, some time ago I move from the MBW Unibody (Yosemite) to the MBP (as the new Yosemite and El captain now). System files of old, full of junk mac, did not migrate to a new. I had an iPhone 4S at this time, later I change 4 s to 5 s. It took me a while to realize that my archive messages.app on new MBP starts from a ~ September and there is no SMS messages more former both on MBP and 5s.

I know that it is not a problem to replace my new archive old MBP but I want to keep the MBW SMS old and new SMS of MBP.

Copy of name/library/Messeges/Archive users/user content does nothing.

Someone at - he had idea of:

    1. consolidate the chat.db, chat.db - shm, files chat.db - wal?

    2. force download messages from old iPhone 4S for MBP

    3. He made?

Will be grateful for the help, I just can't work it out by myself.

    Hello

The chat.db elements are the SQL files and you could (I have not tried) get and application that can read the files to merge some.

    (2) cannot be done. Although the files are on the iPhone and can be backed up in iTunes, then a utility used to bring in text, there is no way to get this into Messages.

The files are for a different OS (only compatible applications between them - that would be like trying to work with the LENS for PC files saved in the Mac version)

  • IPhoto migration from an external drive: stuck with hard links to the external hard drive

I got my IPhoto library on an external drive. To migrate to pictures, I dragged the IPhoto (on the external hard disk) file to the Photos icon.

Migration went well, but instead of importing data to the external hard drive to my macbook, Photos stored links on the external drive. Now whenever I start the Photos, the system tells me it takes the external drive to view the contents of the library.

To resolve this problem, I tried to copy my IPhoto library on my macbook and redo the import. It does not work: Photos, said the library has been upsized already (I noticed that the IPhoto library has been renamed 'iPhoto Library.migratedphotolibrary')

Is it possible to reverse the migration or mark the IPhoto library as not yet migrated? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks for your help!

Rename the copy of the iPhoto library on your internal drive to 'iPhoto Library.photolibrary '.  Then drag the library renamed on the Photos icon and pictures will create a new photo library on your internal drive.

  • How to put 10 photos on the page?  Model Max is 4 photos.  Old IPhoto had 10-photo model.

Trying to create 8.5x11 hardcover with Photos OS X.  The models allow only max of 4 photos.  Older version of iPhoto has templates for photos 7 to 10.  How can I include more pictures per page?

The templates cannot be changed - you can use the themes and templates - however there are certainly pages with more than four available - look at the different themes and find one that has the desired layout

For example, trip has at least three with 7 photos

Any help is appreciated.  Thank you!

I'm afraid that you run into something that had been predicted: CS6 since will never be updated (Adobe has stated it clearly for at least three years), this problem will never be solved. The current version of InDesign CC 2015 works very well and has been updated to resolve this issue.

Either, you will have to live with it, or upgrade to InDesign CC, I'm afraid.

  • Migrating from iPhoto to Photos

I just upgraded to El Capitan and want to start using the Photos, I have followed the procedures to migrate my old iPhoto library Photos with my library of Photos appointed to reside on another internal hard drive.  I tried several times, but shortly after the migration has started I got the message that there insufficient space disc - 10 GIG necessary.  The drive I'm migration towards had 240 available concerts.  I tried to reformat the drive and emptied of all other files so that its complete 250 concerts are available, but the process still hangs on to 8% with the same message - not enough disk space.  Can someone give me an idea as to what is the problem?

What is the format of the second internal drive where the library s iPhoto stored? How many free space your main internal drive there? What is your iPhoto library

And since there is no single move procedure and what you are doing is not working, it would be useful for you to actually share the procedure that you use

  • iPhoto Photos migration killed my catalog!

    Hi all

There is a very strange error during my iPhoto migration into Photos now my database is pretty unusable. I hope someone here has an idea or a solution to help me... Let me describe what happened.

My iPhoto library is saved on an external hard drive FW and about 15 k big photos. When I open iPhoto he asked me if I would like the new photos and I said yes. I took hours and hours and did nothing except moving constantly. So I stopped the process and I'm back to iphoto. After I opened it, I thought "oh *...» "because all my fotos disappeared. They were in the old iphoto or the new application photos more. When I checked the size of the folder, it was clear to me that they must be in the old file iphotos and then I started to do the restoration of the library options.

Now comes the worst: after the repair of the library, he had also imported all the thumbnails in iphoto and now I have 60 pictures of k. It's really bad...

Anyone AN idea how to rewind that or any ideas in how clean that mess up?

Thanks for your help and happy new year

    love

    Michael

and then I started making the restoration of the library options.

I don't know exactly what it is but he doesn't pitch as, among other things, you imported back to the library, not restored. The solution would be to restore properly. How you do that depends on how the backup was performed.
