On Win XP in Windows Explorer how the part of the file open by default?

When I double click on 'My Computer' or a folder or hard drive used to open with the folders pane is already open Windows Explorer. Since I replaced my drive hard is no longer the fact and I have to press the record button to open and trying to set the Folder Options from this point of view to apply to all folders does not remember that. I can't find an existing answer to this problem. I use Win XP SP3 with all updates installed. I had found a solution to this on the web before, but it seems to have disappeared as I can't locate.

Can anyone help?

  • Synchronize the left pane in the Explorer with the file open

Is there some way you can sync the tree in the left pane in the Explorer with the file you have open right?  I realize you can use the address bar to make a basic up and down navigation but I often need to move freely through the hierarchy of folders and countless levels of tree in the left pane of the hand opening becomes very tedious.  Since we have been able to do for going on 18 years now, it's a little disconcerting, to say the least, to be withdrawn.

    Sometimes, you need a context!

I myself discovered that if you right click on an empty space in the left pane (folder), you get a menu containing two options, 'show all files' and 'develop in the current folder. Believing that the empty space is a bit complicated and the options are sticky (it is the same than to go through the 'Folder Options' dialog box), but it's probably the best approximation of what we need to do.

In fact, I'm used to it already, I just select the (second) option once synchronize the left pane and then deselect it immediately.

    Hi LeslieWeber,

-How long have you had this problem?

-What software changes you did on the computer before the show?

Follow these steps and see if the problem persists:

    Step 1:

Create a new user account and check if the problem is recurring in the newly created account.

    Step 2:

If the problem does not persist in the new user account, it could indicate that your old user account is corrupted.

  • Windows XP - Windows Explorer search the files hyperlink text

Navigation in the site of MS is rather hard to find where I have to post my question.  Please move it to the correct location. (Thank you)

I have a directory with some 400 documents (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) I want to search for "a word or a phase in the file" via Windows XP ' windows Explorer.

    Here's the question...

The text I'm looking for is in a hyperlink (i.e. to search for "docushare' in my files, but there is a link that looks like THIS); the research within a file does not see the content of the link.

My goal is to identify all documents in a directory that have a link to Docushare (for example).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with Windows Explorer and the recorded files

When I save files from the internet and then open the folder with Windows Explorer in the backed up files, I find that WE consider not save them on my hard drive "change" more. I know it's strange, but I tend to retain files roughly in the order that I saved them, rather than by the name of the file or anything else. So now to manually change the files in a certain way, then save them to get them organized as I want. Of course, this can become very painful and long if I have a lot of files to organize this way. My question is: How can I get Windows to consider saving a file on my HDD as change? I use Firefox and updated recently, which may be the cause of the problem.

    Hi Flingle,

Were you able to save and access files correctly before you update Firefox?

You can create a new folder & try to download the file inside of Internet Explorer & check if the problem persists.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • The SD card is accessible by a BB App and Windows Explorer at the same time?

    Hello

My requirement is that the SD card must be consulted by a BB App and Windows Explorer at the same time. But the BB app I developed is able to access the SD card only when the mass storage mode is turned off. Is this how the BB has designed or is it possible to have some logical coding for this?

    Thank you

    No, this is not possible.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

  • List of copy of the files from Windows Explorer in the form of text in an application...

Windows will always add something, or a menu item to copy a list of files in Windows Explorer in the form of text in an application?  I would like to run a DOS command (dir c: /s > c - example.txt) as I did years ago, but as I'm sure your aware, constantly been availible for years and your virtualization Windows MS-DOS command line is incompatible with my new computer... All solutions would be grately appreciated.

    Thank you
    Dave

    Hi Dave,.

I have good news for you:

There are two ways to do what you want:

The first is the simplest and is already in Windows 7 (and Vista by the way):

    1. highlight one or more files that you want to know the way in Explorer.
    2. press and hold the SHIFT keyand right-click on one of the highlighted files.
    3. when the popup menu appears, click the entry in the path of the copy which appeared as if by magic, because you're now the SHIFT key.

A slightly better method, IMO, but it takes a little extra work is to add an extension to the send menu to allow you to right-click on one or more files and choose send to-> Clipboard (as name).  This somehow me seems more practical, because I'm used to the way in which the rear PowerToys when.  Such an extension, which also adds a nice Panel to help you manage the menu send to, is a neat package small freeware called send to toys, by Gabriele Ponti, which can be downloaded here: http://www.gabrieleponti.com/software/index.html#sendtotoys

A nice feature of the program send to toys, is that you can even have it put quotes around any path to file that contains white space.  Practice indeed!

    I hope this helps!

Hi everyone I can't seem to fix this strange problem.

I can't use windows Explorer or the network drive mapping to access my NAS drive more.
I am running windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my PC, and until about a week ago she accessed from my PC very well.

The location could not be reached and have not been able to run since said today that I went to update it and the drive mapped. I'm at my wits end.

    Here is some info.

I can access to other computers and devices on my network.

    I can access the internet.
I have a windows XP PC in the House who can always connect to my fine NAS drive (even if it's not mine).
    I PING the NAS drive.
The NAS drive will do the same if connected via cable or by wireless.

UPDATE: after the implementation of a shared folder on a Windows XP computer on the same network I am also unable to acsess the part of my PC. So I can assume that I can't browse all share folders or NAS drives on my local network.

    Help, please.

Thanks for the help, but I fixed my problem

Here's what I did in case anyone wants to know.

I went into Device Manager and went to network adapters.
I then expanded this section and under view changed to display hidden items.
Several hundred elements appears (for most 6to4 adapters) and I deleted all the.
Then click scan for new hardware.

    Hi Ben Dean,

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file.

To run the System File Checker, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.

    2. in the area of results, right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as administrator. You will be asked to type the password for an administrator account. If you are the administrator or type the administrator password, click on continue. Then click on continue.

    3. at the command prompt, type Sfc/scannow, and then press ENTER.
