    I can't open command prompt? I have Windows 7 32 bit IE10

    Hi Paul,.

    Thanks for the reply.

Informs that invites flashed you and disappear when you open it.

Open the command prompt and check the entry of order in the Task Manager.

    Open the Task Manager.

  • frustration here command prompt

I know that SOMETIMES when you hold down the SHIFT key while clicking on a BLANK space in a window of Windows Explorer, you can get the "open command prompt here" to appear.
It also works if you hold the SHIFT key and right-click on a folder in this window to open a command prompt in that folder.

However, if I work with a lot of files in a folder and to run a command with a wildcard character, it is VERY difficult to get the "prompt here" to appear because there is not any space in the window.

Is there a way to always appear as the XP registry hack? I found this link, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/make-command-prompt-here-always-display-for-folders-in-Windows-Vista/

If I'm missing something, as a location for a click in a window FULL of files, please post the thing to "invite command here" appear when there is no empty space in the window.

Use a large window of the Explorer. If you don't have too many selected columns, the space to the right of the last column will serve your empty space.  If you have something selected, you must click once in the empty space to deselect. Then shift-right click in the same space and you will get the context menu with 'open command here window '.

As an alternative, create a batch file, say newcmd.bat, with a line like this:

    @for %% in (%1) @cmd /k cd /d % ~ dpf

Then make a right click any file, choose 'Open with' and get in your new .bat file.

If you only view files (they don't give you 'Open with'), shift-click-right, one of them and choose "open command here window.  When the window appears, type 'cd..'.  (You don't need a space after 'cd', but of course, it wouldn't hurt).  Lame, perhaps, but pretty fast.

If the .bat file line is not supposed, ask about the order FOR.  You miss out on improvements in automation.

  • "Can not open AsIO.sys (2)" I get this message when I log in after a reboot. I have search for the file, but can't find it with the research or the command prompt. What do do in this file, and can be created and put into the appropriate folder?

    Hi Jack,

This driver belongs to AsIO.sys Asus Probe. Try to uninstall Asus Probe and if you need, install again. If this does not help, uninstall Asus Probe and other tools of control such as Speedfan. Open the registry (regedit.exe) editor and search for AsIO.sys and remove all the entries that you can find.

  • Disk defragmentation does not open. Command prompt opens and closes in a fraction of a second

I've upgraded to windows 7 ultimate x 86 a few months on my Toshiba. Form below-

I ran Disk Defrag when it was Vista Home Basic before the upgrade. 2 days, I just cleaned my hard disk of 8 GB of free space to the 37 GB is now. I wanted to revive Disk Defrag. Don't ask why or say that I owe.
The point is, I can't even open the program. Is nothing in Task Scheduler. I had a 30 day trial Norton after my update for win 7. I noticed a lot of people blame anti virus for a reason, so I thought it should be mentioned.
This is what happens when I run Defrag.exe from the C:\Windows\System32 folder. (Note: the screen command prompt runs command sfc/scannow & found and given nothing wrong)
The prompt on the left window disappears quickly able to capture, and it seems important to my problem, I guess.
Why in the world can't run the Defrag.exe at all? Any help? I'm positive I want to install a third-party Defrag.
I hope that I asked the right way.
    Thank you
    Mickey

Well, that's the question. I can't access the UI anyway what so ever.

I decided to do a complete reset of the system and re - install Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer. The user interface of defragmentation works perfectly fine now. I guess I'll never know the problem I had, but at least it is fixed :)
Rajesh, thank you very much and thank you for your quick responses!

  • How to start a command prompt in a network folder in Windows 7?

I want to start a command prompt to a folder on the network. Anyone know how to do this in Windows 7?

Background: I followed the instructions from Microsoft to start a command prompt in a regular folder residing on the hard drive (see the article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/320148). While these instructions were for Windows XP, they will work under Windows 7. However, this will not work for any folder residing on other network players. You will get a window with the path command prompt "C:\Windows\system32 >. Is there a way to get the command prompt to display the path of the network folder I select in Windows Explorer?

Create a shortcut on the desktop for cmd.exe, then specify the desired folder of "start in".

  • Window command prompt of the blackBerry keeps opening with link software

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium - 64-bit. After link was last updated, I started to see an opening for a flash with what seems to be a running BACK in a window of the window command prompt.  I have tried several techniques to eliminate this disabling including startup commands. After a service at the local computer store, we thought we had it licked. First time I plugged my phone - nothing. The computer does not recognize it and I opened the link - this is the boring window was popping up again. I completely removed the link and voila - the window has passed. I've never had this with previous versions of link. Any suggestions?

  • How to stop windows 7 command prompt of opening and closing after boot start.

After I log in, and start early. Windows 7 command prompt quickly opens and closes Ran full scan of viruses/malware/etc. in safe mode with malwarebytes pro/norton360/counterspy/and spybot. All came clean. I would like to solve this problem. Can someone help me? Basic knowledge of computer/software. The computer is the last Gateway NV53.

    Hi ernestwade,

    Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Boot in safe mode network and check if the problem persists.

See options (including safe mode) advanced boot for instructions on how to start in safe mode with network.

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, start your system in a State of clean boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

See How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

Access is denied problem on command prompt when you try to overwrite a file in the system32 folder. I gave the control of user accounts affecting for never notify his still does not. I am running Win 7 Home Basic 64-Bit please help me get out of here

    You have two options:

    • Perform the action under high administrator privileges.
    • Turn off UAC (not recommended).
Why would you want to give users the right to modify files in the System32 folder? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

  • How do you do the command prompt window stay open after running a command?

OK, I feel stupid asking this, because I knew the answer before. I learn Visual C++ programming. The book I learn to write C++ and past then in details on the writing of the GUI from Visual C++ part. The book that I market me through compilation and to make an exe file in a cpp file, and then he said: go to the directory in Explorer and double click on the exe file. I do, and the command prompt appears a quick second before closing down. The example in the book shows the output, and the writer obviously has his guest configured to pause after executing an exe file.

I just set up my guest to do the same thing, so I can at least see the results. I know that running the exe I wrote, but I would like to see the output for less than a second.

I don't know how you code this. But if it's like a normal batch or whatever it is command line related.

Follow these steps to use a switch defined by the user at the end of the script.

To pause a file of DOS commands under Windows XP, continue to the next command, you can use the PAUSE command. Make request to the user with the text:

Press any key to continue. . .

Then the batch file is waiting for the user to press a button. However, if you want to pause a batch file and display anything? Simply redirect the results to no one as follows:

    pause > null

Given that it is perhaps not very useful (how will the user know they need to press a key to continue the batch file?) you display a different prompt. Issue a command with your desired guest ECHO, and then issue the break preceding > no command.

For example, to pause a batch file of Windows XP with the prompt "Press ENTER to run the command", use the following commands:

echo press ENTER to run the command
    pause > null

  • Trying to delete a folder from the command prompt: access denied.

So, I just get everything from my old computer to a new computer, and now I have a bunch of additional folders and files that I can't get rid of.  I can't support, I get an error when I do this.  I can't remove them through a command prompt, it gives me the same error I get when I try to take possession or delete normally.  How can I get rid of these files?

    Hey BetterWithLinux,

Have you tried running in Admin mode?
Give that a try and let us know your results.
