  OK, so this has nothing to do with Thunderbird. It's your computer that has questionable settings.

  I guess that's what you have configured in YOUR computer the software to open .doc files.
  You can download Open Office for free and open most of all the files that will open the office suite. Then, simply put YOUR computer to use instead of office.

  The App Store has to do with your documents?

  The App Store allows you to buy and download Apps, as its name suggests.

  In Windows Mail, I can not open .doc files, I get the error that it is not associated, and he tries to search in appdata/IE5 for a reason any.  PDF, PPT, XLS all work fine.  I tried unassoc to unassociate file types for .doc and .docx associate then again these via Control Panel and it STILL does not work.  I'm at the end of my home please help.

  I had to remove the regedit.  for some reason the mail windows refuses to unassociate so go to regedit, I don't like playing with regedit, but it worked, I deleted and then again, all ok now.

  Cannot open DOC files in wordpad or Notepad. you will need a more advanced software suite. Try OpenOffice.org - it's free, and it supports the DOC format. But the best solution is to get Microsoft Office once and for all.

  just remove the entry from the windows of the spare part and then try and open a doc file. The entry will be recreated using your answers.

  I use Firefox v12 to open a hyperlink to a Web site that points to a door MS Word Document to download.

  Then, we are asked to open the file with MS Word (default), which is our installed version of MS Word 2010.

  Firefox then renames the file by adding a .docx file name for example filename.doc.docx. MS Word 2010 opens with the error "invalid file format", which is correct that Firefox has renamed.

  Is there a fix or a workaround for this?

  You can try to delete the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all the actions file.

• Cannot open doc liked numbers in numbers 3.6.1

  Hi community support.

  Here's the problem for which I can't find a solution or difficulty.

  I have a doc of numbers created originally in May 2011 (not sure of the version of numbers) that I use to create invoices for tax (Australia) asked for my clients. This doc includes models of tax invoice 3 and all 33 created in previous tax bills until the last of them on June 14, 2015. I have not used since June 2015.

  During the time since this time, I upgraded via the apple store at numbers 3.6.1 what it was in June last year (I always keep up to date such as recommended). I've also updated to El Capitan, then 10.11.2. I tried to upgrade to 10.11.3 but it crashed my login and Apple technology recommends that going back to 10.11.2 via the time machine, I did.

  The iMac that I am working on is the latest Retina display with a fusion drive. I say this in order to have a complete, although table according to me, is not relevant to my problem.

  Now, today until now, any time I open this doc numbers (in item 3.6.1 such that it will not open in ' 09 in any case) that is essentially read-only. i.e. I cannot edit, add pages to it etc, etc. All options except non-edition a few items are grayed out.

  So far...

  (1) I searched other forums nothing helps mac users online apple files and general help.

  (2) I went into the preferences of this file and fact ensure that the lock is disabled (it wasn't to begin with) and that all users can read + write this file and then I left the small lock symbol in the lower right corner unlocked.

  (3) I opened another old file which I have not seen for more than two years and it opens fine. It was a model of Bill and saves the worksheets - similar to this, but one for a different company.

  (4) there is no password on the file locking. I did not have a top and should not be on this subject. When I go to set a password, he returned to set a new password and do not ask for a former.

  I am at a loss and my end to what the issue is - besides knowing that the file is read only for a reason any. Obviously, this is an important document (tax statements) that I find the access to, use.

  probably, you were trying to print the document and are still in the configuration of the preview before printing.  type the ESC key or click the 'Complete' on the bottom right of the window

I get an error message indicating that a file cannot be opened because it is an RTF file. I also noticed that when I start to transfer the files, the small window that opens does not me the possibility to convert - it is grayed out.   You must save the files as real documents Word on your PC first.

  WordToGo on your BlackBerry will open MS Word documents.
