Open doc attachents without Microsoft Office

Every email client I've ever used automatically found WordPerfect to open doc files. I think that Thunderbird did this initially. But now he sends me to Microsoft which offers to sell me a Word.

Why Thunderbird is not the default working program rather than with a Microsoft Word application?

Or how can I tell it to do this?

At the present time, I have to save the file on WP, then open it. Without hope.

OK, so this has nothing to do with Thunderbird. It's your computer that has questionable settings.

Now in the in the start menu control panel
Open the default programs applet and select associate a file type or Protocol with a program
Look for the entry of the .doc file and correct it.

I hope that by "striking" means you actually "Uninstall", as simply delete the files/folders of programs can cause all sorts of issues. • Why can not open .doc attachments without having to pay for the Office?

I get attachments for a lawyer to use land and other, and sometimes they will be .doc instead of pdf. I get that a lot of them to justify the cost of the Office ($6.99) per month. Why keep this office? Thanks.Phil

I guess that's what you have configured in YOUR computer the software to open .doc files.
You can download Open Office for free and open most of all the files that will open the office suite. Then, simply put YOUR computer to use instead of office.

    Hello!

You will need to download either

    https://www.OpenOffice.org/

    or
    https://www.LibreOffice.org/

These are completely 100% free office suites. They work as good as Microsoft Office, or better yet, I should say.

  • I told wrongly Thunderbird to open only attachments in microsoft office and do not ask again but have no microsoft office, how can I cancel it?

I don't want to have to buy Microsoft office just to open these attachments, I just hit the wrong key. Help, please!

Tools > Options > Annexes > Incoming tab
On the left you will see "Content Type"
Look for the type of document
On the right, it will say what measures to use.
Currently, he will say for example: "use microsoft Office Word.
Click the action to get a drop down menu.
You can choose another program from the list, for example: OpenOffice writer
If it does not show in the list, select the option "use other" to see more options.
But you need to have 'OpenOffice' installed in order to select it.

Don't forget to click on all the OK etc.

    OpenOffice is a free software.

  • What is Windows 8 without Microsoft Office inside?

I just bought a new computer, it came with windows 8 and no word from Microsoft. I used that word 2003 and it worked fine with my school, APUS, but I can't afford the 2013 version so my son loaded 2007 but now it does not work with my school. I'm so frustrated. What good would I have version 8, if I can't use it at all. What a scam

Original title: speak to technical support

From Microsoft Office 2007, the format in which Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.), the files are saved is different from the format used in Office 2003 applications.

Word 2007 and newer versions can, however, save documents in the old format if you wish.

If you look at the extension of file name (the part after the dot), you will see that the files produced by Office 2007 and later versions end with an x.  For example, a Word 2003 file may be named mydocument.doc while the same file saved by Word 2007 would be mydocument.docx

If your school only accepts files in the old format (* .doc), just use the function "save under" when you save a file in Word and select the 'Save as type' be "Word 97-2003 Document (* .doc).  Once you've saved a document in the older format, you can simply use 'Save' (rather than ' save under ') to record subsequent changes in the document.

  • How do I open the .snp with Microsoft Office 2007 files is installed? It works with MS Office 2003, but not with MS Office 2007!

I have MS Office Pro Plus 2007 is installed on my computer. I also MS Office 2003 is installed on a different computer. Snapshot viewer is installed on both. My snapshot of work files works with MS Office Access 2003 but not recognized by MS Office Access 2007. It would allow me to save them either! Is this a problem with FireFox (3.6.8)? However, I have no problem, open them using IE7/8 on both computers. Any ideas? Thank you.

I heard about other problems with Office 2007 to 2003, but most of the people do not have Pro/business versions with access, so maybe there's a previously unnoticed problem.

As indicated in my previous post, I don't always understand how you try to access the file. Can you right click and "save link as" to download?

  • When I try to open an attachment text I only get the microsoft office Picture Manager icon and can't click on anything

When I ry to open an attachment, I only get the microsoft office Picture Manager icon and can't click on anything to view the file, which must be a text document.

When I ry to open an attachment, I only get the microsoft office Picture Manager icon and can't click on anything to view the file, which must be a text document.

What is the extension of fixing this "text"?
The last 3 letters of the attachment is the file extension.

If the last 3 letters... are doc, you need Microsoft Office Word or Microsoft WordViewer.
Here is the link to MS Word Viewer: this is a free program.

  • How to open a. File TIFF using Microsoft Office Picture Manager?

For some reason, the program by default-Set associations will not replace Quick time.  I can't open a tiff file.  I have Itunes & Quick Time player installed.  I want to open the files using Microsoft Office Picture Viewer tiff and I set my default to open tiff and tif files in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  However, when I click on a tiff file to open it, the system tries to open using Quick Time Viewer and then I get a white screen with "done" at the bottom.  When I uninstall QuickTime, tiff files will open as expected in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.  How ideas keep Quick Time installed and still be able to open tiff files?

    I found a solution.

    Go to regedit.

    Search: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Type\image/tiff

The named CLSID value just right-click and choose Remove.   ("CLSID" = "{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69}")

    Click Yes to confirm.

{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69} is the QuickTime ActiveX module.

    Problem solved.

  • Can I move Microsoft Office on my new computer?

My old computer is fried and I need my Microsoft Office programs in order to finish College and I need them while I'm working. Is it not possible for me to place them on an external hard drive and move them to the new computer without problems? (I'm not made of money and can hardly afford to my new computer let alone to buy programs all over again)

    Hello ForsakenSora,

You can physically move it to an external drive, and then install it on your other PC unless you downloaded the copy of Microsoft Office. If it was preinstalled on your PC and that you purchased Office then you should have a disk with office on it provided by the PC manufacturer.

If you purchased a retail version, here again, you should have the discs and you can install it on their part. You must have the product key provided with the software number in order to activate the office.

There are versions of programs running free indeed similar to Office. An example is that openoffice (www.openoffice.org), at the request of that Office is completely free to download and use. It will also open documents created in Microsoft Office.

    1. right click on the .doc file > click Open with > click on Microsoft Office Word
If you have not opened with option in your context menu, please use this tutorial to install it. Open with option is VERY useful.
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/140508-context-menu-enable-disable.html
    Use One - via download.

    2. this one is more elaborate.
Start > default programs > associate a type of file or Protocol with a program > wait loading > under a name that is at the top on the left, scroll down to find .doc > until it clicks > look all right > under current default, he should tell Microsoft Office Word...
If it is not the case, click on change program... top > search for Microsoft office Word and click > OK when finished.

Note: If you have problems with file association, use the same method and set the program appropriate for your current default this file extension.
