  I just recently got rid of a bunch of virus (Norton AntiVirus) from my computer (Vista). And now whenever I try to open a box program 'open with' opens and has only Notepad as a choice. • Could not open the xls for some reason any

  When I try to open a XLS file with numbers 3.6.1 I get the error message ' cannot be opened for some reason any. "

  I tried to change the type of file csv and txt but neither technique gives readable results.

  I also tried to fix HD Mac (in fact a SSD) with disk utility and reboot, but that did not help either.

  Hi Dick,

  Change the extension (.csv or .txt) is not any change in the type of file.

  Assuming that, since you posted in the numbers for the Mac community and state what version 3.6.1 a number you're on a Mac (and not using iOS 8 on your iPad), you can try opening the file using LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice. Both are free to download and use. If none of them opens the file, it is probably corrupted. If they can open the file, there may be a compatibility problem between this file and the numbers. Try registering LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice (like a MS Excel file), then try opening thaat version saved in number.

I installed it I restarted my computer and when I oppened it some programs were missing in the bar to the left of the clock, and the taskbar was loading, but programs were not loading.   Almost everyone I have spoken was this glitch.   Someone at - it a fix for this?

• for some programs screen size is too small and I can't expand. This is especially true for some programs of online games like bridge base online.

  Some programs to fill only a part of the space available on the monitor (maybe 25%).  The size is too small to use more easily.  I notice it especially with some of the online training programs.

  • This happens to you with a game or all games?

  Do a right click and go to the shortcut properties and find the box where it says 'run' pass the value normal in full screen.

  If this does not help, configure the following setting and check:

  (1) right-click on the game shortcut icon, click on properties.
  (2) on the shortcut tab, go to run.
  (3) in the drop-down list, select expand.
  (4) click on apply to apply the setting.
  5) click Ok to confirm the change.

  Also, I suggest you try changing the hardware acceleration, here are the steps to change the hardware acceleration.

  1. Select start > Control Panel
  2. in the window of the Control Panel, click appearance and personalization
  3. click on personalization > display settings, and then click Advanced settings.
  4. go in the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.
  Note: The settings will be disabled if the graphics card driver does not support disabling hardware acceleration.
  5. move the hardware acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None. It is the basis of acceleration.
  6. click OK twice, and then close the window.

• Problem of print dialog box. Cannot change the selection of the printer. Box is stuck on Canon Fax series printer in the dialog for some programs, but not all programs.

  I'm on mac os, 10.11, with the latest version of illustrator on a MBP with two screens (external no retina display). For some reason, illustrator is ontop of all the other windows. This happens just about once a fortnight and was held for a while. Happens to the illustrator, no other application on my system.

• Security Administrator in Windows vista, some programs cannot uninstall problem.

  Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware; MSE is an anti-virus.

  They are 2 completely different things.

  These days, you need these two types of emissions; but CERTAINLY, you must have an antivirus installed.

  Windows Defendar is an anti-spyware program.

  And MSE, AVG, McAfee, etc. has conflicts or turns them off Windows Defender.

  Use MSE and the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for your security programs...

  And use by default the builtin Vista Firewall; It is very good.

  In my opinion, you have not need of 3rd party firewall, such as Zone Alarm.

  I'll try from Firefox Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode. If you do not have the issue so that all your modules, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the guide to troubleshooting Extensions and themes and article troubleshooting issues with plugins like Flash or Java to solve common Firefox problems as well.
