Open source routed wrong frame IP checksum recalculation

I am a student and by my experiences of the course work, I discovered that this problem:

Bad IP header checksum calculation problem appears when Windows retransmits IP frames with the free source route option of different lengths (tested for ICMP and UDP payload).

Example of treatment of the standard Windows ICMP ping query:

Three hosts:
10.0.1.1 - Windows 7 Enterprase SP1 32 - bit Build 7601 v6.1
10.0.1.2 - Windows 7 Enterprase SP1 32 - bit Build 7601 v6.1
10.0.1.3 - Ubuntu 12.10 quantum 3.5.0 - 17-generic #28 - Ubuntu Linux SMP kills 9 Oct 19:32:08 UTC 2012 i686

10.0.1.1 and 10.0.1.2 connected Ethernet cable
10.0.1.2 and 10.0.1.3 connected by an ad-hoc WiFi connection
10.0.1.2 has network bridge between the wireless network connection and local network connection
10.0.1.2 has routing and remote access service running and in the window save the folder key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/services/Tcpip/Parameters are defined: IPEnableRouter = 1 and DisableIPSourceRouting = 0.

This will seriously put a bad dent in the cycle of development of Tablet.

    Article:

That pisses me off, and the realization that I can't do anything about it only makes it worse. What good is the unlocked bootloader on the Xoom if you can't build custom ROMs for the damn thing? Andy Rubin goes on to tell Bloomberg "Android is an open-source project. We have not changed our strategy." You could have fooled me, Andy.It gets worse. Bloomberg says Google executives have told manufacturing partners that Google will not release the source code, and instead the next open-source version of Android will be the "I" version. This in essence kills all third-party development for tablets running Honeycomb.

    alphabetaone,

I understand and share your concern, but what happens if Google is ~ 6 months away from releasing the next generation of operating system Android (code named 'Ice cream')? The word on the street is that ice cream will merge phones and tablets in a single operating system Android, so even our shelves would respectively honeycomb. In such a situation, is it possible that Google might want to keep more controlled application development until there? I can't imagine that they would change their overall posture on open sourcing, which is a major advantage over the competition. I wonder if it is more of an intermediate state to the Tablet market, and they intend to move into the open gear of supply with the introduction of ice cream (after all, who doesn't like ice cream?). They need all the edge on the fruit they can get, maybe the next OS relies on this Tegra 2 more power, we have all been here?

Just a thought that it might in fact be more to what meets the eye.

If you are looking for free antivirus programs, you might consider Free AVG or AVAST.  Both are highly rated.  I use AVG on most of my computers at home but is currently using AVAST on my main computer.  AVAST has a tendency to be a little less intrusive, it does not require reboot as often as AVG when it only updates frequently.  Lately AVG is requiring a restart, every month or more often, seems, I don't remember the last time AVAST was forcing me to restart the machine, at least, it's much less common than AVG Free.

  • GMA 3600 driver for Open source OS?

I just wanted to know if Acer provides drivers for Open source OS, such as Linux. I have an a D270 Aspire and tried to find the apropriate for Debian-based OS drivers.

Of course, I know that it is a world of free market, so I could just sell this computer and give up once and for all on Acer. But I want to be sure that this isn't a serious company before doing this.

    Daniel,

We have unity of that ship with Linux as well, and for those of the unit, we support them with appropriate drivers. Recently, the E1-431 was sold through several retailers with Linpus Linux.

HP and Dell can ship different products with various Linux distributions, and I know that our marketing teams look at these trends and make decisions about markets and what people are looking for.

I went and checked some of our competitors and I found the same concepts, if a unit is only included with Windows, they seem not to be provide Linux drivers. Here is an example. http://imgur.com/anaH70G

I hope you find the driver you need, or the laptop that takes care of your needs. Again, I apologize that you are looking for Linux support is not available on the D270.

  • HP Open-source drivers/firmware (for Windows)?

I found the HP has open source drivers for Linux systems.

    http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-Web/about.html

Drivers of Windows/firmwares are also available as open source?

It would be great, if they were (because I had a lot of problems with them in the past), but I couldn't find the source anywhere.

I think that the users and HP could benefit a lot if the community could help pilots better and more user-friendly.

Andras_Fuchs, the answer is no, we don't have a free software for our printers. Is it possible to change the software - Yes, it is. I can personally recommend this because I do not know the ramifications of such action myself.

Also, these drivers are available for the basic software edition (major patches) because it's open source, programming of entry that matches the OS is very difficult, that is why we cannot guarantee the functioning of drivers if the BONE is altered.

I hope this information is useful!

    > mini requires custom wifi, NDS or other modules as EEA?

Briefly, I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on the Mini Mi 1110NR.  All the material has been supported.  WiFi required a pilot non-free which is installable repositories.  However, I came back to HP Linux, as I found 8.10 resume not always inactive.

I suppose that this phenomenon was linked to the wifi drivers.  I spent 0 time troubleshooting, because I like the interface of HP and generally prefer Ubuntu 8.04 is based distro of HP, anyway.

    A few tips:

    -Open a terminal: ALT - F2 gnome-terminal

-sudo apt - get install gdebi to install the front end pretty .deb that Ubuntu is provided with.  This allows things like installing files .deb on internet

-MIE repositories have had so far of each package of 8.04.1 standard I've ever used.  HP limit what is available via Add/Remove... don't try to prevent people from apt - get install what they want.  It's very appreciated.  I hope that Asus based on this.

-J' found the sound quality to be terrible, the problem was a package: idt-alsa-eq-plugin I would remove just that.

-Adobe Reader is bloated for a machine with 8 GB SSD.  apt - get, remove it and install mozplugger.  It will use Evince to embed a PDF file in a browser window

-Thingie from USB HP recovery works very well.  There is a text .cfg file that allows you to twist/remove the recovery partition as swap.  My 8GB SSD comes with only 2.1 GB free, they allocated 1 GB for recovery (very good, but not necessary if you do a recovery USB disk) and a huge 2 GB for swap.  (!!)  Why on earth they did it is beyond me.  I reinstalled from the USB and abandoned the recovery partition, made 256 MB swap.

-Shortcuts can be found in usr/share/applications/*.desktop.  I copied one to make a .desktop for gnome-terminal entry.

That's all I can think of at the moment.  I must say, HP and Canonical did a job with the user interface.  Just the right combination of easy to use and flexible.  Great stuff.

Yesterday, I used my new Mini to troubleshoot a ThinkPad C2D Vista 7lb to 1 GB of RAM.  The Mini could fly circles around her.  10 minutes to start, without exaggeration.
