Opening ERD in Data Modeling

I am using Data Modelling 2, build 570.
A colleague gave me a DRE that he had created with this tool, an XML format.
I copied this DRE and made a few changes and saved. But the next day when I tried to open this modified version, nothing came. I briefly saw the thermometer bar that appears when the ERD is to be loased, but after that, nothing seemed in the 'Logic' tab. Does anyone know why? Thank you.

Thank you that's what I needed.

When a drawing is saved, an xml because it is created with a directory structure with logic, disorders, models etc.
In your case, it seems that many files are missing, because there is so much. FileNotFoundException in H:\NE-FIMS\nefims_mqrs_101810Changes

You can write the following:
You try to open the H:\NE-FIMS\nefims_mqrs_101810Changes.xml and is there a H:\NE-FIMS\nefims_mqrs_101810Changes\ folder?
"... A colleague gave me a DRE that he had created with this tool, an XML format... "- do you know what version your colleague used to create this DR., it was newer than yours?
" ... I copied this DRE and made a few changes and saved... "- you copy the tree entire, or just the xml design?

It would be useful to study the question.

Thank you
Ivaylo

  • Can not see all the stored procedures in the Entity Data Model Wizard

I hope it is a simple oversight on my part I try to use the new beta version of odp.net with entity framework support. I can open the Entity Data Model Wizard, give him my information database, and I can choose various tables to use successfully. But in the list where I select the tables, views and stored procedures, the wizard does not see my stored procs or my point of view.

Does anyone know why he would see the tables but not views or stored procedures? My procs can be found under "packages" If that makes a difference. I tried to create a fictional stored procedure at the level above the title of 'procedures', but it is unclear whether.

Is it possible for me to debug this from here? The log files, I could watch that would help me?

    Thank you
    Jim

I belive your Oracle database 10 g such as 9iR2 predates.
ODP/EF Beta does not list the stored procedures or functions when connect you to a database Oracle 10 g before.

    Readme.txt:
    4. the procedures are not compatible with the DB 9.2.
Thus, there is no stored procedure listed by the EDM Wizard for 9.2 DBs.

  • V4.1.1.887 Data Modeler - 8 opens and displays only the areas of my design of the file

Yesterday I was working in my design of the database with data v4.1.1.887 maker and then saved work in file and closed the application.

And today, something bad happened, the application opens my design but only displays a list of the areas that I created for my design.

I can't display in the Explorer window of my: logic model, structured data types that I created, process and business information model diagrams.

I migrated to v4.1.1.888 Data Modeler and the problem persists, then looked at the previous issues resolved in the forum and found an answer to a similar case of problem

4.0EA2 (v4.0.0.820) Data Modeler after accepting migration from previous installation of v3.3.0.747 DM preferences settings.

So I deleted the files preferences (I use Windows Vista) C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Oracle SQL Developer data Modeler\system4.0.0.887 and 8, but the problem persists there.

I also looked at the directory of the files that make up my design, and the size and the number of them seem to be without significant alteration I looked a few days ago.

Can give me a solution to this problem?

    Hi David,

After some research and testing, I finally solved the problem. I did the following:

I deleted the text value from my memory of java in the java Control Panel of windows,

    I deleted the 4.1.1. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\datamodeler\4.1.1 carpet

I changed the memory to-Xmx2048m in datamodeler.conf in the datamodeler\datamodeler\bin folder

then tried to start the Data Modeler but never value began, then reduced to-Xmx1024m and he began

and not migrated preferences the next time I opened the Data Modeler and set preferences with utf-8 (I noticed it comes by default with coding cirillic)

I closed and restarted datamodeler the external newspaper and made settings worked very well.

Then I started to test with 3 versions of my design work for this month, their sizes are 5MB, 10MB, 10.1 MB the recent

I opened and closed each oldest works to the latest and the oldest two worked fine without error in the external journal.

However, the recent open all the drawings but I found an opening in the external log error:

I checked the Objects.local file and it's there. then I closed the design without saving changes and ended Datamodeler application.

Then I opened the Objects.local with Notepad ++ and I found and structure XML and the data that I wrote in my family business contact section has disappeared from the design

I restarted Datamodeler opened and closed my recent design and that article accompanied by white, the datamodeler clos

Search the file and noted increased its size 153 MB so she tried to open it with notepad ++ but it crashed.

So I compared the previous Objects.local files and they are content equal and I did not modify this related part and the IDS are the same.

I then removed the big Objects.local bad and replaced it with the previous version of the file and then started to Datamodeler

and my recent design opens and closes fine without errors in the external journal.

I think your application when open a file and found a critical error Stops to load the file and reports the external newspaper but if a non-critical error

It displays the design and the log window does not show something goes wrong, in my case, I was not aware of this.

  • Data Modeler > file > open

When I run the newest data Modeler (4.0.0.833) without using SQL Developer, I don't have the ability to open a file from a previous session of the Modeler 3.x DMD.

This new version requires the use of SQL Developer?  I like to use the Modeler as a stand-alone tool.

    Hello

I just found this post on a similar problem with Data Modeler 3.0: 30EA2 problem: Menu items is not available

I suggest you try to delete or rename the file C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler\system4.0.0.833 (and when it asks if you want to migrate settings from a previous version, I suggest say you no).

If this fails to solve the problem, you can also try to rename the folder parent C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeling (but this will also affect settings for previous versions of data Modeler you have).

  • Data Modeler: the empty namespace at the opening of physical model

    Data Modeler 2.0.0 build 584

I am experiencing strange behavior when opening a physical model recorded previously.
For some tables, primary keys, and unique keys names are empty.
Objects that exhibit this problem seem to be random, but which can be otherwise when I hit on a rational model that I have not yet found.
Also, the generated DDL statements do not contain the name.

    Initial situation:
    Data Modeler is not running.
A data model called MyTestModel including a relational model and a physical model.
It contains the table named APP_TEST and several other tables.

    1. research in the APP_TEST XML to the model of relationship level I see the correct name APP_TEST.
(The xml file is located in the MyTestModel\rel\ < RelationModelNumber > \table directory)
If I look at the APP_TEST xml file I see the correct name (APP_TEST) for the table in the physical model.
    (The xml file is located in the MyDataModel\rel\ < RelationModelNumber > \phys\ < PhysicalModelId > \Table directory)
    2. then I launch Data model and open MyDataModel.
There is no visible physical model for the model of relationship at this point.
The table at the level of the relationship model shows the name APP_TEST. (Also when you open the properties for the table).
I open the physical model for Oracle Database11g I saved at the previous session and open the node tables.
The APP_TEST table has a name, while the other tables have their correct names.
Do not open the properties for the table APP_TEST the Name property on the general tab is empty, even no space character.
    3. I fill APP_TEST for the Name property, click apply and then OK to exit the properties.
The physical model is saved and closed. MyTestModel is saved and closed and I out Modeler data.
4 search for xml files, I see the name APP_TEST is correct for the table at the relational level and the physical model.
    5. I start Data Modeler and reopen MyTestModel. The name of the table is empty again at the level of the physical model.

    More observations:
-When you register a different name (IE APP_TEST_2) from the original at the level of the physical model, the name is preserved when the reopening of the model. Again change its name of origin APP_TEST and name is empty again at the reopening.
-Fill in name, save, close, and reopen physical model MyTestModel without closing (and savings) shows the same behaviour. If the problem seems really are the physical model.
-Do not fill in the name (leaving blank) but change a unique key for APP_TEST to the level of the physical model. After you save and close the xml file now also contains an empty name.
-The same behavior is observed for the primary and unique keys. These keys can belong to a table with an empty name, but also to a table with the name.

Empty names are very problematic because Data Modeler uses the names of the physical model to generate DDL statements.
Someone at - it problems experienced like that or knows how to get around them?

    Thank you
    Enrico

    Hi Enrico,.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. This behavior is observed when you open the design created with a previous version of the Data Modeler. Physical template names follow the names of relational model if you do not explicitly change them - then name of physical model is used. I hope that the next version will solve your problem.

knows how to work around the

the only solution is to change a property in the files, it should be:

in your case, it is true instead of false.

  • Treat the AVL ATF error file in the opening AVL recorder data

We test our engines with AVL testbed. After the series of tests, we got the result of the test stored as FAT filesystem. According to AVL test bench specifications, Puma Open settings and data are stored in format ASAM ODS (Open Data Services). This means that the data structure conforms to the ASAM standards.

But while we try to use the Diadem software for process AVL data file, we found something strange. The problem is that the tiara can open all other groups of the AVL ATF file as "AND" "EM" etc except the recorder group. Test data recorded by AVL Puma cannot open the Diadem software. The tiara channel shows "Novalue".

Could someone tell me the reason and the solutions?

Thanks for reporting the problem. I logged a bug.

You can view together as "list of system types" directory to "preference > Data Modeler"-probably no longer exists. I guess that the setting for this directory is empty when you start SQL Dev as a different user.

  • Data Modeler, view associated physical model

    Hello community,

is there a way to create a physical model associated with view in the Data Modeler or a better idea?

The reason is simple, let me say, I have a view with the concatenation of strings and wants to use this view in oracle and sql server, the syntax is different.

    In Oracle, it is "" column1 | "" ' || Column2. The same in sql is "Column1 + ' ' + Column2.

    Best regards, Henrik

    Hi Henrik,

You can change the view definition physical model so you can have correct DOF when the physical model is open and generation of DDL is for this model

Note that changing the definition of property in the physical model works only if you change the definition to contain the full DDL statement.

And you have to go CREATE VIEW view-name AS

or CREATE or REPLACE VIEW view-name AS

  • Determinations of web OPA shows white screen when you use the data model

    Hello

I use Oracle Policy Modeling 10.5.5.40 on windows 7. I use embedded apache tomcat to test.

I have started a new project, added a simple rule:

[b1] the parent is eligible for the benefits of compassion so

    [b2] parent has a child

I chose 'Build and Run' selected web determinations, work very well.

When I added a data model, created two entities, parent-child, and the child is contained in the parent as to-many, then ran the project, it won't work any more. The section that says:

    =========

    is absent.

I also tried to open an example of "MembershipDemo" that comes with OPM, same problem.

Any ideas how can I fix?

    Thank you very much

Looks like you have probably changed the Boolean value "the parent is eligible for compassionate care benefits" from the global to the parent. This means that is no longer a goal because it is a single Boolean value that can be determined, it is now a Boolean value for each parent in the rule template.

The goal that presents itself as the first screen in your interview display all the high-level objectives - that is, all objectives at the global level.

Some possible solutions to get a goal for your interview may are:

    1. If you try to determine cbb for 1 single parent, then you probably shouldn't introduce a parent entity, use the global as a parent

2 introduce a global "all determined the eligibility of the BCC of parents" trying to see if "the parent is eligible for compassionate care benefits" is known to all parents

3 decide which is the highest level (s) for your interview and to introduce these Boolean values to the global level.

  • Question by showing the data model in reports of 11 g

    Hello

I'm working on forms and reports on 11 g. I have a problem with the reports.

After opening an existing report, I am unable to view the queries in the data model. The data model page is open, but immediately, it pops up a window saying generator stopped working. He has no problem working with the rest of reports such as the use of the document layout, etc.

Could someone help me with this problem?

(Sorry, i, m not able to add any image with this)

    Thanks in advance.

You use the 64-bit Oracle Forms and reports 11 GR 2 version? If you are, it's a known bug with 64-bit report designer. As long as you use not Sources of pluggable data (PDS) in your reports, you can implement workaround in the following article:

    http://Pitss.com/us/2012/10/10/reports-Builder-11gr2-crashes-when-viewing-data-model/

This should solve the problem with the help of the data model in the generator of reports without it crashing.

    Thank you

  • The relationship "designed to" make visible in the Data Modeler?

    Hello

I was wondering about the following topic:

When I create (engineer), a table based on its entity, there is a relationship between the entity and the table.

So to speak: a relationship "carried out by".

This relationship can be demonstrated in Data Modeler?

    If so,.

-can we use them to navigate a table to the entity and vice versa

-can we maintain, in the case of design changes and changes to the execution table?

I know that the relationship is available in the xml file that stores the table (Table > generatorID), but I am unable to see / use the relationship in the Data Modeler itself.

    Kind regards

    Art

    Hi Art,

There is a section "Impact analysis" in the entity and table dialog boxes. Under the 'Mapping' node you will see mapped objects and can open the box from there.

You cannot create or modify the mappings manually for now.

Thanks for reporting this.  We recently became aware of this problem, which occurs when the opening of the models in EA3 created using SQL Developer version 3 or version 3 Data Modeler.

This should be corrected in the next version.

When it is available, we recommend that you use the original definition of version 3 of your model, rather than any version may have registered with EA3.
