OptiPlex specs - where?
Before I retired several years ago, that I used to buy a large number of Optiplex computers for the company I worked for. Now I was invited to focus on some computers for a local City Office on a voluntary basis, but the Dell site has apparently changed. I have trouble finding some of the important details that I used to be able to find such as the number and types of locations of expansions, the berries available numbers for hard disks, the number of places available for RAM, the size of the PS, etc. You used to be able to go to Tech Specs and information would be listed is there somewhere else I should be looking?

Dear Experts,
I am unable to find the "ATA" option in dell optiplex 3040mt. where might not deploy top Windows Server 2008 image.
In dell 3020 I deploy the image using ATA mode.
Please tell us how to activate the "ATA" option in Optiplex 3040 and install windows server 2008.Thank you!
Jesse There is no option in 3040 because the ATA mode is no longer supported. F6 drivers are REQUIRED for windows 7, 8 or 10. XP/VISTA is not supported at all and will not be installed.
AHCI is the only option available in the modern Bios and chipsets.
The INTEL RST F6 drivers are REQUIRED for all advanced sector format 4 k drives. Most of all the readers

The Portege 7140 (HDD, memory) upgrade
Hello
I recently bought a second hand Portege through eBay. I did a little research and I feel that the 7140 has a Bay memory expansion in which I can put a stick of memory of 32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, or 256 MB. Toshiba sells only a maximum of 128 MB, but Kingston sells a key of 256 MB for laptop. The 256 MB will work fine?Second question - can stick any disk drive 2.5 "EIDE in the laptop? Is there a technical specification somewhere that lists the BIOS revision against the sizes of drive support?
Last question - I have not actually received the laptop again and read the pdf data sheet it seems as if she isn't an internel floppy drive? If this is correct, the only way I'll be able to upgrade the bios is through the windows, is this correct? The only problem, if this is the case, it's that I use Linux not Windows. I might have to buy an external floppy drive.
In any case thank you for any help or suggestions anyone may have.
Jon
Hi Spinksi,
Colleague of mine has the same machine at home. He put 256 MB of RAM and it works fine. Its RAM is manufactured by Toshiba. You can also use RAM Kingston.
There's also a 20-GB HARD drive. It works fine. Before changing do updating BIOS HARD drive. You can find the latest Version on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin under download BIOS. You'll find Toshiba BIOS update Description. Read it before you continue. It is very important.
So I know we're no sort of spec where you can find data on the BIOS and disk sizes.
Answer to your last question is: you're right. Portege had no floppy drive, and you need to update the BIOS. But I'm sure you can find cheap one by ebay.
Good bye

where should I put Java Servlet Spec
Hi all
I am trying to install Oracle Application Express Listener where he needs Java Servlet 2.3 Spec. I got the Spec downloaded, but I don't know where I should put it. How is it difficult to find documentation on this subject? Help, please...
I am currently using Linux 64.
Best regards
TA.This simply means that you must run in a container that support this version of the specification or later. For example, Tomcat 6, Glassfish 3 or in fact anything you will encounter these days.

spec'ing a system - where to direct the $$?
Greetings-
I spec'ing a new system for, among other things, running Lightroom and wondered, all other things being equal, moreover (which they never are),
where typical bottlenecks will drop. Or lie.
In general, I'll be cataloguing/edition of RAW images that are 10 to 15MB in size. And it is a hobby, not a business.
My goal is to get a computer that's fast enough without spending more than I have to.
And suppose that, for now, I'll just to have a monitor, but an upgrade
path for two monitors would be nice (and isn't that involves, in any case - a second card - graphic?
simultaneous use of the integrated graphics card and graphics card?).
First question - a reason, I would need more than 4 GB of RAM and, if so, under what circumstances?
Second question - I - I need a video card, or risk of sufficient onboard graphics? - And if I do not need a graphics card,
What is 'good enough'? (My research suggests that killer video cards are really game and 3D rendering).
Third question - I - I need anything faster than a dual core of recent generation (be it AMD or Intel) processor?
Fourth question - any suggestions/warnings regarding the optimization of hard disk?
(i.e. - How does hardcore get?-OS on a single disc, app on a second, images on a third scratch file on a fourth...?)
Welcome seasoned wisdom.
Thank you kindly.
-Richard
I have a dual-core AMD Athlon X 2 2.6 GHz on a motherboard from previous generation with 8 GB of RAM (no difference to 4 GB for me) and a 250 GB hard drive. Integrated graphics. I built it myself with $ 450 two years ago.
Everything work fine with a single catalog with some images of 17K.
My goal is to get a computer that's fast enough without spending more than I have to.
Then just by a modern system of low-medium-end. Any modern computer is faster than my system and is good enough for LR.
And suppose that, for now, I'll just to have a monitor, but an upgrade
path for two monitors would be nice (and isn't that involves, in any case - a second card - graphic?
simultaneous use of the integrated graphics card and graphics card?).
My advice is to use the built-in function for now and add a descrete card later when you protect the monitor. Most modern motherboard with integrated graphics has a DVI or VGA port.
First question - a reason, I would need more than 4 GB of RAM and, if so, under what circumstances?
I got 4 GB with Vista 64 for quite awhile and never seen Lightroom to reach this limit. Even on important exports and the reconstruction of the preview. I added 4 more because it is very cheap and I wanted to stay safe running with the filename of the access page.
Second question - I - I need a video card, or risk of sufficient onboard graphics? - And if I do not need a graphics card,
What is 'good enough'? (My research suggests that killer video cards are really game and 3D rendering).
Graphics embedded, as stated above. But in case you end up buying a card (e.g. MB without onboard video) decreed, today the entry-level Radeon - 4350, 4550 are the best for a machine that is not related to the game. They are passive cooled - no noise from fans, walk cool, usually have two digital channels, costs $ 30 to 50 and have more than enough power for grapchis office.
Third question - I - I need anything faster than a dual core of recent generation (be it AMD or Intel) processor?
If your goal is 'a computer that's fast enough without spending more than I have to' - then, certainly, don't.
Fourth question - any suggestions/warnings regarding the optimization of hard disk?
If we are talking about a cheap machine, then in a hard drive configuration two type:
1 operating system, applications, catalog/previews
2. the images.
Let me explain. If your computer is optimized and clean, i.e. no anti-virus setting analysis your cache of Lightroom or search indexer/prefetcher/defender play with your hard drive, then the first hard drive during normal operation is almost entirely devoted to Lightroom. The second, of course, also, because it has only the image files.
If you want to go more upscale with the disk subsystem, then:
1 OS, applications - there is certainly no reason for sharing these.
2 catalogue/previews only. -get the fastest drive here: a small fast SSD, such as X 25-M OCZ Vertex or Intel.
3 images. A big pretty fast HDD.

I reinstalled my os and had graphics itel and network drivers, but I have forgotten it

You can get it on the Dell site. If you had specified the model number of your Optiplex system I would have given you the link for the driver.
In addition, I doubt you have a retail os disk so, you are probably using the recovery disk that will contain the drivers for all of your components.

'Save image': where twist them the specs?
The function that I'm referring to is 'Save image' in my version of the draw for the French. I guess in English, just like "Save image" or "save under". I'm not sure. Sorry for the translation.
I love this app Adobe draw, since here come ideas from Adobe (I really really liked, and that got totally hooked me on the digital design and digital media).
But do not have any control over the export of my drawing in my 'photo roll' or 'image file' on the ipad is really frustrating.
Is there something that I am missing? Is it possible to take decisions about it and I didn't think to it yet? (Read on before you make the suggetions)
What is the resolution of the jpeg Adobe draw allowing me to save?
No other options are available to me as I am not in the creative Cloud to Adobe, or Behance and do not have the desktop applications such as Illustration, etc.
So unless I get caugh up the $ to get to these options, all I'm left with is save to my folder of images ipad.
But this "save in" does not any decision about the size of my image, its resolution, format, etc.
More important is the fact that, in doing so, I lose all the precious value and deserves the vector image format now transformed into a much poorer jpgeg.
Now, if I had a twisted mind, I would say it's a marketing at Adobe decision to force me to Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.. ;-)
Excuse the big post because there is no option of spoiler. Your first question: image reselotion. It is automatically set by the application based on the size of the image. This is usually the highest resolution. Second question: images/image resizing options. There is no image option, but you can resize an image. Here's how:
1.) open a project (I use an a example)
(2.) in this project, the image is zoomed, so when we save it will be zoomed out with poor quality. To resolve this issue: in the project, zoom in or out. What you see on your screen, is what will appear in the saved image.
3.) save the image and it should appear how seen from the project view on the photo saved to your camera roll.
(4.) how it looks without zoom front or back the project when recording in camera roll

Are OptiPlex 990 PCIe connectors, 2.0?
The specs say it sre 2 PCIe x 16 slots and 1 PCIe x 1. Can I install a PCIe 2.0 video card?
http://www.Dell.com/downloads/global/products/Optix/en/OptiPlex-990-tech-guide.PDF
Intel Q67 Express Chipset PCI - E 2.0 offers up to 5 GT/s bus bandwidth.
PCI - E Versions and bandwidth
version 1.x (2.5 GT/s):
250 MB/s (× 1).
4 Gbps (x 16)v2.x (5 GT/s):
500 MB/s (× 1).
8 GB/s (16 x)v3.x (8 GT/s):
985 MB/s (× 1).
15.75 Gbps (x 16)v4.0 (16 GT/s):
1969 MB/s (× 1).
31.51 Gbps (x 16)PCI-E Versions aka 1.0 2.0 2.1 3.0 have nothing to do with X 1 X 4 X 8 X 16. The problems come with 2.1 and 3.0 TWO WAYS. Most Dells also only as VIDEO CARDS in X 16 slots. AKA storage controller (RAID cards) and (sound cards) etc will not work in the video slot machine.
Old cards pci-e 1.0 and 2.0 are NOT FAST ENOUGH for bus PCI-E 3.0 and many NEW Dell systems only WILL NOT SOUS-CADENCER the bus speed PCI-E 1.0 or 2.0. 1.0 and 2.0 does NOT refer to X 1 or X 2.
This means usually newer cards work in older systems, but Older cards are not yet "seen" as being connected when moved to a bus 2.1 or 3.0.
The power to PCI-E 2.1 and 3.0 profile is SUPERIOR to 1.0 and 2.0 if some new video cards DO NOT POST in older machines of bus.
This is also compounded by based incompatibility with UEFI cards that DO NOT SUPPORT VESA of back and thus configuration CMOS F2 video modes does not work. I have a problem with the radeon Sapphire R Series cards where the series Radeon HD aka 5450 6450 6650 7750 worked well the 250 R7 and R7 260 cards tell BACK VESA MODE 103 is NOT supported and refuses to F2 CMOS Setup.

I am running Windows 8.1 and when I go in the settings of your laptop, it has no option to activate bluetooth. It is not found under mode air etc.. It seems there being none in bluetooth devices. I went into the service and searched anything w/bluetooth. I found Bluetooth Support Services and tried to turn it on and set to automatic: no difference.
I tried to install several drivers... Bluetooth Toshiba downloads. They seem to settle down, but no confirmation or error or something different in devices, after I install them.
Please can someone confirm that this model should have bluetooth and if so what I can try to make it work. I tried a lot already and at this point I think it has not itself - which is different from what the specs say... or its defective. I looked at all the apps from Toshiba and they don't seem to have any mention of bluetooth on the computer either...
Appreciate any help.
Laptop settings > PCs and devices > Bluetoth...
When I want to use BT on my S50 Satellite - B to go to the search option and put blu so that the first search option is Bluetooth settings. Check it please on your machine.
Open and you will be directly in the management of BT where you can activate the BT on your machine.
