ORA-12154: FORMS 10G

I am able to connect to the database using sqldeveloper (this does not use the tnsnames file) but I get the error when I tried to log in to forms 10 G. I have same tnsnames.ora copied from 6i. In forms 6i, I was able to connect and to compile my forms.

I have read/write access to the devsuitehome folder.

I laso tried to modify the path by using the set PATH = commands dir, including ORACLE_HOME.

What I'm missing here?

above code is tnsnames.ora file database? If Yes this copy in your TNSNAMES C:\DevSuiteHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN. ORA file (replace all)

Hope it works...

You put the tnsnames.ora in the wrong directory, navigate to the directory of $ORACLE_INSTANCE/config and put there.

  • Oracle Forms 11g - ORA-12154: TNS error

Well, until I post my info, I searched and searched all over Google, OTN, Experts-Exchange, etc... to try and figure this one out and I am puzzled. So here goes. I get the dreaded ' * ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified * "error. This is my environment:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Server: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 version performs the following:
    Oracle Database 11g (Rel 1): 11.2.0.10
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (rel. 11.1.1.2.0) Forms Server

I can connect via SQL + no problem

Client: My Windows XP Professional PC.

I can't TNSPING the SID of the database, no problem.
I can connect via SQL + no problem
I can connect via TOAD to the db without problem
I can connect to Oracle Enterprise Manager through the web interface, no problem

I have 2 houses Oracle (Oracle 8.0.6, Oracle 11.1.0.1) on my PC. The current House is currently the 11g one. I have my background on my PC Setup very well.

The problem is when I try to run an example of form through the web, I created, the login prompt appears and I get my name in username/password / database SID and it is, I get the error. Of the clues as to what I should look for? Ultimately it is an application that all users will access and they should not have to worry about anything whatsoever to have installed on their PC.

    Thank you

Keep in mind that file tnsnames.ora forms 11g is under $ORACLE_INSTANCE/config

  • ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the specified connection identifier [10g XE]

    Greetings

There are a lot of topics about this problem on the internet, but none of them deal with this issue properly, so I couldn't find a solution to the problem.

I installed: Oracle Database 10 g Express Edition

After that the installation was done, I opened the SQL command line
and I used the command "connect" to connect
    I enter username
    Then I entered the password

After a few seconds, I got the following error message:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

    Screenshot of the error:
    http://I35.Tinypic.com/14o26g7.PNG

I installed this version of Oracle on Windows XP 32 bit and Windows 7 32 bit and I get the same error message when it tries to connect.

Why Oracle does not immediately after installation?
Are there other measures that need to be accomplished in order to make this work? If so I'd appreciate any help step by step, I was stuck trying to find a solution for days.

I was able to connect using the above command, but I would like to know why can't connect using a user name and password? I still cannot connect using a user name and password even after the environment variable.
    >

The problem is that the normal user accounts are either locked, you use is maybe not the right password or they may not have the necessary privileges to establish a session (there are a number of reasons).

Since you are in the console database, you don't need the environment variable set. SQL * Plus Gets the location of your database in the registry.

Make the alter statement that I posted earlier for a user which you know that there is and we'll take it from there.

  • Forms 10g + UTF8 - Item displays # when he's happy is too long

    Hello

    I am facing a strange behavior with Forms 10 g and NLS_LANG = UTF8.

DB 11G withcharset in AL32UTF8 on Linux

    Forms 10G on Linux

    We are currently upgrading our DB 10 G DB 11 G + UTF8 form.

After adaptation data DB 10G and 11G, we changed sementics BYTE in CHAR columns in DB 11 G.

    Migration worked well.

Now we try to connect to our application in the form of 10G to the new DB 11 G + UTF8.

First we were faced with the error ORA-01461 "can bind a long value only for insert in a long column".

To resolve this error, we have clarified the NLS_LANG = american_america.utf8 in default.env.

    This problem is solved now.

We have specified the following parameters when compiling:

    NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA. UTF8

    Export NLS_LANG

    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = CHAR

    Export NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS

The application works fine except a few ITEMs that display # when their content is too long.

For example with a Varchar2 ELEMENT (5) length_semantics = NULL (if the compiler uses the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS specified during compilation).

-When I fill it with "xxxxx" it works very well.

-When I fill it with "xxxxe", it displays "#". The ELEMENT behaves as in Excel when the cell data cannot be displayed as a whole.

Any idea on how I can avoid this behavior?

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim.

There is a bug in forms 10.1.2.3 for when the length of an element in BYTES is greater than the length of the CHAR data # are displayed.

    =>

    Length ('xxxxx') = lengthb ('xxxxx')

    but

    Length ('xxxxa')<>

    so you will get #.

There is a single patch for this what number I do not remember. The patch is packaged in the latest available patch for forms #9593176 and #13095466 which will also give you the benefits of being able to run your forms 10 g with Java7 (even if she is not certified).

    see you soon

  • ORA-12154 with 11g and heterogeneous services

    Hello
I have a procedure that bring data from a mysql on a service of HS server.
In 10G has worked very well, but after I migrated to 11g, weird things happen.
If I ran the procedure (or work that calls it) directly from sqlplus, it's fine, but if I schedule a task to run this procedure, he breaks up with: ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
It's like some environmental parameters or the rights are missing when this work is performed automatically.
    So what's changed in 11g?

    Any help is appreciated,
    Thank you

ORA-12154: ALWAYS occurs only on SQL Client & not SQL * Net packets never leave client system
ORA-12154 NEVER involves the listener, the database itself or whatever it is on the DB server.
ORA-12154 occurs when the client wants to connect to a DB Server system by using a connection string.
AMT-03505 is thrown by tnsping & is the same error ORA-12154 thrown by sqlplus or others.
The find operation fails because the supplied name can NOT be resolved at any remote DB.
The analogous operation would be when you wanted to call someone, but did not find their name in any directory.
The most common cause for ORA-12154 error is when the connection alias cannot be found in tnsnames.ora.
The research of the alias operation can have an impact on the content of the sqlnet.ora file. DOMAIN entry specifically.

  • Able to connect to SQL Developer but not a toad - ORA-12154: TNS

My workplace uses TOAD as standard SQL tool to run against Oracle, although I prefer test and use SQL developer.

When you try to connect to a database in TOAD I get the following error

ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name

I'm using the TNSNAMES file. ORA and I am able to connect through SQL Developer, no problem.

Also in the same file, I'm able to connect to the other TNS names, but all just not this one it seems.

I find it very strange, because it seems that for this name TNS one, I specifically can not connect through TOAD

I can connect to any other AMT via TOAD, and I can connect through SQL developer

I also tried a TNSPING and his returning in OK for the server and the connection seem just.

I am trying to connect to an Oracle 10 g with TOAD version 8.0.0.47 Server

    Any ideas appreciated!

I'm doing this from memory, but...

I believe that your version of toad is too low for this version of Oracle. You should be able to confirm with QUEST software.

  • OBIEE 11 g, ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier

    HI forumer,

I installed obiee 11g and I am trying to connect to oracle 11 g db installed on the same machine. I am able to create the DSN using the tnsnames.ora, but the same details used with obiee work not and fails with:

ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier

    Appreciate any help in this.

    Thank you

This is a change in behavior when we have 10g and 11g. In BI EE 10 g, there was no Oracle Client delivered with BI EE. Thus, BI EE will use your Oracle DB client host to connect to the database. Usually not a problem in this case. But in BI EE 11 g, the software itself contains a client of 11.2 DB. Thus, when you try to connect to the database using the repository or the BI server, it will try to find the tnsnames entry in the customer Oracle of BI EE 11 g instead of your database. There are 2 options to work around this problem

    1. copy your tnsnames.ora {Oracle_BI1} \network\admin directory & {oracle_common} \network\admin directory (only the first is necessary because it is the ORACLE_HOME)

    2. or instead of the source tnsnames.ora entry, use the full expanded tnsnames as shown below

    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 172.16.66.173)(PORT = 1521)) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)))

Both of the above will work.

It can be caused by the location of the TOAD software. The have you installed under "Program Files (x 86)? If Yes, then try to reinstall in a different directory, media in the path name can cause problems.

I already solved the problem (work until late Saturday).

the solution was to install the latest version of the Oracle customer, namely: Oracle 11 g Release 2 CLIENT for Windows 32 (11.2.0.1.0).

    Now everything works OK.

I also tested in Windows 7 32 bit (the .vi even and the same Oracle client). This will also OK.
