ORA-12154 with 11g and heterogeneous services

Hello
I have a procedure that bring data from a mysql on a service of HS server.
In 10G has worked very well, but after I migrated to 11g, weird things happen.
If I ran the procedure (or work that calls it) directly from sqlplus, it's fine, but if I schedule a task to run this procedure, he breaks up with: ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
It's like some environmental parameters or the rights are missing when this work is performed automatically.
So what's changed in 11g?

Any help is appreciated,
Thank you

ORA-12154: ALWAYS occurs only on SQL Client & not SQL * Net packets never leave client system
ORA-12154 NEVER involves the listener, the database itself or whatever it is on the DB server.
ORA-12154 occurs when the client wants to connect to a DB Server system by using a connection string.
AMT-03505 is thrown by tnsping & is the same error ORA-12154 thrown by sqlplus or others.
The find operation fails because the supplied name can NOT be resolved at any remote DB.
The analogous operation would be when you wanted to call someone, but did not find their name in any directory.
The most common cause for ORA-12154 error is when the connection alias cannot be found in tnsnames.ora.
The research of the alias operation can have an impact on the content of the sqlnet.ora file. DOMAIN entry specifically.
So after the content of the sqlnet.ora file.

    Hi all

I cloned an Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 instance on a new server and coompleted it successfully. I could connect to the applications and submit queries with success. But when I try to connect to the database using SQLPLUS or TOAD, I get an "ORA-12154 TNS: could not resolve service name" error. I have the tnsentry for this database in tnsnames.ora on my PC. the entry is as below:

    QA11I. WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP (Port = 1561))(Host = amcdev0004.xxx.com))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = qa11i) ORACLE_HOME = qa11i/app/qa11iora/9.2) (SERVER = DEDICATED))
    )

TNSPING does not work. I have tried other servers as well but does not work. Please notify.

    Thank you.

    Hello

A parenthesis is missing in the tnsnames.ora to your first post (just to the left of the ORACLE_HOME).

For your listener.ora on the next post I did not notice a missing parenthesis.

What do you evidence isn't two databases, it is two ORACLE_HOMEs. In other words, two installations of the RDBMS software. Do NOT confuse the software with a database.

This and the rest of what you post in this thread shows a real misunderstanding of how oracle in general - and tns in particular - works.
I suggest you start here > http://edstevensdba.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/sqlnet_overview/, and then follow up with some time spent in the manual of Concepts to tahiti.oracle.com

When I check using lsnrctl status, is the location of listener.ora:
    D:\ORACLE\db\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin\listener.ora

and my listener entries are in the file D:\ORACLE\db\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin\listener.ora...

and I was checking the D:\ORACLE\db\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin\listener.ora file and give the same entries...

I'm always confused with this problem

  • default page is not showing up with wiki and Xcode services on

    Hello

I have the site, wiki and the Xcode services turned on in my set - up OS X server.

I want to display the default page (which has links with other services) by default not pages Xcode or wiki.

I saw there is an order of priority article, but substitution was to change the order of file I tried to change the order of the index files, but it always happens with /xcode every time if Xcode is activated and the wiki when this service is enabled.

Is there a fix for this race 5.1.5

OK here's what I did, but this isn't an ideal solution.

    CD/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/other

sudo mv COM. Apple. WEBAPP. WIKI.conf COM. Apple. WEBAPP. WIKI.conf.bak

sudo mv COM. Apple. WEBAPP. XCODE.conf COM. Apple. WEBAPP. XCODE.conf.bak

This allows the default page to display.

It used to be that if xocde and wiki have been activated as Xcode are also in the wiki menu.

  • OfficeJet 6700 DHCP causing problems with airprint and web services

I find it kind of interesting that this printer does not properly with DHCP enabled by default and more easy to use configuration.  My new printer seems to require to manually set the ip and dns settings before the features of web services or airprint worked correctly.  It was strange because printing from a PC and iMac worked well, it was that only the web services feature (unable to connect to the server) and the airprint from IOS devices failed (printer shows up but just disappeared rather than printing impression actually).  Someone else has seen this and not do anything to solve this problem?

The problem with this is effectively resolved through static DNS, generally. The reason it is and not with other functions, is that our print servers that connect you with are able to communicate more easily with some DNS configurations on the other.

For this reason, HP recommends generally defining the DNS for your printer on the parameters of Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4.

    Does that answer your question?

    Have a great day!

  • ASA with firepower and Licensing Service

    Hello

If I buy an ASA with the power of Fire Service (e.g. 5516-X) should which licenses I buy?

I understand that I need to order a license for the Service of firepower. E.g. IPS, URLS, and AMP.

Should I order a license management FireSIGHT, too? The centre of mandatory FireSIGHT management? This license is necessary?

    Concerning

You will need the license of control (CTRL). It is free and automatically included with any package of power of fire SKU (i.e. ASA5516-FPWR-K9).

Then you must add the IPS, URLS or AMP (or combination of both) services in term 1, 3 or 5 years.

FireSIGHT Management Center is not required for entry-level (5506, 5508 or 5516) models. It is optional on those you can use the entry firesight level integrated in ASDM for the model.

For all other models, it is necessary. If you manage more than a simple ASA (even an HA pair) it is recommended even for the entry level models that you will be so power sync policies through them all.

  • Able to connect to SQL Developer but not a toad - ORA-12154: TNS

My workplace uses TOAD as standard SQL tool to run against Oracle, although I prefer test and use SQL developer.

When you try to connect to a database in TOAD I get the following error

ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name

I'm using the TNSNAMES file. ORA and I am able to connect through SQL Developer, no problem.

Also in the same file, I'm able to connect to the other TNS names, but all just not this one it seems.

I find it very strange, because it seems that for this name TNS one, I specifically can not connect through TOAD

I can connect to any other AMT via TOAD, and I can connect through SQL developer

I also tried a TNSPING and his returning in OK for the server and the connection seem just.

I am trying to connect to an Oracle 10 g with TOAD version 8.0.0.47 Server

    Any ideas appreciated!

I'm doing this from memory, but...

Oracle 10g database with TOAD version 8.0.0.47

I believe that your version of toad is too low for this version of Oracle. You should be able to confirm with QUEST software.

  • How to overcome ORA-12154 on afdbprf.sh and adcrobj.sh in Autoconfig

I'm cloning a database uses the same set of scripts I used for two years without problems.  This, however, when I ran adcfgclone.pl dbconfig it failed during the automatic configuration.  The error is Autoconfig 2 status while the detail in the paper shows ORA-12154.

I put the code in the templates afdbprf.sh and adcrobj.sh at the exit of the connection, connection and env, which look all right.  I can use this same set up the environment to run the sql code requested in these shell scripts and it connects fine.  This left me in the lurch because why this behavior in adconfig.

I'm under EBS 12.1.3 on RDBMS Oracle Linux 11.2.0.3.  I created an SR that has proved so far a vain effort as the first, I was told to use a different document because I am on EBS 11.5.9, that I had to correct them, and then I was told to apply 7 different patches and let them know when I did when 4 of these patches have for database 12 c 1 was a fix for what one of the hotfixes 12 c breaks, another was for CARS and we are autonomous, and the last was a component of specific applications difficulty when our question database layer.  In other words, none of them applied, and despite sending newspapers, there is no indication that the analyst tried to identify the problem yet.

I hope that the community here may be able to give assistance to help me go beyond this issue, or at least still identifying a root ask so I can find a solution.

I will close this thread claiming that rename the ifile so that custom parameters are eliminated, and their restaurant then at the end the clone was the solution.  It takes a client specific configuration so autoconfig works with generic parameter sets, he expects.  The ifile can be renamed after the clone so they can be used by the finished system.

    Hi all

I am very new at this, I want to know:
    (1) heterogeneous services of oracle and Oracle Gateway even or not? Need to license or not?

    (4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?

Thank you very much for your help

    Concerning

    JOE

    Joe,
Let the copy/paste your questions and comments online:

    (1) heterogeneous services of oracle and Oracle Gateway even or not? Need to license or not?
Let me first clarify one thing, heterogeneous services is the generic mechanism in the database Oracle used by all gateways. The product you are talking about is database for ODBC bridge or the bridge of Sybase database.
Database for ODBC bridge is available for Linux and Windows. It is the free product that does not require a license of Oracle. The license is included in your license data. It's a generic gateway which allows you to connect with any suitable part 3 ODBC driver to a corresponding foreign database. As this is a generic connectivity what words connect to real data, but also to MS Excel or text files as long as you have an appropriate ODBC, capacity driver is very limited.
More powerful bridge is the bridge of Sybase database. It covers the same functionality as DG4ODBC but it also allows you to work with distributed transactions, you can call procedures stored remote Sybase etc.. This gateway is design for Sybase ASE connections, so it is also able to map some Oracle Sybase equivalent functions. This gateway for Sybase database is NOT free, it requires an additional license.

    (2) want to creating link database to Oracle 11 g to Sybase 15.5 heterogeneous Oracle using the SERVICES what drivers should I install to my pc (windows 7) and my server (Linux red hat 5)? Please give me the link for this
It depends on your preferences. Two entry doors are available for Linux and Windows. When you use DG4ODBC, you must only be careful that you get a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver for this platform with the size of the corresponding word (64 bits for 64-bit DG4ODBC and 32-bit ODBC driver for DG4ODBC installations on 32-bit platforms).
The latest version of the software is currently 11.2.0.3 and it can be downloaded (and installed from scratch) of "My Oracle Support". Simply open the patches & updates section, look for Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER and make sure you choose the platform you want to use. Then check out the readme file it lists, which of these download CD contains the gateway software.
BTW, the CD contains DG4ODBC and DG4SYBS and it is up to you to decide during installation of which product you want to use.

    (3) is there a step by step link to configure odbc to create dblink?
Installation of the ODBC driver is different from one provider to another, and from platform to platform - so we didn't not a note specifies how to configure the ODBC driver. This kind of question is best managed by the provider of the ODBC driver.
Regarding the implementation of DG4ODBC on Windows, you will find the appropriate information in the knowledge base on My Oracle Support. Just look:
How to set up DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on 32-bit Windows to connect to Oracle databases Post Install [466225.1 Document]

    and to DG4SYBS:
How to set up DG4SYBS (Oracle to Sybase database entry door) on 64-bit Unix (AIX, HP - UX Itanium, Linux and Solaris) Post Install [437696.1 Document]
How the installer DG4SYBS (bridge of Sybase database) on a 64-bit Windows [Document 1319852.1]

    (4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?
It really depends on your needs. DG4SYBS is sullen more easy to install because this gateway comes with everything you need and you don't have to find an appropriate ODBC driver or get the working ODBC driver. It is also more powerful as you can for example use triggers that replicate changes to data in an Oracle database on the Sybase database in the same transaction. When you want to call Sybase stored procedures, you can also do this with DG4SYBS. So it really depends on your needs.

    What I'm missing here?

In the output above, it looks like you source the env file and that's why you get the error ORA-12154. You have to get the file of database of EPS under directory $ORACLE_HOME (.env file).

    Thank you

  • ORA-12154 error trying to connect with the customer instant g 11 / LDAP on Ubuntu

    Hello

I managed to install the client instant 11.2.0.2 and sqlplus on my Ubuntu 11.04 desktop. I am able to connect successfully to DB defined in tnsnames.ora, but when the resolution is (or should be) by LDAP, I get error

ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified

Note: while it is fine for the test, it is not a viable option to configure all DB defined in the OID in tnsnames.ora - I need to use LDAP.

    My configuration is:

    Installation folder: / opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
    TNS_ADMIN = / opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2 /.

    SQLNET.ora
    NAMES. DIRECTORY_PATH = (TNSNAMES, LDAP)

I am sure that the tnsnames.ora and ldap.ora are valid, as I can connect on another machine with the full client installed successfully by using the same files.

I tried tracing facility in sqlnet.ora as follows
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = SUPPORT
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_CLIENT = / tmp
    TRACE_FILE_CLIENT = sqlnet.trc
but not the trace file is generated in the directory/tmp - I'm doing something wrong? (Note, I also tried to set DIAG_ADR_ENABLED = OFF as suggested by Laurenz Albe in Instant client do not trace but which did not help)

    I checked DocID = 359206.1 but I don't think that this applies as I am on 11 g.

I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance!

It might be the return transport of the characters in the parameter files - make sure your sqlnet.ora and ldap.ora are in Unix format.

Linux vi versions tend to switch seamlessly between unix and back mode so it isn't always obvious - you can check with something like "od - c sqlnet.ora.
