ORA-12705 export NLS_LANG

Database version: 10.2.0.4 EA
OPERATING SYSTEM: AIX 6.1

I want to put the NLS_LANG parameter to the level of the OS to run the database import. I get the error when I run sqlplus or impdp below.

ORA-12705: cannot access files of NLS data or invalid environment specified

The NLS parameters at the DB level are below. Could someone make me to know how to set the parameter.

I tried in many ways, as below. But, without success.

$export NLS_LANG =. UTF8
$export NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA. UTF8

  • ORA-12705: invalid parameter or unknown NLS value specified error in PL/SQL

Everything works well, SQL * PLUS, shape and reports, but my PL/SQL Developer has stopped working.
It is throwing this error when I try to connect.

ORA-12705: invalid parameter or unknown NLS value specified error in PL/SQL developer

How to fix this help please.

First: most of the questions for Oracle products have a response depending on the version. In Oracle 11 g or 10g Oracle change the structure of their branch in the registry for example.

Secondly, it seems that the registry is a little messy.
Oracle for Windows identifies the part of the registry to use by reading the file
    % ORACLE_HOME%\bin\oracle. Key

Probably with PL/SQL Developer, like PL/SQL Developer needs an Oracle customer, she will too.
Of course, if this key points to a branch with NLS_LANG value NA this will result in questions, because this is not a valid value.
%ORACLE_HOME%\Bin will usually be in your path

No, you can't backup as copy directly to tape.

Don't know if it works but try this

    1. first copy the disk backup
    2. then backup datafilecopy all tape

    First of all,

    export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1

It is probably the cause of your problem if you have unusual characters in your data.

If this isn't the case, you do not have these "------" in your QUERY. Since you're using parfile, just go with what you would do in sqlplus:

    query="where time_id=to_date('28-DEC-01:00:00:00','DD-MON-RR:HH24:MI:SS')"

  • Effect of NLS_LANG in the SQL scripts

    DB version: 11.2.0.2
    Platform: RHEL 5.6

We have a software provider who occasionally sends SQL scripts to deploy.

The scripts contain usually few CFDS and many LMD

Textpad, I can see, the LMD (inserts, updates) in the SQL Script. It usually contains some non-English characters (Dutch, German, French) as
    'Übersicht Buchungssätze' .
'Fehler beim Löschen der zugeordneten Referenzen!'
They always ask us set NLS_LANG as follows.
    export NLS_LANG="AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P15"
After INSERTION, I questioned the inserted values of PL/SQL Developer. Values appear exactly as it appears in the SQL Script text file as shown above.
So, what was the effect of the NLS_LANG setting? What would have happened if I had not set NLS_LANG?

If our supplier had chosen to save the script with the UTF-8 encoding, then, we have set NLS_LANG. Right?

Evil. You need to AMERICAN_AMERICA. AL32UTF8. If you don't set NLS_LANG, it uses default AMERICAN_AMERICA. US7ASCII. Therefore, only pure ASCII 7-bit scripts can be executed in such environment. The Oracle Client does not use the default database character. It uses the platform default (usually US7ASCII) or UTF-16 in the case of JDBC, ODBC (Unicode mode) and ODP .NET pilots.

  • Host command change NLS_LANG

    I'm using Oracle 11 g 11.2.0.2.0.

I want to insert e chacater but have inserted as. My NLS_CHARACTERSET is WE8MSWIN1252.

Sqlplus in Sun OS, when I run
    + ! echo $NLS_LANG +.
    It returns null.

Definition of client variable Street by issuing the command below solves the problem
    Export NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8MSWIN1252

However, I have to issue permission to change the NLS_LANG variable in superior environments. I tried licensing
Host or! command of in sqlplus as HOST export NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8MSWIN1252 of in SQLPLUS but he isn't setting NLS_LANG variabe. I don't get any errors either.

Please let me how can know I set NLS_LANG in sqlplus or any other method to insert correctly the character e?

    Thank you.

I have no doubt how to determine NLS_LANG.

In the documentation I read "+ the character set specified by the parameter NLS_LANG must reflect the setting for the client operating system.

It's true, if the source is from client os (IE direct entry keypad). For example, Windows has tank separated two together-one in mode console (command line) and the other in mode 'gui' or 'ansi '.

The tank was part of NLS_LANG (the part after or starting with a point), should really be set to match the source, which could be local environment of os i.e. the client os, virtual terminal setting, file encoding (for example loading files).

It may also not be not of importance, depending on the application and configuration allowing to insert data of type character. For example with Oracle SQL Developer, due to slot the api cover used or 3rd party app.

For the unix shell environment find setting for the client operating system of value LANG?

Thus, in the light of what I tried to say and convey above, exactly how linking you and insert the data?

    If LANG is say en_US. ISO8859-1, the NLS_LANG is AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8ISO8859P1?

Yes, if the regional settings operating system/shell determines the source of which is its encoding character data.

Again, use Oracle SQL Developer, if possible. (It may already be installed on the server of db House.)
