  Try rather to instance with srvctl start ASM.
  Check the pfile file, try to see what is causing ORA-01078
  Once you manage to get ASM instance, check if diskgroup DATA are known to the asm instance and restore by using the appropriate option

  The only thing I can think of that will cause this error if the VMDKMounter does not clean behind.

  When VMDKMounter get a hard it creates a few files to ' / var/run/vmware/fuse / "and as an example lets say I just mounted a hard and he has created the following file...

  /var/run/vmware/fuse/2508127238786873953.info
  

  Note: This is not the only file it creates for this Assembly, however if the .info file is orphaned after removal you will get the error message your getting if you must remove the ' / var/run/vmware/fuse/*.info ' file associated with this file hard to go back.  You can check the file name by looking at the "/Users/$ the specified item was not found./Library/Logs/VMDKMounter/vmdkMounter.log" file.

  You need to delete terminal using sudo rm and here is an example based on the example above:

  sudo rm /var/run/vmware/fuse/2508127238786873953.info
  

  Note: Be very careful when you use especially with sudo rm as typo in the wrong has the ability to remove all much less other then what you want deleted.

  A parenthesis is missing in the tnsnames.ora to your first post (just to the left of the ORACLE_HOME).

  For your listener.ora on the next post I did not notice a missing parenthesis.

  Dataguard and MRP, you run a script before.

  In a standby scripted, a session to RETRIEVE the DATABASE would an UNTIL clause (SEQUENCE up to THAT most likely). At the end of the recovery at this point (SEQUENCE #), he left and stop at the database.

  In addition, the script is such that when a RECOVERY session is active, another session is not authorized to start. It can loop in pending state or go out and do it again the next scheduled interval.

  Apparently your startup script is not strong enough to prevent another session of RECOVERY to start even though the first is active (or it doesn't have a good up to THAT clause and stop, exit, closing stocks)

  What you have is a custom implementation of a database of pending. Without all the details of the script, the 'blocking' between sessions (to avoid a second RECOVER start when one is already running) etc... We can't really do much to help you.
  Your scripts must be standing with status information. It should be possible for you to discover the 'other' sqlplus session which emanates a DATABASE to RECOVER, but not yet out (p. ex... How about a simple "ps - ef |") grep sql' and ' ps - ef | combination of grep ora"?)

  VMware - mount.exe (5.5.0 / 18463) is installed on a physical box all new xp sp3.

  VMDK files were copied on the ESXi data store using putty pscp. Name.vmdk reviews and comments name - flat hard are present.

  VMware - mount.exe j: "\Guest name - flat hard" fails

  If I rename the files to remove the spaces and edit the primary vmdk file to point to the new - name of flat file, editing does not always work.

  The error on the command line (not a message box) in all cases is:
